Title: 120 Gb Hdd For $20
Post by: PlastiKK_ on May 26, 2003, 04:44:00 PM
OK, I saw a WD 120GB 7200RPM HDD for $60 after mail in rebates ($150 before MIR) from OfficeMax.  OfficeMax was all out, so I went to Circuit City to try their "Price Match Plus."  They had the same HDD for $80 ($170 before MIR).  So I went to the front desk and asked them about it.  I don't know what the hell they did, but I ended up getting it for $102.37 with an $80 mail in rebate.  Total cash missing from my pocket - $22.37 - damn I'm happy.  I think that they guy at the desk will get some shit from his boss somewhere down the line.

I work at a Circuit City and to tell you the truth, the manager probably won't care about the money the company lost on the hard drive. They only care about what you sell that makes them money.

PMI is KEY

lucky sod,

over here in the UK price match means ...not very much

for example, CURRYS and COMET, two of the UK's largest retailers,
CURRYS is always more expensive for white goods, and they claim to price match comet, or any other retailer!,

trouble is that they only price match if the goods are in stock in the other retailer, and NO-ONE holds stock of white goods!, so no price match.

also, currys refuses to price match on similar terms, so if another retailer takes three days to deliver for stock, Currys will not offer that price match.

and finally, if they do have to price match (I had great pleasure in buying a half price printer from them, just to annoy the manager there) they offer crappy excuses and really try to get out of it, saying that you can only price match if you have the extra warranties,
suddenly there is no stock....etc...etc
