Title: Reflashing My Bios.........which Flashing App?

I need to re-flash my spider chip, which app is the most reliable?  Should I use FlashX or what.  I heard OzXflash fails a lot.  Any suggestions appreciated.

anyone use flashx v1.2 to flash a 2.x chip on a v1.6 xbox?? or know if it will work?

The nfo file says works up to v1.5, but it doesnt say it won't work on 1.6/1.6b.

I am trying to flash a hacked m8+16 or a yoshihiro bios and Evox won't let me. I get the unknown flash type error.

I need to reflash the chip. My dash is skitchy with m8+16 and there is no IGR.

From what i'm using (X2.6 on a 1.6) FlashX works perfectly. I done 3 flashes successfully with no problems. Just make sure that you switch to bank 2 and disable flash protect when you load up FlashX

To me it's the most stable BIOS Flash app

I just reflashed my bios last night through Evox.  It was easy as pie.  I recommend this method.  

This from the Complete Noob guide to Everything:

Sometimes new and improved BIOS comes out, and you may want to upgrade to this. I HIGHLY SUGGEST not reflashing unless you know that the BIOS is stable!

1. connect to your xbox with flashFXP.

2. create a BIOS folder in your xbox's C:

3. put the bios (in 1024k form, remember!) in that folder.

4. edit your evox.ini, and put this wherever you want in the menu.

Item "Flash BIOS",@1

5. select the bios you want to reflash with

6. wait for the process to be done.

do you mean when it is UNprotected? otherwise, you should know whats up.  also, don't flash with evox, thats for sure.  do you not have flashbios anymore?  I have a x2.6 on a v1.6 box and flashx worked fine when i needed it, but i always keep flashbios on bank 1 and hacked bios on bank 2.  I don't know if it matters, but when i intend to flash, I boot up with the protection off, instead of switching it off just before flashing.  that might be a stupidly obvious statement, or just stupid and wrong.

nsspeak,

I MEAN PROTECTED..see I CANNOT boot the xbox with the chip UNPROTECTED (not sure if this is cuz its a 2.3b on a v1.6b or wat).

Consequently, I can't load up flashX because if I boot up PROTECTED, then switch to UNPROTECTED when evox dash is up, no apps will load. They all just hang at the evox loading screen.

I'm in a bind because Evox m8_16 bios causes somes games to freeze. Actually I dont know now because I fixed one of my problems (the skitchy menu) by updating to the newest evox dash. I suppose I should try just putting a fresh HDD in and loading my games from scratch (instead of using an old drive that was formatted and filled on an old system).

Here's my thing. I want to be able to reflash my chip. I didnt flash this chip. This kid did in his 1.0, and didnt even but flashbios on Bank1 for me (he put the xbox original retail bios which does crap for me).

I really want to hack m8_plus with evtool and get my IGR back.
And im def gonna want to flash the new xecuter bios for 1.6 when it comes out.

Should I try switching to unprotected when flashx is up and the message saying (No Xecuter or chip's protected) comes up?? Will the flashx program detect the unprotection automatically? The way I see it, there are no other ways to flash my chip under my strange circumstance.

(You're prob saying, Take the chip out and reflash in another xbox. Well I can't because the chip is connected to the board with wires because of the 2.3b setup on the 1.6 xbox. I am not messing up this connection, It boots up great)

BUMP!!!

Anyone know how i can flash my chip if when its unprotected and I boot up, the xbox FRAGS.



PROTECT boots to evox just fine..if i switch to unprotect after boot, apps wont load, hence why I can't use flashX...to get my IGR.
