If i were to get HD content and upload it to my box, does the xbox have the balls to play it back, or will it skip out like a mofo?

i just want to test out my hdtv, considering i dont have a reciever for it yet.

i would, but i dont know where to find highdefinition video on the web..
basically, im asking if media player outputs 1080i?  cause i am betting it only does 480p/i

ok, i am confused.. lets say i do find a clip on the net that has a HD resolution (some stuff here), capable of 1080i - which every HDTV in Canada and the US should support.

Does media player output this HD content to the TV in 1080i, or just 'downsample' it too 480 lines?

-tommorow i will try playing these files, but i have a feeling the xbmp wont play media player 9 series videos, can i get xbmp to play Windows 9 series videos by Installing a codec, is this even possible?  if not, how should i reencode it?

i feel like a n00b again, but if the xbox can handle the output of 1080i video i will be a happy person.  And yes, i have a display that can handle it, im more concerned about the xbox handling it.

anyone know how to play .ts files (streaming HD ATSC)?

You play .ts file with a Hipix or MyHD Hdtv pci card

Not only that, but most content is still available on normal TV resolution modes, so while it ould be possible to support higher resolutions and all, there would be not mush sense on doing so, as content would simply be not available.

Currently XBMP does support 480p. I am currently working on adding 720p and 1080i support to it. Even if hdtv does work, it will be hard pressed to have an Xbox push out true hdtv at that bitrate. So  720p/1080i resolution will only be useful for movies encoded at that resolution and at a bitrate the XBMP can handle. It will also be useful for displaying high-def photos.

Thanks ChocoboLee, i cant wait too see it try to spit out 1080i.  If it cant handle it, at least the menus will look nice cool.gif

Ive read it does support 1080i.  The game Dragons Lair 3D supposedly supports this.  And definitely it will support 480p.  Yes , you do need the cables.
