Title: Converting .mov To Divx On Mac Os X
Post by: sammi on April 22, 2003, 12:11:00 AM
been trying everything today to try and get a compatible divx .avi file to my xbox from mac os x.

Anyone have a successful workflow for doing this. My video seems to play at 2wice the speed it should, audio seems fine.  I'm going insane.

You can do exactly what you want by using quicktime 6 pro. Just export it as avi.

It works just great, thanks for the help, i didn't even think to do a standard export as .avi

Unfortunately it won't give me nice compact divx encoding. Cinepac is not such a great codec.  I have tried the standard divx tools, and gershwin divx encoder, tried shoving it through divx validator, all to no avail.

The standard.avi export will have to do for now, thanks heaps for the tip.

i can export it from quicktime 6 as divx on the mac, but it doesn't play on the xbox properly.  Plays perfectly on my mac, just not after i ftp it up to the xbox.  I don't have a pro version of quicktime for the pc.  maybe that is a good solution, though.

I only have Cinepac (which has nasty compression) or PAL DV (which has MASSIVE file sizes) as compression settings for avi files.
