Title: Problem Creating A Bfm Bios
Post by: BenJeremy on July 30, 2003, 11:49:00 AM
This is a debug BIOS, right?

I believe you need the xbdm.dll file in your E:\ for it to work properly, at the minimum.

I don't believe so.  Correct me if I am wrong.

This comes from the pixel8 info file:

Do not fret! This image will run all retail software*, and will boot
xboxdash.xbe by default if there is no debug software present. Just rename EvoX to
xboxdash.xbe and you're ready to flash.

Yes, but remember: This 2BL forces a different entry point. Debug BIOSes booted via modchip also launch without the XBDM.DLL, but need it when launching via the "BFM" method.

It's worth a check, isn't it?

Yes, definately worth a check.  I just get the feeling xbdm.dll isn't exactly easy to find without downloading the entire XDK.  I'll see if I can find it and I will post results.  Thanks for the help guys!

Of course, now that Phoenix's loader is released you can run a true debug like 5558. The TATX dual debug also works well packed to boot from media.

I also got the same bad results on the tatx dual VGA bios.  Can you post your method [)eacon]ndigo?  Specifically, what bfm bios did you take the 2bl and remainder from and what files (xbdm.dll, dashboard.xbx, etc) you had to put on your box to get it up 'n runnin'?

I believe I took the files from the x2 4977 bfm. The one I have has a full 1MB remainder (not mirrored at all). The bfm.ini is a standard debug.ini with a debug key. As for the debug files, it's the .normal debug stuff.

I'm currently trying the same thing ( strange there are no VGA BFM available somewhere  blink.gif )

I'm working with TATX_Debug_BFM.bin ( as 2bl and remainder source ) and TATX_Debug_Dual_VGA_LameOne_beta.bin ( as kernel source )

I can unpack the TATX_Debug_Dual_VGA_LameOne_beta.bin with the multi configuration ( seems to be normal: it's a multi bios for v1.0 v1.1 ... )

I can unpack the TATX_Debug_BFM.bin with the debug configuration ( i put the RC4 Key i found on signed phoenix )

Both give valid xboxkrnl.img  smile.gif

so i take the xboxkrnl.img from TATX_Debug_Dual_VGA_LameOne_beta directory and put it in the TATX_Debug_BFM, but when i pack it, it doesn't work.

Thanks for help...

indeed, if i unpack the TATX_Debug_BFM.bin and pack it after it doesn't work sad.gif ( i don't obtain the same file  blink.gif )

PS: i have the sdk installed, and it works  biggrin.gif
