Title: How Do I Alter Bootfile (not Sequence)
Post by: ddkore on April 07, 2004, 06:44:00 AM
normally you'd use xbtool.  but you don't need to.  just delete or replace xboxdash.xbe.

thc has some that are based off it, but have been hacked up to do alot ot the stuff a homebrew dash can.  and it can manage your memory card/saves.

If none of the first 3 are found then the kernel will attempt to load c:\xboxdash.xbe.

This is done by xbtool when you apply any patch, the dash loading function is replaced.  The only way which you could change this third, 'unconfigurable' .xbe is to unpack the bios and hex edit the kernel .img.

If you're concerned about going on to Live with your modchip enabled, just use the X2 4981/4983 BIOS; you cannot connect to Live with your chip enabled with these kernels.

Now the bios has no idea what xboxdash.xbe is and will never look or find it.
