Title: Is There Really A Point To Upgrading To X2 4977?
Post by: gamemaster14 on June 27, 2003, 11:45:00 AM
Is there really a point to upgrading to x2 4977? For some reason I can eject my dvd-rom drive in xbmp with no reset. I have the bios before 4977. If upgrading would be good how would I do it through evox?

If xbmp works fine like that for you, then theres no point to. The only update is the no eject reset in any app.

Make a new folder in you c: called bios it should look like         ->    c:bios .  Now you upload the the new bios to that dir and make sure (if you have an xecuter 2) that flash protect is off.  Go to sys utils and go to flash bios.  Select the bios you want to flash. then wait for it do get done and boot your xbox.  And you have a new bios.

I think that last guy missed the point.  I am thinking that my 4976.02 is just fine the way it is.

no WodMan I didn't miss the point.  If you would have taken the time to exactly read his question he specifically asks "If upgrading would be good how would I do it through evox?"  So the next time you say something take the time to actually read what they are asking.

4977 has the eject fix.

This is almost a necessity with Linux.

Anyone else wondering when the big X2 BIOS update is coming?  They've been talking about it since around November... about 8 months ago.

Xecuter 2 doesnt come with the switch  blink.gif
inniss777 You have to look at the jumper look at xecuter install instructions and it should explain it...

You guys should know that Eject Fix only keeps the Xbox from resetting when the current app if loaded from the DVD drive.  I.e., if you're using X2 4976.02 and load EvoX or XBMP from the HDD and eject the tray, they won't reset.

I'M STICKING WITH 4976.02 TOO

On XBMP to avoid a reset on ejecting the disc after ya watched say disc 1 of a 2 disc vcd etc.....
Go BACK to the first page/screen then eject disc - it shouldn't reset and then select my videos etc.. as normal and play the next disc - a small pain but....

I like playing a game and a simple eject to reset/go to evox

works fine for me and if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it - 4976.02 will do for now

I updated to 4977 and it works great. there is supposed to be something in the bios for the newer games so you won't need to patch when backed up to hdd.

It works great. Keep up the good work xecuter! biggrin.gif

thats on 4976.02 also smile.gif

Anyone got the code you have to add to evox.ini so it will say X2 4977 and not unknown?

I think you simply name the current bios with its MD5.. That should do it.

can ui explain what md5 is and how to change it?

what i do is when i flash a new bios is ftp to xbox and edit the evox.ini file

if u open your ini file u should see something like this

#

ROM             = "EvoX D.6",0xc349c2b047a3d6c2de2e1c10185ecf86
#
Flash      = 0x01d5,"AMD - Am29F080B",0x100000
Flash      = 0x04d5,"FUJITSU - MBM29F080A",0x100000
Flash      = 0xadd5,"Hynix - HY29F080",0x100000
Flash      = 0x20f1,"ST - M29F080A",0x100000
Flash      = 0xbf61,"SST - 49LF020",0x40000
#Flash      = 0x378c,"AMIC - A29002",0x40000
Current      = 0x7137c693e67554b92873d3ec5cdbb1d8

where it says current that is the md5 for the current bios u have on your xbox
so all u need to do is copy that to the rom section so it would look somet like

ROM             = "name of bios",0x7137c693e67554b92873d3ec5cdbb1d8

then reboot and it should say what u put in where it says name of bios.
