Samba deriving from unix/linux allows you to share files from your Pc to the xbox, alot of mediaplayer users with smallish xbox harddrives use smb to stream movies and music from their PCs to their xboxs for viewing/listening without having to tranfer the physical files -
Shoutcast is an internet music channel that streams near cd quality music, xbox mediaplayer allows the xbox to act as a more expensive internet music jukebox.
A wireless network is VERY easy and safe to set up.

Because it was a question about XBMP and the use of streaming/networking media files. Where would you have put it?
