Well crap.
I installed my aa 64 yesterday. Everything booted fine:
1)Quick press power button: Boot normally
2)Hold for 2 seconds: red yellow green (booted to ms dashboard)
3)Hold for longer: red yellow flashing green (booted to ms dashboard)
I burned my Evox 3935 CD-RW..put it in the drive and booted using scenario 2 up above...it opened up EVoX...I ftp'd into the xbox and backedup the C and E drives.
I then shutdown the xbox and powered it back up using scenario 3. It read the disk and evox was up again. I went to system utils and bios flash...chose Evox_M7.bin (I did nothing to this file..i assumed that since it was 256k .bin file it was right for my chip...i saw the for the executor stuff you have to use some bios manager..thats not necessary right?) and flashed it. It read the chip, I pressed Y to flash it and it erased, programmed and then shutdown the xbox.
When I went to power it back up, i powered up in mode 2 above and it goes red yellow...and then after waiting a long time it turns green but no video is outputted. If I hit the eject button it starts flashing red/yellow/red/yellow. I assume thats a frag? If I power up in mode 3 above, it goes red yellow flashing and then solid yellow. Doh! Thats with the evox disk in or out of the drive.
So in summary, I'm pretty sure the flash got corrupted during reprogramming. What did I do wrong? (Should I have loaded the Bios folder onto the C: drive and flashed using those? Should I have used the Evox_M7ef.bin file instead? DId I need to modify the .bin file somehow?) And how do I recover? I have the socketed version of aladdin advance so I can replace the chip if nessary. I'd rather not if its avoidable! I've now found the bios flash tutorial in this forum so I'm guessing that flashing from the CD was a bad idea. If anyone can confirm what I did wrong, it would be helpful.
Assuming there is no way to fix it using a cd-rw (there is no way?) and I don't have access to a chip to hotswap/flash with, I'll need to gain access to a programmer? If I can get to a programmer, what image should I put on the chip? Cromwell (where can I find this?) or should I try to put one of the M7's on the chip and then install it?
Thanks for your help!
