I dunno if there's a mac version or not, but Bink and Smacker tools help a lot on PC with video conversions.  I did the halo 2 videos on the newer Halo disk with no problems.

So far there isnt anything to play xmv's on the pc (correct me if im wrong). Bink/Smaker will only do .Bik files (found in alot of games) it will also decode common video formats to avi (QT and stuff)
