| if some people want, i have made a little application to change that logo in the latest X2 bios. |
if you did and this is legit then this would be awesome news!
I PM'ed you my e-mail, so if you can send link or prog. that would be great!!!!!!!!
i would also like to have that progam
/Daniel
unless it's posted here i wouldn't recommend pm'ing anyone for something like this
so here it is:
http://www.ifrance.com/alg5/logox2.rar
here is an example of what i've been able to do with it:
(IMG:http://www.ifrance.com/alg5/logo.gif)
will make a documentation in english later, but it's easy to use (command line).
use it preferably if you can recover from flashing with a wrong bios, but i've not heard someone wich had problem with this soft...
enjoy :jester:
and has everyone had success with this mod using this prog? I ask because I have the aladdin chip so if I screw up the bios, I'm royally screwed. I got the output.bin and everything but when I open it up in xbtool it shows that its unsupported and I am using the X2 4981.06.
Is there any freeware/shareware program that I can use to make the .raw file?
has anyone played with this yet? i'm curious because i want to when i get home, also if it works then it would a great feature on the news page
whats the size of the raw image so we can open it in photoshop
I can confirm that it works.
the raw image is 100x17, grayscale, no header.
yeah if you just run logox2.exe it tells you the specifications
anyway i'm sorry i doubted you, it's just that people have wanted this for SOO long and it was just odd to finally see it
it works, great work on this and thanks alot for it
so when i modded the bios, i need to use output bios? it won't work in xbtool. somebody please write tutorial please.

thanks.
indeed you were right. it's better to give it to everyone.
Logo changing is not a big deal. Perhaps xecuter would prefer this customization to be not public, but at the beginning it was a MS bios after all. and people love so much to customize the bios.
anyway thanks to xecuter for their bios.

simply flash your modchip/tsop with the output.bin file.
yes, after xbtool say that it's an unsupported bios. I think the problem deals in the way xbtool recognize the bios (checksum ?). Or perhaps it's because i use old xbtool source code to unpack/pack the bios.
Currently, i've not heard of a flawed bios by using this tool. But consider this soft as beta:
I'm not satisfied in the way i made the new logo accepted. But it works...
so basically i make an image, and put that in the same folder as my bios and
the logox files, then use the proggy
i suck at making images, which proggy is best to use
hey xboxhaxors if you want I can make one for you but if you want to do it, I used paintshop pro. when you download logox2 it includes a sample logo. just open that up using paintshop and it will ask you for the logo "properties" just enter 100x17 and greyscale. that'll open up the image and I just blacked it out and put my new one. save as whatever.raw, run logox2 and flash away
I'm not sure what size font it was cause I just resized the image using the resize feature with the mouse. I got that oversize thing too at first. all I did was make the type smaller little by little until it said ok.
| QUOTE (Schultz @ Apr 30 2004, 06:09 PM) |
also i tried using this program and it gave me an error saying the file was oversized.. but i did everything like it said.. 100x17 greyscale 8bit image file.. |
the problem of size is about the compressed logo.
xecuter2 compressed logo is 622 bytes length, so you can't have a bigger logo.
the logo is compressed with a RLE algorythm ( search on google ).
you need to "simplify" your bios. having less pixel of one color alone ( change it to the same color as adjacent pixel, make your logo more sharp without gradation )
| QUOTE (BurnOmatic @ May 1 2004, 12:18 PM) |
great work , any chance to get the .nfo translated into English ? please please please |
| QUOTE (NightHawk117 @ May 2 2004, 06:51 PM) |
and of course I cant resize it since the kernel isnt supported |
| QUOTE (McGeyser @ May 4 2004, 09:50 PM) |
| Yes I did do grayscale 8 bit. The logo I did is the rough crap in my avatar. This same background worked fine when using the text tool in PS7 but when I used the brushes to create that thing, it's too big. How is that? The logox2 utility has constraints besides resolution and color depth? Too many pixels? What's too big? |
if your logo is 1700 bytes, you've not make a mistake.
but the logo is compressed in RLE format.
look at this reply that i have put on page 2:

for example, try to make your logo with only white & black pixels, it will helps a lot !
yes i know, i don't explain very good
Ahh, that's the reason I get 639 error, I should have less than 622. Thanks and good job again!
what size font do you guys use, and also what Font name ? and how do you guys make the letters look all stretchy when you open up the image ? i want to make my forum name of " BurnOmatic" <--- just like that

became bored a few days ago and with my (non-existent i think) programming skills a made a simple GUI for logoX2. It's quite pointless as the (original) proggie is so simple it would pointless to use. But if you want it here ya go (requires .net framework v1.1)
|
the fact that it needs .net framework is not very good, few people have it i think ( none of my computer have it, i'm still with my old vc++6

). So i could not test.
nice logo beetween
i will add my own gui some days...

