Title: Softmodding 1.6 Xbox

Hey I got a new xbox today, its definitely a 1.6. I got splinter cell (original) and i got the exploit on a memory card. But I dont have the original hd, i just have a 40 gig hd instead. Is there a way to softmod the xbox with this 40gig?

So is this 40 gig you've got allready inside the brand new xbox  or have you put it in yourself.
Do'nt know you see, where's the original.
A strange post if i do say so myself.

Sorry about that. I have a 1.4 xbox thats modded with a xecuter.2.3blite and has a 160gig hd. A friend gave me this xbox with a faulty 1.0 motherboard. I changed the motherboard and it ended up being a 1.6 i believe ( I see the xcaliber chip) I do not have the original harddrive. I just have that 40gig that I want to install onto the xbox, and softmodding it. I have like 3 other xbox hds from prior xboxes i've modded but for some reason i cant boot ANY of those hds. I need to softmod the 1.6 cuz he dont have money for a chip, and i really need to do him this favor.

Well you are in a spot of bother. For you to be able to softmod the 1.6 you need the original hdd so you can boot the xbox and back up the eeprom. Yes you will need to modchip the xbox so it'll boot up.

what about with xbox harddrive maker? I know that on my chipped xbox theres some backup information. eeprom.bin hddkey etc.. but I dont know whether or not it will work. I have like 2 or 3 other xbox hds but non load. I just have gotten these errors from experimenting since last night. I get 5,6,& 7. Somebody please help I need to softmod this xbox with this 40gig i got,.

Am i supposed to marry the harddrives or do a little ceremony for them or something? Should I buy a ring for one of them? tongue.gif

Oh my god!!!
So so funny.
Look dude. No hdd will work on that 1.6 board untill you have it chipped. You cannot use xboxhdm or hotswap or anything at all untill the 1.6 board has been chipped.
You see the original hdd for the 1.6 board you've got was locked together with a hdd key. You have to modchip it or nothing.
Open your eyes and do some research. And just for a laugh (sorry for it being at your expense)

Keep experimenting dude and you just might crack it with any luck, but i seriously doughbt it as the only thing that is going to save your bacon is a MODCHIP.
