<floors the sarcasm pedal>

Way to resurrect an old thread with an offtopic, bannable request.

<let's off the pedal>

Go to the tutorial section and read about 'the usual places'.  Xbins - ask for it by name.

I recompiled the xbedump of Xbox-Linux (http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/xbox-linux/xbedump/) with the key released in this XBH thread. This should allow you to boot any xbe with the 007:AUF gamesave trick.

http://dwl.xbox-scen...xbedump-007.rar (for linux)

I managed to boot evox resigned with the program above - so the trick works.
I can't boot a 2nd .xbe from evo-x (I get the 'xbox needs service' screen).
Maybe if I also sign that 2nd .xbe with the program it might work ...

A really nice trick - now you can boot evo-x and probably also other homebrew software without the need to open your xbox.
It will also make it easier for those that want to flash their TSOP (it will still require to solder some jumpers - but now you are able to flash with evo-x instead of with xbox linux live and raincoat).
It will ofcourse never be the same as modchip: no direct boot - you will always have to go through the 007-game and saved game loading , you have to buy 007:AUF and USB Xbox Memorycard (which is more expensive then a modchip), it doesn't have special features like the modchip bioses (HDD swap , no patch hack , eject fix/trick , debug xbe , ...) and right now it's unknown what will all be possible to boot (also larger programs ?).
Also for those who wonder: right now it's not possible (yet) to boot backup games - they are expecting to work from D:/ and you can't swap DVD during the trick (orignal bios resets on eject).

Let me know if you tried this trick and what are your findings.

I can verify it does work and I will be releasing a video later on for proof.

Also the Evox team should consider using this signing code to somehow 'sign on the fly' (technicly not sign, but still) allowing non-mod users to run any XBE from Evox using this trick.

Also I plan on testing xbox-live with this as soon as a win32 port is made (or I install linux to use the program)

From the information I got the 007trick patches the kernel in memory.
So a crc-check will probably fail and xlive won't work.

Anyway - I don't see how it would be possible to boot a game with the 007trick atm ... bios make it possible games don't run from D:/ ... but with the 007trick it won't work from HD. (it will look for files on D).

You also can't swap DVD ... the xbox resets on eject.

As for patching the kernal.. I have no idea

But it is possible to still rip games with Evox FTP and then have a built in Evox patcher to 'patch' the game executable to be launched from Evox (as Evox was launched from 007)

Evox is fully functional when run via the exploit, except you can't launch anything... So you can still access your Xbox and format drives.

I believe on the xbox-linux mailing list, asterisk mentioned that he figured out how to stop the xbox from rebooting on eject, even after an app w/o the appropriate media flags had been launched.

Also the hack does patch the xbox's public key in memory.  That will last until a reboot.  Evox surely can launch any other app signed with that same key.

Unfortunetly, the Win32 signer isn't working.

Signing boxplorer works but then when I verify it:

it looks like it's just the verify that has a problem.

I signed a xbe with the win32 app , and it verified OK with the linux app.

Well I signed the XMBP app and tried to launch it

no go

i think the signer has problems with XBEs that are bigger?

Did you try the win32 verify?  all you said was you signed it in win32 and verified in Linux

if the win32 verify fails on it, then thats the problem

but if it works, then im not sure what im doing wrong but it isnt verifying correctly

I guess XBMP also refers to D:

Hacked bioses remap D on the on the location you run a XBE.
But using the 007trick the D drive is still the DVD-ROM... so it can't find the files it's looking for.

that's if you launch evox ...
but if you launch another xbe directly from the 007hack will D not still be the DVD-ROM? Or does the actual 007trick also changed this ?

You are right tho that after evox is launched 'D' is 'E'.

Partition addresses are hardcoded into the kernel.

Hacked kernels add the partition information for an F drive.

Since the 007 hack only patches the public key of the real MS kernel, the F partition remains unknown.

