Title: Xbmp Or Xbmc...will It Ever Play Rmvb Codec
Post by: jokerbird on October 07, 2003, 12:23:00 PM
RMVB is crappy Real Audio/Video. I can almost guarantee there will never be a codec for it.

Actually I have fixed xbmp24 version, currently RV30, RV40(rmvb), plays fine
on my machine. It is a patch file, no Compiled version released.

I havent seen any movies but RV40 (RV9) is quality for encoding cartoons at small bitrates. Just comparing RV8 and RV9 you can see a huge amount of difference.

I read on Doom9 that RV9 surprised the author of the comparison for being pretty good.

I came across my first RV9 today, and I've gotta say I'm pretty impressed. 400mb DVD rip that I can't see a single compression artifact in.

Can't wait to see this format supported in XBMP.