Merry Xmas. Here's a 10kb frontend without any dependencies, and source included for the hell of it.

when using the gui will i know if it is patched correctly or not?? a CMD window pops up for a split second but dunno if it worked or not,, i tried it out and it didnt,,
i remade the logo using only white and black for whatever the hell RLE format is,,, but im not sure if it was that or that it didnt even patch,,, helpy please??
hmmmmmm, ¿☺?
hmmm, i just wanted to know if im patching correctly if command prompt popping up for a split second while running the gui is correct, and if i use only blak and white pixels will that be RLE compressed
this prog u just linked shuts down my pc
thx
kthx!
bump, bump, bump ,,,,thts the sound of the fifteens as they hittin in mytrunk
read all
if your file is 1700 bytes, it must be ok.
and with the command line, you see what's going on...
welll,,,,, thanx,,, icant really run it through comand prompt as i cannot use a keyboard on my pc......thanx,,, hopefully ill figure it out,,, i dont like flashingmore than needed
One of the GUI's did not work for me, but the one written by neo-dilly worked perfectly and created an output.bin that flashed and works great.
I have a rather difficult ? none the less important.
In the m7 bios, when no cd is inside it displays MS, when i insert the
slayers disk, it says matrix inside.
How?
Possible?

to anybody who doesn't have photoshop |
why are you using the Xecuter bios ?
in a xenium based thread you bash the hell out of them for some retarded reason and call them bastards
I for one support Xecuter - they've been here since day one and they've given us most of the software and hardware hacks we all use today (unlike some who have jumped on the bandwagon half way through the scenes age and on the back of other ppl's work). Anyone who bashes them just because your boyfreinds tell you to - so stupid and lame. Im quite sure youll be shutting the hell up when X3 is revealed finally and then you have to switch your 4 week old allegencies from one mod team to another
sad sad sad
in the meantime this little tool works nicely - simple raw image in photoshop changes the logo great
first credits to Xecuter for making the bios possible in the first place - second credits to the guy who developed the patching tool.
useless info - my logo says FUCK SONY
| QUOTE (McGeyser @ May 11 2004, 10:03 AM) |
| Photoshop 7 (PS7) works well, but I couldn't get the text tool to output at the right height(text too short). Read this whole thread someone suggested a few programs earlier that will make the raw images besides PS7. |
kidding me right ?
just create a new window 100 x 16
make the settings gray scale 8 bit
bang in your text - any font you like
save as raw image
impossible to get it wrong bud
You make it sound easy, but I thought it was 100X17. Anyhow with 72 pt Font and text tool, the text is too short(does not fill top to bottom of the black background). How did you get around that? I used brush tools to create the text I wanted.
you know you can strech the images diagonally to fit better don't you?
why do people buy $700 products and not know how to use them
| QUOTE |
| why do people buy $700 products and not know how to use them |
I'm going to have to answer; to learn, is that ok? Am I less credible now if I'm out of my element?

EDIT: Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a shot. The brush tool works sweet if you don't want to look like every other Font.
Is there a way to also change the X2 4983 X-Logo color?
yes, do a search for the colormodding / hex editing of the 4980 bios and you'll find tons of info
Hi, I did some searching and can't find a way to edit the .raw file without PS. Anyone know of any other programs? Thanks.
the only other programs that may be able to do it would be paintshop pro or the gimp. gimp for sure but i'm assuming you don't have linux and paintshop pro maybe
Dam, is there anyone with PhotoShop that can PM me and I can tell them the text that I would like on it, and have them e-mail the .raw file to me? Thanks.
Well, you will have to change your tuto

here is a new version with bmp support instead of raw:
http://www.ifrance.com/alg5/logox2.rarHope less people will complain about raw files

Will try to add a gui later.
I still need to know if it works for x2 4978 (512 Ko with ftp). So if someone can test...

