I am using the X2 1978.03 bios, and am trying to use the FTP program to put the EvoX files on my xbox. I have it hooked up to my router with what i assume is crossover cable, and when i try to connect, it keeps timing out. please help! and dont be a flamer please. thanks

i think you mean x2 4978.03 right? And it doesn't have to be a crossover cable if it's connected to your router. I dont know if using a crossover cable won't work but try with another ethernet cable. Also are you sure it is a router and not a switch? And you do have the IP correct, right? Make sure you actually have it hooked up to a tv before you plug it because i have used the same port on my router for 3 different xbox's with the same exact evox files on them and the IP's are different. Does anone know why that is???
thanks
oh wait, you're doing the thing where you hold down A when you boot up. Yeah i am having trouble connecting to it like that i dont know why though.
soory i couldn't be more help

Its ok. Yeah, it is a router. I checked, and they are actually CAT-5 cables. Wow, how did i get 1 for 4?

Why do i need crossover cable versus cat-5?

you dont want a crossover cable when it's hooked into your router. I dont know if it wont work but i know it will work with just a notmal cable
