Title: Lpc Flash Help
Post by: sm3ggy on July 21, 2003, 04:27:00 PM
Hiya,

Can anyone tell me how to flash my Cheapmod LPC modchip?

I don't have a programmer so I need to be able to hotswap the bios chip and flash it...
Is there any tutorials which cover this?

The chips are standard SST chips...

Where do I find the write protect link?

Thank you

If it is a basic cheapmod chip it may not even have flash protection on it...
Probably just flash it with a 256k bios using evox... but i would recommend gathering some more information before making any moves just yet...

If you got it from www.cheapmod.com just take the jumper off and you should be able to flash it.

Just to make sure you realize, you need a programmed modchip with supporting bios to do a hotswap.  Just boot up your xbox with the cheapmod on, and at the dashboard screen just remove the programmed cheapmod, and put the new one on and say flash bios.  You will of course need to have some bios files in the appropriate folder.

Nah I didnt buy it as such.....

I friend of a friend puts them together on a pcb, he gave me the header and I put the sucker in....

I have now got my hands on 3 SST chips and sockets with no PCB, I have soldered wires form the bottom of the socket to a female header, and have male header pins to use for the boards.. looks like this:
