There is no new media check; 007 Everything or Nothing had the same issue that NFL Fever had, both were somehow coded to look only in the DVD drive.  Both of these were fixed with simple patches to the XBEs.  No other games have special media checks, just those two.

In all actuality just because a game dont work off the hardrive is no grounds for labeling it a "nuke" or so called "new copy protection"

If it runs from DVD then so be it, having a game run from the hard drive is a bonus!

Just to clear things up, the Suffering does have HDD protection.  It checks if the file system of the partition from which it's being run is FATX.  It's already fixed, though.

Ninja Gaiden does not have any new media check.  I'm pretty confident that 007EON was just a static path issue like NFL Fever 2004, as Aron Parsons said.

I don't think any of the above games are "nukes" however I feel if a game does not run from the HD [even though other games have run from the HD in the past] it does pose a new copy protection, which to me would need a "fix"

However, apparently the 007:EoN "check" had been implemented in the past, so in actuality, its not a "new" media check..... The Suffering on the other hand...

Xeero: Thanks for the reply, what exactly do you mean by the above quote?

TIA!

media check 1 and media check 2 (long and short string) are old checks and covered in all xbox rippers.
Xeero posted a hex to replace for the fatx detection. You could do this by hand or just use the newest default.acl file for dvd2xbox.
