Title: Shutdown During Flash ->frag
Post by: Futura on December 02, 2003, 01:11:00 PM
Here's the deal: a certain person, almost possitively looking like this  :blink: , screwed up my perfectly running xbox v1.0

My xbox is used by several people, for watching movies, playing dvd's and games, and other stuff. Now, Mr.  :blink:  wanted to try this for himself whilst I wasn't at home for the weekend, and apparently he flashed my Tsop (or as he puts it: "I saw a biosscreen, I accidentaly pushed a button, and the screen showed a bar named "Deleting", he also says he never left Evox, but I'll leave this chunk of information in the middle). Okay, that's not the end of the world mate, no hard feelings. But why did you have to close down the xbox?
"Well, I paniced, and thought the best thing to do was to turn it off". After a few slaps in his face and one hell of an ugly punch in his stomach (just kidding guys :) ), I'm stuck here with an Xbox that is fragged whilst shutting down when it was deleting the Bios, or so I reconstruct the event.

Are there solutions to this problem? And if so, what are the best options (I have to have someone looking at it one way or another, because I don't own the tools to fix it).

Install a modchip and your xbox will be up and running again.

Recovering a bad flashed tsop is pretty difficult, but you should be able to do it using a matrix modchip (search for a tutorial) if some of your friends have one. Otherwise just install a modchip and fuck the tsop, really makes no difference.

hopefully it only erased the first part of the bios. cause the 2nd part can be recovered by putting 5+ and A19 togther.

better yet, put both a18 AND a19 to 3.3v, boot from the top 1/4 of the bios, see if that work

otherwsie you can install 2 switches

GND-a18-3.3v
GND-a19-3.3v

and just play with them in different combinations and see if it boots

Like this?:

Solder one wire per point you see circled in red on this picture

(IMG:http://www.xbox-scene.com/imageserver2/multibios-tsop/image002.jpg)

You must have 3 wires, long enough to have one of their end out of the xbox. Now listen carefully. Put everything back in the Xbox, and join the three wires ends. Boot your console. It will use the first quarter of the tsop, the 256k you flashed on the 1meg eeprom. Once booted, and evox accessed (or 007),[Thanks Troed] separate the three wires, you can flash it again... Please beware of what you're doing, that's your last chance to get out of this mess without buying a LPC.

If you leave the three wires soldered, your TSOP will become a 256k one like on the latest (after v1.1) versions of Xbox.

<thx 2 Henrideath>

So I should first try to boot ut whit a18 on 3.3, an the a19 on 3.3? Bon, I will ask my dealer if he can sort this out. Muchos Gracias!
