I have seen messages that suggest that folders with more than 14 files can cause problems....but it seems to be intermittent.... also just found this thread on file name restrictions http://www.xboxmedia...t=ST;f=2;t=2950
Worth considering if you have long file names or use symbols

Don't think it's the file names at fault - I had no problems accessing the SMB shares before.
The problem with >~14 files sounds more like my problem. I wanted to confirm that there is a problem with xbmp, because I also recently rebuilt my server, and I can't be sure thats not the problem. That said, the server is working fine from another computer so I doubt it's at fault.

I'm glad you brought this up, i did ask on a new topic but no one replied yet.
I have been having the same problem, can't get smb sharing to work. The xns streaming is ok though.
I think i tried the last 4 or 5 builds and they all have this problem, and i can't make it work.
The 2.3 complex version (15th feb) is fine though !!
Cheers Colin..

. Is anyone having this same problem? Xbmp does not hang when trying to play the song, just sits there. Could be on my end but im having no problems with other comps on the network accessing it.
SMB server: linux

Actually, I don't think it has anything to do with the number of files in the dir. I can run off Windows SMB shares all day long....but using Samba 2.2.7a on my Gentoo box does not work at all. FYI, my Gentoo box has Samba setup as a PDC and works perfectly (roaming profiles, SMB print server and all) for all of my Wintendo boxen as well as my Turtle Beach Audiotron. Yes, it even works on boxes that are not joined to the domain....so....technically it should work unless there is a bug in the SMB implementation in XBMP. My Xbox doesn't lock up....it just simply shows nothing at all...but I can still step back in the menus. Currently using March 12th CVS build.
As a side note, the new ccXStream 1.0.14 works great. Added '-march=pentium2 -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer' to the cflags....not sure if it speeds it up...but it should definitely be more optomized for my dual celeron box :-)

Ah, well this would explain my problems. I upgraded my dual celeron box to gentoo, and that's when I started getting problems. Anyone know if the developers know about this problem?

I got a problem like this also whenever I try to access a file on my PC through the network I can see them, but it freezes when I try to play it. Any ideas?
