Title: Media Player 2.4 Xml Config
Post by: thetruethugg on June 07, 2003, 10:26:00 AM
If you need to edit it, right click on it and go to Edit, or Open with..  > notepad...  There is no need to view the xml in IE (shame on you) or mozilla..

Notepad works best IMO..

Intially when released . . . config.xml needs to be opened using Wordpad if using Windows . . . After first save Notepad can then be used

Would that maybe cause strange characters in the file? Apparently my config works but at the end of the lines there are little boxes where I have the asteriks shown below. Couldnt paste the boxes.

***

Sometimes its one little box and sometimes more. Anyway I took them out and nothing changed so I guess they are not needed anyway.

its nothing to worry about, those little boxes are just the LF character that notepad doesnt interpret at an end of line character since it isnt preceded by a CR. all opening the file in wordpad would have done would replace each box with a return

That is because the file is saved in unix text format. Simply convert back to simple ansii and then you can use any windows text editor.

You can limit this problem by making sure when you transfer the file, if using FTP, that you select ansii transfer mode.

EDIT: Didn't click the link... It was already explained. Oh well  sad.gif
