Title: Help-bad Mod Repair
Post by: smokeman on December 15, 2003, 06:53:00 PM
Here's a picture of what's broken(pics taken from here in the tutorials section, hope noone minds..
(IMG:http://arhosting.com/ebay/ebaybadmod.jpg)

the yellow circles are missing chips from a bad attempt at tsop flashing....and the 3rd trace is almost gone(just a tiny bit there..)
The good news is that the MB boots from a mod chip, so not a total loss,
but I would like to attempt to repair the damage, and try to flash the tsop.
I'm betting thye didn't even get far enough to attempt to flash...if it looks this bad :-)

even if it has a bad flash, I will solder a 29 wire mod, and restore...if I can get the parts replaced, and the 3rd trace restored to some point on the mb that is...

Any help appreciated, like what parts are those exactly that are missing?
and where does that trace lead, so I can solder a small wire back to some point on the mb...?

Thanks,
smokeman

Those are capacators...you gotta find the right capacitence to replace em.  They are fairly cheap.

You can go to the hardware forum and hit up the guys there as there's several of em that frequent that forum that know a hell of alot more about electrical components than me, I just know that they are capacators ;)

Twistedsymphony is an electrical god there in that forum, I know for a fact he would know.
