Post by: 82ross on December 04, 2003, 10:47:00 PM
Have you got the dvd shares in your config.xml?

     <share>
       <name>DVDROM (UDF)</name>
       <url>d:</url>
       <cachesize>8192</cachesize>
     </share>

     <share>
       <name>DVDROM (ISO)</name>
       <url>iso9660:</url>
       <cachesize>8192</cachesize>
     </share>

Thats for movies. In music and pictures it wouldnt have the cachesize part.

I did have this share there, but I changed it exactly to what you wrote, still I don't play any CD's. Any suggestions?

I can't believe there is nobody with a similar problem.
Is it really something simple that I'm overlooking and nobody want's to help?

Hello!?!? It's a little too obvious.
<cachesize>8192</cachesize>
And maybe that type of media can't be read by your DVD drive...

That share was from my "MUSIC" share. I red that cachesize 8192 doesn't apply to music, only DVD's. I can't even play normal CD's from the store through XBMP.
I can watch DVD's via DVDx  , so I think my DVDROM is fine.

There is a little difference between reading a CDr (maybe with ISO file system) an a DVd for the XBOX. Try to listen to a CDR Audio CD with the MS Dash. If it works you know your XBOX DVD Drive is able to read CDRs (well at least the brand you tried) for sure.