XBOX LIVE W/O Modchip needed Boot from HDD!!!!!!
How to boot games using xbox live. Boot Evox through the 007 Hack and place the xbox live game under the E drive and use BoXplorer to load the default.xbe. Perhaps no modchip hash would be used and Xbox live games should boot up as if no modchip was detected. How simply was that. At least someone try it if they can please before any flaming shiscabob!

Thinking about it this is probaby because the 007 hack is basically used to cause an overflow. If you tried running a signed game from a signed EvoX then the game would not boot becasue there is no buffer to overrun.

Please correct me if i'm wrong.

The game (and XBLive) has to be signed with the 007 key too, and that fails, I got no retail game or even xboxdash.xbe working after signing it with the 007 key.

Don't forget that the 007 hack merely patches the public key.

This means the kernel still checks for things like media flag, region etc.

Games have a media flag indicating that they are on the only meant to be run from a DVD-9.

Just change the media flag to 0x80000007

That will enable all media.
Title: Using 007 Xploit To Boot Other Xbe's

you could use the old no-patch hacks that were used for Xtender and first evox-bios.
or for newer games (where location mediaflag changed) you can try the no-patch hack2 patchers.

:::sigh:::

Nope. Non-stock DVD drives won't allow the Xbox to see the disc as the correct type (and besides, the drive itself will only see the DVD movie portion)

Really, don't try and stretch the situation here, there isn't anything "new"  here - the whole deal is well understood by now, a year into hacking the Xbox.  wink.gif

C:Documents and SettingsJacob GorenDesktopxbedump>xbedumpwin32 xbe C:Documents and SettingsJacob GorenDesktopxbedumpdefault.xbe mv out.xbe DEFAULT.xbe

Answer: no.

The correct syntax: c:>xbedumpwin32 default.xbe -sign

then after that executes, there will be a file called out.xbe.  all you do is delete your default.xbe and rename out.xbe default.xbe.

yea i put xbmp in my e:appsxbmp folder and i go to load it and i get error 21. do i have to run the win32 version of xbedump on it or..? if i do, is it on xbins? thanx

I used the win32 version of xbedump to get it working.

REMEMBER:

xbedump will create a file called out.xbe... RENAME THIS TO DEFAULT.XBE and delete the "old" default.xbe that came with xbmp.

ZZziggy and Jumpy Beans, I haven't tried pj64, just UltraXLE and StellaX and EvoX and MameX.

I haven't gotten all to run except for MameX, so far... I think I am missing something. I have been so busy this week, I haven't had much of a chance to sign any more .xbe files.

Its not hard to get UltraXLE to run. I used the windoze version of xbedump.

xbedumpWin32.exe default.xbe -sign
xbedumpWin32.exe out.xbe -vh -st

then rename out.xbe to default.xbe

Be sure to patch both .xbe files. I tell  you what, if I ever run into a .xbe file from now on, I am patching it using xbedumpWin32.exe because the .xbe will run under a modded bios or it will run under 007 exploit.

^you have to open up a command prompt then run the program.

I cant get any n64 emulators to run on an unmodded. Ive tried ultrahle and pj64 and while they both run, they also both give me an error 21 code when trying to run a rom.

Any ideas?

I have now loaded a mem card with various bios/size files 256k, 512K, 1MB . I rewrote the evox.ini to suit the varieties of bioses I'm using (removed most the other entries that can't be used).
With this mem card I have flashed a few TSOPs on unmodded Xbox's (apart from soldering the flash points) without a prob. Switchable 2 and 4 bios tsop with No PC required now I've got my handy mem card and orig 007 Game.
I've only worked on the v1 and 1.1 xbox with the new toy atm.
This exploit does wonders for creating little user friendly tools to get those unmodded boxes doin what ya want wink.gif

Cheers smile.gif

Update:

I got XNES to run on my unmodded and it works with roms, only problem is that xnes is ungodly slow and isnt worth the effort right now.

Still cannot get a working n64 emulator to boot a rom. With UltaXLE now instead of getting an error21 the screen just goes black when trying to boot a rom, so it looks like im getting closer.

