hey guys, wondering if n e one can point me in the direction of how one loads this bin on x3 modchip? (trying to repair xbox too) tsop on xbos corrupted/erased/not operational, hd too, have no eeprom of xbox or C: E: backup eihter
Ah, just seen you've not got a backup.
Someone else is going to have to help you with that one.
This seems to be my problem also - ie no backup bios, no bios on any banks, can only boot into MS dashboard.
I'm new to all this - but it suggests to me that from the posts below if I create the CDRW as suggested, the xBox will then boot from the CD?? Is this right? Or have I missed a vital step?
)
Your CD/DVD needs a file, "bios.bin" (there's a bunch of other names that will work, too, I'll post a list next time -- not that it matters). This file is a copy of the BIOS you wish to flash overtop of the flashbios. For example, you could put EvoX M8 on your disc as "bios.bin", select CD/DVD flashing from the menu, and insert that disc. You need to use the correct filesize for your modchip, for Aladdin you would use 256k. For some other mods, 512k, or 1MB. It all depends on what you own.
I suggest you use DVD to flash from. CDs of any type (even CDRW) don't work reliably in XBOXes. If you find you put the disc in and the flashbios refuses to flash, that's because it can't read your disc.
BTW: The disc must be in a standard ISO9660 format. Not UDF, XBOXFS, or any other wacky stuff.
That link isnt working anymore. Can anyone else email it to me or host it? I looked in the usual places, but couldnt find it....orpoint to where it is in the usaul places directory stucture. PM meif you can email it, thanks, Nick
Nevermind the above post....i found it and it worked great....thanks!

It sucks that there's no good patch that lets cromwell work on either XBOX version. Oh well.
Ok....I tried turning off and on the xbox and I still dont get any video...
I also tried to use FlashBIOS 3.0.1 Unauthorised and got the same results....
Could someone plz just help me walk through the menu blindly???
I just want to get this xbox done...
I need to know how to get to the "reflash Eeprom for a V1.6A" in the menu
How many optoins down in the menu is it?
Help Plz......

HI,
I don't have access to the flashbios at the moment, but if I don't recall wrongly, to flash the eeprom (which is supposed to be only if you really know what you're doing) is the last menu item.
Can someone help him? Just confirm if flashing eeprom is the last menu item!
Thanks man!!!!
Atleast someone looked...
hehe....
Lets say it is the last option......when I press it will the tray pop out and ask for disk with the eeprom.bin on it?....
Hi,
I've never used that option before. Not sure what it does, so didn't play with it, what with all the warnings and all.
Hopefully Shepd here can reply to your questions soon.
shepd, wicked work...a few questions:
are 'dummy' EEPROMs embedded in your 3.0.3??
later posts in this thread suggest that you should put in a DVD-R with the desired EEPROM to be installed...BUT I've found that if you simply select one of the "Flash EEPROM 1.x" options with NO DISC in the tray...a msg still comes up saying "EEPROM Flash successful"
I presume that if no disc is in the tray (containing the desired EEPROM to be installed) that it reverts to 'dummy' ones embedded in the BIOS?
best,
Haha
This was going to be my next question....sort of...
Since I cant see becasue of no video....
But thanks to ASTRiDMan I got a screen shot to work with....
When I goto flash Eeprom for a 1.6 nothing happens, which goes with your question, since I cant see but I bet mine is doing the same thing yours is...
Should we just go ahead and have the Eeprom DVDR in before we even goto that option?...
Ill play with it and see what happens....cant get worse than it is now lol
The eeproms are embedded, and are the just public dumps of eeproms. Since MS never bothered bunny about the eeprom dumps he made public, I figured they're fair game. Nobody has given me any trouble about them yet.
This means you don't need to put anything on a DVD-R/CD-R to flash your EEPROM.
AFAIK, they're all NTSC, so PAL users might need to find a multisystem TV to work on until they get a valid PAL EEPROM. I prefer it this way since in NTSC-land (where I live) it's virtually impossible to get a multisystem TV (A 13" model will run you at least $700 - $800 -- an absolute joke -- I use a Chinese TV -> VGA Box instead which handles ANYTHING).
Sorry I didn't get back to you, BaDvs3viL, but I didn't have an answer, since I hadn't done any XBOXes for a little while.
When you select the EEPROM option, it will just flash and leave the XBOX running, nothing else. I should probably have the XBOX turn off, but it's not a big deal.
BTW, BaDvs3vil, generally if you get a black screen on boot the BIOS has crashed your machine, which means you probably won't get too far, sorry. I think the second or third option down is to flash from DVD. If you try those and find the DVD tray doesn't eject, you will need to get the XBOX to boot properly first (usually by using one of my older BIOSes).
HTH!

