Title: Kernel Version Not Properly Detected After Tsop Fl
Post by: ArcticWolf on March 17, 2004, 10:33:00 AM
Here's my system.
Xbox: 1.5
K: 1.00.5101.01
D: 1.00.5659.04
I flashed the TSOP with X2 4981.06 and I'm running EvoX 3935.
My evox.ini has this line.
ROM = "X2 4981.06",0xca25c9b3721da8c96c4770515dbcda07
When I look in the System Settings, this is what I see.
BIOS Version   X2 4981.06
Kernel Version   1.00.4980.06
Why does it say that I have kernel 1.00.4980.06?
The evox.ini has no entry for 4980.
What's the difference between the BIOS version and the kernel version?

The evox.ini entry is only for the version that appears on your EvoX skin (if it has it).  Otherwise, it says "Unknown".  It's just cosmetic.

The Settings menu shows the actual kernel version as read from the BIOS.  The official X2 4981.06 BIOS has a kernel version of "1.00.4980.06", because they forgot to update it.  Therefore, there's nothing wrong.  The 4981.67 BIOS has the same problem.

Unofficial edits of the 4981 BIOS that correct the kernel version exist, but I don't think the Xecuter team ever corrected it themselves.