I am having trouble with this new version because when i use it says error cannot unpack xbkrnl.img |
Say the error correctly, because i don't see any reason that you have this error
What's the name of your bios and which version it is ?
strange...3 people are saying the same pb, but i can't recreate the problem.
When you see the error, do you see the temp directory ? is the xboxkrnl.img file inside ?
i just have been able to create this pb, will try to fix this pb.
here is a new version wich should work better:
http://www.ifrance.com/alg5/logox2.rar
Excellent piece of coding. Worked flawlessly.

The only difficult things were to find how logo is encoded in the bios...
i'm not sure why this happened but i was changing a bios to white bg all the way through so i decided that my image should be white background and black lettering, the background was a slightly darker shade of white (i could fix that by making my logo transparent) but the top of the logo had at least 2 pixels in height that were still black. i made my logo 100x17, but is it possible that the logo is actually 100x19? thus giving me some black space at the top still?

Why people like white background ? i really don't like that

what do you mean by transparent ?

I have a white background bios somewhere, will be looking at it...
i meant transparent bg for my image
that way the image is only my text rather than text and background
. Any updates on this
maybe i should actually try and inject a slightly larger image, i just assumed that the program would detect the image as being too large
No disrespect to Team Xecuter for without them many of us would be lost, but you are my hero for allowing me to change that. Keep up the good work.

How do you do this ?
i have the same pb:

for the 2 line, it's strange. the original x2 seems to not suffer from this...
i forget how to do it with mspaint, and can't figure out how to do it with photoshop any more
but i know PS you can set the transparency color
i know how to start a new image with transparency color, maybe i'll go from there rather than mod my prexisting one
so you use .bmp files...
but i still don't understand how the transparent color can be keep, since my prog convert .bmp into raw files and the compress them into RLE format....
would it be posible to have a white background with blue X logo and custom text?? if so how, can someone post a tut or just simply tell me how thanx

| QUOTE (Psilocybe @ Jun 11 2004, 01:17 AM) |
the only thing that is grey is the background of the MS word replacement, the actuall background of the bios is white
there isn't a way to get a white bg for the text with the current program |
Oh, sorry i wasnt very clear...
Thats what i ment, the backround of the X logo is white, but the little "MS" replacement (the little rectangle) does not use a white color, it uses a grey. You can only tell if you use the white backround obviously, because when it is surrounded by black it appears white.
It's fine, ill find a creative way to make it look not ugly for now
for a "creative way" all you would need to do is match the background to the same offwhite that the logo creates
so where you have been making FFFFFF you can instead make it DADADA which would produce a darker white that i think looks closer to what the logox 2 creates as a white background
since the background color can only be on greyscale this should not be a problem to create the color of dadada

My x color is a little too light for my liking but ill change it sooner or later.
Thanks to:
Clown88 for the OWNED bmp
Psilocybe for the dark red preset
Team KernelBase.com for the startup animation/flubber (and biohazard .x)
MomDad and NGHTSHd for XBTOOL
ALG5 and the rest of you that made this injector possible

Drink up, be merry
glad i have been of some use to you as of the many others that have made all of this possible
Hey everyone, is it ok to do everything with the Kernelbasher, logox-2 and biosmanager stuff to flash on the first time onto a x2.3lite chip? Nuthing will screw it up? If its works but not too perfect, i will just stick with a color preset and flubber colors. I dont know about the logox-2 yet.
just so long as you use flashX to flash your chip (assuming you have an x2 chip) you will be safe, cause if you mess up one bank you will still have another to mess with
I thought FlashX was an app for EvoX or w/e. What I was going to do was make a color preset for the "X" and "XBOX", then go to XBtool (probably make a 1024mb file) and make stuff there, then go to biosmanager and paste the bios into the banks, which should fill up all the banks. Then flash first time using the X2proggrammer. Whats the dealio?
well it's an app for the xbox, has nothing to do with evox at all
i probably wouldn't suggest making the bios 1024k because if it fucks up there goes your whole chip, just do 512k
if you flash through evox make sure you flash over bank1 while your chip is set to bank 2, otherwise if the chip is on bank 1 and your bios is fucked up then you will end up flashing that fucked bios on all 1024k of the chip. this is why i suggested flashing with flashx if you have an x2 chip
okay so we can get a white background color, but when it comes to the image of MS/Xecuter2/whatever you put, it turns into a greyish color instead of the white. i then realized that someone(s) already may have fugured this out. the ind-bios team has already done ... at least i think.
i remember back when xbox-scene announced the firest VIDEO release of it, it showed a white background with the MS/Xecuter2/whatever background being also white. click HERE for the video i am talking about. maybe someone could "ask" them how they did it.