Well I was able to get a screenshot of the flashbios screen. I knew the xbox was working with flashbios...I just didnt have any video....I used that screen shot and was able to choose the flash eerpom option for a 1.6 and it worked and fixed my xbox even though I couldnt see becasue of no video....
But eitherway it worked and did fix my box....
I have x2 Pro modchip on my xbox v1.2. I just wonder if l can use any hacked X3 bios on my modchip. I also have some other questions too:
1/ X3 Patcher Beta v1.1 by Yoshihiro and Hyperstar to edit features of the X3 2914 bios so you can flash on any mod chip. Is that right?
2/ X3 2914 BIOS hacked which tested on Smartxx modchip on xbox 1.6. Does anyone use this on any other modchip like X2 and on other xbox version?
3/ Flashbios 3.0.3 "unauthorized" is X3 bios hacked, isn't it? will it work on my x2 pro modchip, xbox v1.2 ?
I am looking for an X3 bios hacked for my x2 modchip, xbox v1.2. Please help.
Thanks.
where can i find this, i looked on xbins and didn't find it.
ok i found it, it was there.

I've booted it on a prototype CleverMod Sunday chip. I can verify that you can not split that bios and it takes the entire 1mb.
I have questions about adding support for the software locking block registers on the new SST49LF004A/B chips the flashbios source I have for 3.0.1-3 has the Device ID code included. SST makes the A chip and B chip on the same ID, crappy. Also the B version now widely available is software write protected in a method other than the SDP commands. My So-far- nonworking code looks similiar to this:
CODE
#define T_BLOCK_LK (FLASH_BASE_ADDRESS+0x30002) //0xFFBF0002
#define T_MINUS01_LK (FLASH_BASE_ADDRESS+0x20002) //0xFFBE0002
#define T_MINUS02_LK (FLASH_BASE_ADDRESS+65538) //0xFFBD0002
#define T_MINUS03_LK (FLASH_BASE_ADDRESS+2) // positive 0xFFBC0002
#define T_MINUS04_LK (FLASH_BASE_ADDRESS-0xfffe) //0xFFBB0002
#define T_MINUS05_LK (FLASH_BASE_ADDRESS-0x1fffe) //0xFFBA0002
#define T_MINUS06_LK (FLASH_BASE_ADDRESS-0x2fffe) //0xFFB90002
#define T_MINUS07_LK (FLASH_BASE_ADDRESS-0x3fffe) //0xFFB80002
#define Unlock 0x00
as my defines then later I just tried to write to those locations that by default contain 0x01 and need tobe 0x00 to disable the software lock as per
This Data Sheet pages 21 and 22.
CODE
Write(T_BLOCK_LK,0x00);
Write(T_MINUS01_LK,0x00);
Write(T_MINUS02_LK,0x00);
Write(T_MINUS03_LK,0x00);
Write(T_MINUS04_LK,0x00);
Write(T_MINUS05_LK,0x00);
Write(T_MINUS06_LK,0x00);
Write(T_MINUS07_LK,unlock);
Write(FLASH_BASE_ADDRESS+65538,0x00);
I've been able to read the values are indeed 0x01 like the datasheet describes after power up so my code is finding the right locations, then I got busy on other things. Obviously these code examples are really experimental. According to SST you don't need to use the SDP here is my email with them. Is there any chance of getting this included in the flashbios source?
The hardware write protection (WP# and TBL# pins) is independent of the
software write protection (block locking register). The previous LPC
devices did not have the block locking registers. All 8 block locking
registers default to write locked (data=0x01) at power-up, they must be
unlocked (data 0x00) before the user can write to the array. These
registers are also reset to the write lock state after driving either
the RST# or INIT# pin to low. Thus, you need to modify your code to
write data 0x00 to each block locking register (total 8 write commands,
the SDP sequence is not required) after every power-down/power-up or
reset.

