Title: Classic Flashing Problem
Post by: lemonade on September 13, 2003, 06:03:00 PM
I'm not able to flash the cromwell bios.  I've been reading up on the problem a lot; it seems to be a pretty common issue, but none of the fixes I've found work.  I have an Xecuter Lite 2.2 mod chip and I'm attempting to flash with an x2 4978.03 (512K).  I used x2BM to make my 1024k bios.bin file.  Then I used UltraISO to add the bios.bin and a dummy file (a 153 MB quicktime movie zipped and renamed abc.dat).  I titled the ISO "bios."  Using Nero 6, I burned the bios ISO using "Burn Image" at the slowest speed (4x) on a Pioneer DVR-A06 to a CD-RW.  Cromwell comes up, I put in the CD, and then after Loading, it displays this:
CDROM Label:  Bios
No Bios Update Found . . . Halting!
My mod chip is obviously enabled; the switches are on "unprotected" and "Bank 1."  I try turning the Xbox off and back on and I get the same result every time.  I've got a v 1.0 system.  What can I possibly be doing wrong?

I've now tried a few different ISO programs, but I'm still getting the same result.  I'm using Nero Express to burn.  All over the place, I see people advising to select level one, unclick joliet, burn track-at-once -- but I can't find any of this stuff with Nero Express.  The most I have been able to do is to deselect joliet in the configure window.  I've also tried a larger zipped dummy file (416 MB), but I'm still getting the same result.  Any other ideas?