I agree this needs to happen.  Of coarse all the mod chip companies may worry but for no real reason.  There still are reasons to get a mod chip.  Mainly so you don't have to load 007 and not everything works from that method.

if you hex edit the xbsavegame.dat file, and change 0000:0f05 to e:gamesdefault.xbe would it boot e:gamesdefault.xbe? if so, could you copy a game to e:games and it will boot with this hack? you'd need a mod to copy the game there, but it would be interesting to see. (i dont have the game.) also, i thought the xbl checks did a crc on the bios, not kernel. (hope i'm not sounding foolish there, i dunno about that stuff... yet  cool.gif )

no, you could put a file at e:\games\ without a mod... I have.  Simply use the 007 hack with Evo-X and ftp your box.  Then you can put files anywhere on the E: drive you want.

you run it through a command prompt.
then put the default.xbe in the folder xbedumpwin32.exe is in.
then run these commands:

 xbedumpWin32.exe default.xbe -sign

 xbedumpWin32.exe out.xbe -vh -st

then delete the default.xbe.
then rename out.xbe to default.xbe.
the put it in your folder.
thnen your done.

Hmm... I'm not sure. Maybe it needs the slashes and the .exe? Sorry, can't help you...   huh.gif

*edit* You mean it closes directly after you've opened it? You have to boot it using CMD...

I found this cool text about Music Mixer:

Music Mixer is comprised of a few different components. There's the software
that runs on the Xbox itself, a client that can be installed on a PC that
shares a network connection with the Xbox
, and a quarter-inch plug karaoke
microphone and adapter that will attach to the Xbox controller similarly to
how the Xbox Live headset connects.

Now THIS sounds interesting... smile.gif */EDIT*

OK i'm a n00b but just check this for me:

I've siigned evox default.xbe and added that and evox.ini to a 007hackedsavefile

If i now boot auf and load save from harddrive i should get evox dash.

If i now have a resigned mamex default.xbe and ftp that and it's files to a directory on the e: drive i should be able to launch mame from my harddrive without the need of a chip once evox has booted yes?

if so how do i edit the evox.ini to autoinclude mame's default.xbe this is the bit i'm not too sure on.

Thanks.

You should edit the evox.ini before you transfer it to your Xbox, so that you can boot MameX from it... Or just AutoAdd things in the evox.ini so that you get an item to every folder in the E:-drive... Hoped I helped you, if I misunderstood you, just yell... wink.gif

Playing backups on XBox Live is possibly the worst thing that could ever happen with this scene.

What's so bad about it,  i mea as long as trainers don't work....

It's the last stanchion of (albeit, forced) honesty left when it comes to modchips and the use of pirated software.

Yeah, I know, piracy and software have gone hand in hand since the personal computer came to market, and yes, the industry is still alive and well.  But, MS is having a hard enough time getting a market share in the land of consoles, and they are losing a serious amount of money trying to do it.  Things like this just won't help.

Every game pirated is another nail in the XBox's coffin.

is there a way to go back to evox after you launched a program or an emulator?
like if i run xbmp and i want to go back to evox, to run something like an emulator. is there a way to do this?

Well sort yes there is.  Put an option in the program section of your My Program section that allows you to re-run the Evox's default.xbe from the save directory.  I have sucessfully re-lauched Evox from withing boXplorer, XCommander, and XBMP.

Well, shit, now I look at the front page, and it looks like, thanks to Complex! Loader, today might be that sad day I was talking about...

Ya, the Complex !Loader is a cool idea, too bad if locks up 99% of the time and only works with v1.0 and v1.1 Xboxes.  Even with those Xboxes you still will have lots of lockups.  Since I have a v1.2 Xbox I get an error message when loading that says it may lock up, but it will not even find apps, well if they are unsigned (locks up looking).  It can find the signed apps on the HD without a problem, just cannot run them.  So until they get a more stable version out I wouldn't suggest wasting too much time with it.

It works fine on what it says it does.  v1.1 and v1.0 xboxes, you have a 1.2....don't you see the difference????? jeez....it locks up because it doesn't know how to patch your kernel, only the older ones.
