Everything is in the guide on www.xbmp.de but since you didn´t read it i´ll c&p.

When done ftp the listing.xml to the xbmp/tvguide folder (This folder was added in the
xbmp_2.3_cvs_compile_xbins_4-14-03 release.

I have the Slayers CD and it autoinstalled TVGuide etc, so I think I can bypass some of what is in the tutorial on http://www.xbmp.de/ , but not sure where to do what.  Then I checked the ReadMe file in the TV Guide directory in XBMP and it came up with this :

==============================================================
4-14-2003

Whoops, I didn't read my own CVS notes yesterday. The /TVGuide dir has now been
created, with listing.xml in there. The 3 tvguide*.xpr files have been moved
over the old ones in the Media dir, so replace them with the now current ones
if you haven't already.
==============================================================

I did find the *.XPR files in the Media directory in the XBMP directory, so should I put those in the TVGuide directory?  What does he mean in that readme?

I know I have the config file for TVGuide set up right :

<tvguide>
     <visible>true</visible>
     <autoprocess>true</autoprocess>
   </tvguide>

and when I go to the TV guide button in XBMP at the top it says the date and three times across the top like 5:30, 6:00 and 6:30.  Under that it says :

"No show listings available for this date"

"Process updated listing.xml"

So what do I do?

Again why not read the full tutorial on our site.

Every single aspect to get it working is in it.
I know this for a fact becouse i got pm´s from people in every country on win98/win2k/and xp that got it working.

The time/date MUST be set correctly to ever get it working.

Yeah, read your tutorial but again like I said, I think I have almost everything I need, it's just a matter of doing like one thing I think.  Can't you just take the info that I have from my last two posts and tell me what  I need to do/get?

I mean,  I dont think I need those files from sourceforge and whatnot.....

The 3 tvguide*.xpr goes into the media folder.

And i did answer your question and you still havent seen it!

"The time/date MUST be set correctly to ever get it working. "

Do this in msdash or use the sntp (simple network time protocol)  that is built into xbmp.

And the time it takes for you to get a answer here is larger compared to reading 200 lines of text.

But hey, who am i to say anything...

AHAHAH of course the time is set, sheesh!  But whatever.  So what do I do now?

I mean you can tell what I have working so far from my other posts, so what am I leaving
out?

ALSO : I am going over your tutorial now and when I downloaded the file from sourceforge xmltv-0.5.10-win32.zip, when I went to open it with winzip it said something about not being able to extract the Grab and summarize things (whatever they are)

Secondly, I am using windows ME and it says nothing of it in your tutorial, so I am lost there...

here is what I am confused with in your tutorial :

open a command promt, in win98 press start and run then type in command, and for win2k/xp type in cmd
Use the cd command do so.

Goto the folder where you unziped xmltv and type in: xmltv tv_grab_** --configure

So you are saying to type xmltv tv_grab into the folder?  did I read that wrong?

OK I got the part where I go to "Run" and type in command, giving me a command box dos prompt.  But then you say  "Goto the folder where you unziped xmltv and type in: xmltv tv_grab_** --configure"  ?? wtf?  I know to type in the command, but how do I type it into a folder?

Sorry to say, but with that attitude of yours you wont get any more help from me.

Hopefully you´ll get it from someone that can stand you.

Well excuse me if your tutorial isn't very concise.....I gave you the info that I had pertaining to my situation and you couldnt give me a simple answer.  Plus on that sourceforge page, which application are you supposed to download (I figured Win32) but what is the deal with that .TAR file?  Why dont you re-write your tutorial so that anyone could understand it.  Don't go assuming that there are things to know that to you are just "common sense" because that is not always true at all.  EVERYONE INCLUDING YOU were and are newbies at one point.  IF you are going to go out of your way to write up a tutorial, then please aim it at them.

I will NOT start a flame war here, but i hope you go and fix that attitude of yours.

And read up on basic computor use, you´ll need it!

1: Press the power button on the computor.
2: Wait untill it starts.
3: Ohh, it dont start.
4: Install a os
5: What is a os?! well it is a operating system.
6: Install the os.
etc
etc
etc

Doing a tutorial your way would include to much info for the avrage user and would be very hard, and boring, to read as it would drift from the subject numerus of times.

And yet again, i gave you a simple answer.
And what did you do?!
You laughed!

