I think I may have found the solution..
There's a "subtitle" block in skin.xml which contains a "position" value. Hopefully changing this value will solve the problem.
It would be nice if this were brought into the interface and/or worked in combination with the screen calibration settings.. but it's still really nice that the values for things like this come in through a text file that I can play with.
(also.. it's sort of cool that I found this value by looking through the code -- thanks for making it open, whoever)
