You only need 2 for ALL xbox versions. You only increase your chances of screwing up by trying to mess with more bottom points.

never mind i got it sorted, it was the soldering.. even had the little rersistor come off and had to resolder that in place.... man those little resistors are small |

R7D2, man was that small... what happened was i let my mate do it as its his xbox and i thought he'd be fine with it so left him to it... looked at it and he covered R7D2 in solder hehe thought it was knackered but it still booted so thought i'd try and fix it, the resistor got suck on the soldering iron when i tried removing some of the solder but managed to find it again and stick it back in... could'nt belive it when i tried a multimeter on it, it still worked smallest thing i've had to solder, i had blobs of solder bigger than it

I got a 1.5 to flash, but something went wrong. when I rebooted, it does the on off thing three times then flashes red and green. Any ideas? Isn't that the bad bios error? I used the same bios I have used on the last 5 boxes I moded. but this is the first 1.5 I have done.

Edit your raincoat.conf file to look like this: Flash = 0x04BA,"ALX2+ R3 FLASH",0x40000 Flash = 0x01a4,"AMD - Am29F040B",0x80000 Flash = 0x01d5,"AMD - Am29F080B",0x100000 Flash = 0x01da,"AMD - Am29LV800B",0x100000 Flash = 0x015b,"AMD - Am29LV800B",0x100000 Flash = 0x378c,"AMIC - A29002",0x40000 Flash = 0x04d5,"FUJITSU - MBM29F080A",0x100000 Flash = 0x04a4,"FUJITSU - MBM29F040C",0x80000 Flash = 0xadb0,"Hynix - HY29F002",0x40000 Flash = 0xadd5,"Hynix - HY29F080",0x100000 Flash = 0x20f1,"ST - M29F080A",0x100000 Flash = 0xc236,"MACRONIX - MX29F022NTPC",0x40000 Flash = 0xbf61,"SST - SST49LF020",0x40000 Flash = 0x20b0,"ST - 29F002",0x40000 Flash = 0x20f1,"ST - M29F080A",0x100000 Flash = 0x89a6,"Sharp - LHF08CH1",0x100000 Flash = 0xda0b,"Winbond - W49F002U",0x40000 Flash = 0xda8c,"Winbond - W49F020",0x40000 Flash = 0x0900,"Winbond - W49F020T",0x40000 then try to flash - or you can bridge all 3 sets of points on the MB - 2 sets on top 1 set on bottom, edit your evox.ini with that info and it should flash.

Nothing happens if 0x0900 is in evox.ini, simple the erase process fails because without #OE and #WE drived correctly, the flash understand only the read command.

If you are using the 007 raincoat package that is on #xbins you have a raincoat version that is too old. I ran into problems using raincoat on an xbox that had a winbond chip on it. I checked and re-checked my solder points and nothing was wrong but i kept on getting an error message that was saying it could not erase or flash my chip. All you have to do is replace the file called raincoat in the 007 memory card directory and replace it with a newer version of raincoat (.501)
QUOTE
yeah, 0x0900 means the chip isnt write enabled
