Hi all, i'm in Mexico and i want to buy a good iron, i think electronic controlled station would be best since there is not a cheaper option in my country (like the 8 usd radioshack one) the only option that i have for low heat iron is a controlled one, or a dual heat 20/40watt iron, but another option is a Proam one model 400-200 from 200 Celsius, to 450 Celsius for 74 usd, the cheapest weller option cost to me about 60 usd but it only offers me in five scales from 5-40 watt (not degrees way), i though that the proam one it is good but this iron is useable or it would be usuable for any mod (ps1, ps2, and xbox) and i though it is a good inversion so i could use for future mods, this iron would be good for me that im practicing my soldering skills, doing in this way i have the securest way, i had solded about 6 xboxes with a 30 watt iron, but i think is risky, i haven't blown a xbox in this 6 mods, but i want to have no much heat in my soldering praticing...
So the questions are:
This price for the proam iron is good?, remember i'm Mexico; the weller option doesn't like too much cuz i has not degrees and i doesn't like too much the included tip but what can you say, and the better models cost to me above 120 usd
Good idea buying a controlled iron?
