Post by: Phant on November 08, 2005, 08:02:00 PM: alright i followed my website tutorial instructions on unmoddin my xbox heres wut it said

To unmod your Xbox turn it on without a disk in it and keep the disc tray open and it will load the menu you were at when you installed the softmod. Now from here click on Restore MS BACKUP. Then when thats done restart your Xbox and it should return to the Standard MS Dash. Now its back to normal (*Note-some people have trouble connecting to Xbox live after restoring MS Dash, To fix this simple go to Network Settings and make sure the IP is on automatic).

heres the scary news...

i did all that and i turned my xbox back on and it my xbox started fragging and a screen came up sayin i need to call xbox customer support i was talkin wit this guy on halo mods and he said it might be bad enuff i might have to buy a new xbox... unless i cant ftp it i dont kno wut to do!!!! its not like xbox is gonna help me fix my xbox after i softmodded it anyone help?

My only question is this... did you create a M$ dash backup before you first tried softmodding? You can't restore something you didn't backup in the first place.

Anyway, there's no need to get a new xbox... worst case scenario, you'll need a modchip.

Post by: blame canada on November 08, 2005, 08:25:00 PM: 13 - kernel - Dashboard launch fail (due to missing/bad key, or anything else that would prevent it from running) and the dashboard didn't specify why it failed.

so that explains ^^^^ that you have part of your dashboard missing, so if you can boot a dvd, use an auto-installer to fix it, or boot up the game you used to softmod w/ and re-softmod.

You can read about hotswapping in the exploit forums (I think, haven't been there in a while.. )

You will need to chip your xbox now.

Grab a 15-30w soldering iron from Radio shack or The Source by CC (if in canada) and some really thin, rosin core solder.

Practice on old computer components, then order a chip like the Duox2 or if you want, an Xecuter 3

Or, get a solderless chip.

Try turning on your xbox with an OEM xbox game already in the dvd drive.

If it can coldboot a game... then you can resoftmod your xbox.

· Press eject button to power on your box
· Stick original (exploitable) game in dvd drive
· Press the power button to turn off xbox
· Press power button again to turn on xbox

... the exploitable game should load & you can re-softmod your xbox.

Now coldboot with the exploitable game you used to softmod, and load the exploit save..

You should now have access to FTP and other stuff..

Because I don't know how the softmod that you use works, just install the softmod like the first time.

EDIT: I see what you just said... so, grab a copy of Slayers and extract it with XISO and retrieve the MS dash files, then, ftp into your xbox, and place these files in the C:\ drive.

turn off xbox, turn back on, should work fine

Here's what you'll need to do.... coldboot with a recent XBL compatible game in the drive. Select the Xbox Live options and your xbox should automatically reinstall the M$ dash files.

Post by: Alex548 on November 08, 2005, 09:24:00 PM: Your xbox will detect that you don't have the appropriate M$ files to access Xbox Live so it'll reinstall them for you (from the game disc).

I don't remember if it works with Halo 2, but I know it works with Conker and other recent Xbox Live compatible games.

If that doesn't work... do what IAmCanadian says.

Coldboot the game, then select the Xbox Live Tab from within the game.

It should detect there's missing files on your hard drive and it'll reinstall them for you.

Select xbox live, and it should say blablabla would you like to update or something similar.

Post by: Phant on November 08, 2005, 09:33:00 PM: ok... i started halo 2 up... i tried to sign into xbox live but it took me to the trouble shooting screen... and i clicked on begin trouble shooting... and it just went the screen before the dashboard (the screen that 1st comes up with the xbox logo and miscrosfot under it) and it just took me back to the game

Is that the most recent XBL compatible game you have?

Then get XISO from xbins, and extract the MS dashboard files from the slayers ISO, then ftp them over into the C:\ drive with the FTP access from running the hacked gamesave on the exploitable game.