Thank you unauthorized!
Just had an Xbox come back that refused to boot any hard drives. Thanks to you I was able to recover the eeprom! I was about to tell him to get a new motherboard and hard drive too. Thank you thank you thank you
Is there anyway to extract the 1.6 eeprom used in Flashbios 3.0.3 unauthorized? I messed up while working on some xboxes and now need to lock a HDD to an unmodded box that had previously been flashed with the unauth eeprom. The X3 chip that was installed on the 1.6mobo has been removed and placed into a 1.0 mobo. Now I'm trying to softmod the 1.6mobo, but can't lock the drive because I didn't backup the eeprom after I flashed it with Flashbios unauth. Or could someone with a 1.6 mobo send me the eeprom, if they flashed with unauth? I need to be able to lock this HDD.
Please help - thanks.

I never see the output from this code and I think it's on the wrong addresses and it sure doesn't work for device BF,60. I commented in the address I think it needs I dunno then clear it with 0x00. Also that read for the master lock at [3] it will read 0x01 like it should like it's the locked register but you can't actually write to [2] or [3] and you'd never write to
can someone help me with this.... all i see is the regular flash screen no extra options for the eeprom. and i know it flashed right cuz it says unauthorized.... but i do have a flipping screen for some odd reason so im using a digi cam to read the text.
ight i figured it out.....shepd if you were a chick i would make sweet sweet love to you
Fantastic...just absolutely fantastic. This thread saved my xbox. I've been searching for 4 days now on how to fix my box.
Thanks!
Well it seems that the host has taken a dive - straight into the dirt. and of course i need a copy of this bios image LOL
Anyone have this image hosted somewhere? Of course i've lost mine.
this is a legal bios - so no worries about giving me a link or anything to that effect.
Thanks all