I realy dont think you even deserv as much help as i/we on this forum have given you up to this point.

Do you see that you have a folder called local in your xbmp folder?

In there are your lang-**.xml files.

I said add them to your lang-**.xml file, not to your config.xml

Edit YOUR country lang-*.xml file and check if those tuples are added

<tuple>520,TV Guide</tuple>
<tuple>521,Settings</tuple>
<tuple>522,Font Size</tuple>
<tuple>523,Channel Titles</tuple>
<tuple>524,Numbers Only</tuple>
<tuple>525,Full ID<*/tuple>
<tuple>526,Time Blocks Shown</tuple>
<tuple>527,Save Favorites/Settings</tuple>
<tuple>528,Display Name</tuple

Also added the location in the tutorial. Didn´t think it was needed but now noone else will get stuck there.

lang folder?

well anyway, open languages.txt, also in the local folder, with notepad and you´ll see wich one is your languge.

Just as an example, if it is lang-10.xml change your config.xml to this:

<language>10</language>

But when I restart still no tvguide!
did you see any other problem with my config...

My lang1 already had the correct tuple settings ... i guess since its a May version of xbmp.

Yes, one VERY big thing.

<*tvguide>
<*visible>true<*/visible>
<*autoprocess>true<*/autoprocess>
<*/tvguide>

The * will make the tv-guide not show up.

They must be on the homepage becouse they wouldn´t be visible to you if they where gone.

<tvguide>
<visible>true</visible>
<autoprocess>true</autoprocess>
</tvguide>

I´ll add that too, but i DONT think using some commen sense would hurt...

And what the * does is explained in the config.xml

this is what is on your page!

MAKE SURE YOUR HOMETAG IS SETUP RIGHT IN CONFIG.XML. Be case sensitive!

<span style='font-size:21pt;line-height:100%'>Make sure that this is added to your config.xml

<*tvguide>
<*visible>true<*/visible>
<*autoprocess>true<*/autoprocess>
<*/tvguide>

If it´s not there or set to false the TV-Guide wont show up in the main window.</span>

P.S.  I added the RED and big letters! smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif    for effect! smile.gif smile.gif

Yes, i know what is on the page.

But you just proved to me that i never ever can think that people have alittle commen sense again.

It´s not fun, but i´ll have to start making tutorials that a seven year old that just have started to learn how to read can follow.

And that is realy, realy sad imo.

I don't think you should say common sense...

because common sense would be to copy it   as is ...

especially if you just wrote to copy it exactly! smile.gif

It would be uncommon sense to NOT do what you say to do! smile.gif smile.gif

P.S.  In any case ... your intentions are GREAT  and much appreciated ...  and you are a very good teacher! smile.gif

Hi!

My TV Guide is showing up! (Wasn't that hard) I downloaded the actual german listing.xml and uploaded it to

e:appsxbmptvguide

when I start XBMP and go to TV Guide it creates 7 files with the dates of the current week.

But in TV Guide nothing shows up!!

My Date and Time is set correctly!!!!

Any failure??

Cant imagine what is going wrong!

p.s. The home tag is set right!

Another Question!

I want the XBMP Webserver. +g+

I have Downloaded the "libGoAhead-alln7-4-2003n" but it seems to be only a source code. Am I right? Is there a compiled version out there or do I have to compile it by myself?

I have read your Tutorial, but there is no "config.xml" in the package.

I had a lot of problems today! I wont post anymore today! +amen+

Ok I am very new to this.  I read throught he instructions on http://www.xbmp.de/  I downloaded the files I was supposed to and I extracted the zip file into my root directory.  But when I typed in what i was supposed to on my cmd promt I get this.

MS Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
© Copyright 1985-2001 MS Corp.

C:Documents and SettingsFrankyRizzo1984>xmltv tv_grab_na --configure
'xmltv' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

Then I relized that I wasnt in the proper directory so i unzipped the file only this time to the FrankyRizzo1984 directroy and once again I got the same error.  I read through this and it seems like everybody else is understanding this.  Can somebody please help me out?  I am sure those directions are great for people that know alot about PC's but I am somewhat of a reject.   If anybody can give me some easier instructions I would really appriciate it.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

UPDATE.  I appologize for being a retard.  I havent gotten it working yet but I figured out this command eror I was having.
