i tried to burn evox to a cd-rw and then play that but it just boots straight to xbmp. . .
any ideas

Well, don't sweat. I found that booting from the CDRW can be hit and miss. Either keep playing with the boot CD (eject, reinsert, reboot, repeat as needed). OR. re burn the CD with evox on it. You may have created a dodgey boot disk. (Make sure you're burning an Xbox ISO image to the disc and not a regular ISO image!!)