My EEPROM Problem
(might need pics of the unauth cuz i got no vid)
I have an XBox 1.6 where the Flashbios 3.0.3 didn't work, that means I have no video and no sound.
I tried the Flashbios 2.7, this works in the Box.
But is this able to fix the Eeprom for a 1.6 Box.
I read something that some Xboxes has Problems with this new Bios.
Which should I use?
Thx PC-Geil
Okay, finally fixed the webserver (I think).
Everything can be found under:
http://www.soiledbin....com/flashbios/
Use ver. 3.0.1-3 for ORIGINAL v1.6 xboxes. Nothing but trouble if you use version 3.0.3!
Not sure why you can't flash this onto your SmartXX chip. :-( Maybe someone else who has installed/used a SmartXX can give you more ideas.
Could someone please walk me through the process of getting Flashbios 3.0.1-3 working on my 1.6 Xbox with an X3 chip?
If you can't get the OS on the xenium to boot, this flashbios isn't going to help you! Your modchip needs to be able to boot before you can use flashbios.
Not sure about getting my version of flashbios working on an X3... You could just use the official flashbios for your chip instead of this hacked copy! (Unless you need the embedded eeproms, it will be the same for you -- my copy just has the eeproms and supports flashing chips other than the Xecuter).
This looks like a great program, thanks for the time you put forth to get it working for everyone.
I have a bit of a newbie question though.
I can't figure out how to flash this on to a chip. I am using a duox2 chip, and have tried repeatedly to flash it through the network adapter on a working xbox, so I can then just put the chip into an xbox that is giving me troubles, and I just can't figure out how to do it.
I have tried flashing the chip with the image.bin file, and it doesn't seem to work. How exactly do you use this whole setup you have got, and do all the other files do anything?
Sorry for the simple questions, just couldn't find any answers anywhere.
Thanks.
This seems to be a problem a lot of us are having. this xbox coma.
Shepd, word on the street is that your the man and i was hoping you, beingthe man and all, could help me with my situation.
I need to recover my eeprom on my box. I am using a v1.6b and have a X3 chip.
I have no A/V and until a minute ago thought I had nothing going at all, but have found that i am able to get to the flashBIOS screen on a backup BIOS. I think I just need to get an imbedded Bios. Am I wrong? I backed up my EEprom just before it went bad.
Any suggestions anyone???
TWelsh216, not sure if you got your problem solved, but I see in another thread you might have fixed it. If not let me know!
GIGABYTE2004, you can flash your Aladdin chip with this BIOS and select to install the v1.6 EEPROM. If you do that, though, your old EEPROM is toast! So you can't recover the old EEPROM with this FlashBIOS, you can just install a different, working EEPROM.
tiggersbowl1, the only thing I can think of is that maybe the DUO chips require a larger flash? I thought I read somewhere they are 512k.
If you need to resize the flash, do this from a DOS prompt ("command"):
copy /b image.bin + image.bin 512k.bin
HTH!
Hey shepd where is the install 1.6 EEPROM button. i got no A/V so i dont know wtf im looking at.
my problem ^^

Is there a xbe version of these awesome tools ? as i would love to rename it to default.xbe and add it with a dummy file to a cdrw and it would be my new flashing tool !
I would Never use evox flasher again !

I think it's only going to load off a bios.bin disk, not really what you have in mind.

i solved my last problem but when i flash my x3 bios and try to load them it is just like it was before i reflashed my eeproms the power goes on ad of the the led turns solid red. Then I will try to go back to the cromwell bios but it does the same thing as the x3 bios until i reflash the cromwell 1-3 bios.

What i want is flashbios 3.01 unauth but compiled into a xbe and then i rename it to default.xbe and add a dummy file and burn these to a cdrw.
How does it feel to want?
Just a quick question, which version xboxs' are compatible with 3.0.1-3?

I forgot to mention that my xbox is 1.0 and my modchip is Alladin XT live 3.64!
PLSSSS HELP ME!!!SOMEONE....ANYONE...I wrote the containing folders in the "flashbios_x3_303-unauthorized" folder on a dvd and it doesn't work..and what do I do with the image.bin file???PLSSSS SOMEONE HELP ME!!!I'm total noob..I only got my xbox a month ago...and I don't have anyone to turn to!!!Any suggestion would be great...but plsss keep it as simple as possible!!!THANK YOU!!!
gatsu10... you'll have to find a way to flash the .bin file to your modchip. Then once you fire up your xbox, you'll be prompted with the Flashbio screen.
Do a search through the site for info on how to flash your modchip. It sounds as though you're going to need another modded xbox or a programmer to flash the chip - seeing as your xbox won't boot up.
Good luck!

Yup,... you've got it right. Flash the .bin to your modchip (using your friend's xbox), then put it into your xbox and power it up. It should boot to a menu where you can select a 'restore eeprom' (or something like that) option.
Unfortunately I'm not too sure about the NTSC/PAL question, but I imagine that once you reflash your eeprom and reboot the xbox, if you don't have any video (but the xbox seems to be booting up normally), then you'll just have to use the Enigmah Video Select disc (just do a google search to find it) to switch the machine from NTSC to PAL. Also, make sure you burn the image to a disc your xbox can read (cdrw or dvd-r).
Could anyome re-upload Flashbios 3.03 Unauthorized?
It's on xbins.
