I am not a newbie I just always used a friends account to login. I am trying to mod a V1.3 XBOX. I have done several with no problems but this one is really strange. I soldered the 2 points on the top and after all the trouble I went ahead and did the one on the bottom too. Yes I know that is not necessary on a 1.3 but I had to try it. I am using 007 raincoat. I have tried both ways (telnet and evox installer). No matter what I do solder, solder and resolder it will not let me write to the bios. This is not the strange part.
Last night I went ahead and soldered an X2 lite in it because I was tired of messing with it and that does not work either. Now some might think well this guy can't solder. I can,and I have a Magnify Lamp. I took this mod chip out of a working XBOX put it in this one. When it would not work I put it back in the XBOX it came out of and it still worked perfect.
This XBOX was plugged into 220v by mistake at one point. I repaired the power supply of which only needed a couple capasitors and a fuse and it works just like it was new with no problems.
Does anyone have any ideas??? <

Check for solder splashes. Shorts or missing components near the jumper points can cause FRAGs (been there, done that) or flash-not-writable errors.
If the LPC mod taken from the other Xbox didn't work, you've probably got a 1.4 or 1.5 Xbox that needs additional wiring to provide 3.3V and GND connections. <
