NOTE : It seems a small skinning bug has been introduced where if text items in the skin dosn't have a <width> section in them they will not be displayed like they did on previous builds, So if your skins are now missing text items this is the reason you will need to add the <width> parts to the skin.xml to display them again.
Hopefully unleashX will fix this so we don't have to update all skins

My dash is in the root of c and it named unleashx.xbe, not sure if that has anything to do with it. Xbins still down so guess I will have to wait a little longer to get my hands on the dash.......

Edit: For the record, I installed a fresh UnleashX_0_38_0515A.rar, and I was able to update using that version. Also, I running Unleash from F:/Dashboards/UnleashX.

Force PAL60 still doesn't work straight away. The tip from a user a little while back 'enable force pal60, run game in NTSC, IGR, then run in Pal'....runs NTSC games in PAL without sound or video skipping.
Just a heads up. It'd be really cool if I could run all my games in PAL at full speed.
Ex: running GTA3 NTSC in NTSC on my PAL television/system gives me smooth video but has a very noticeable overbrightness eg blacks appear as a very dark grey.
running in PAL gives me perfect colour but skipping audio/video (most noticable on the opening videos)
running in PAL with the above mentioned trick gives me PAL colour and no skipping.
Anyone running PAL and has the NTSC version of GTA3 or Vice City (San Andreas has no issues), give it a try.

Change from your current skin to the default one, then run the auto-update. You may want to reboot after changing skin (I did). After that, my auto-update ran fine, it rebooted twice like usual, and then I set it back to my normal skin without any problem.

In the new unleashx setup under video you can choose 480p, 720p, and 1080i. For the unleashx dash I like to use 720p cause it seems more responsive so I disable 1080i.
I use 1080i for my XBMC but when I disable it in unleashx I can no longer use it in media center or on any games I play. If I enable it, I can use it but the dash automaticlly picks 1080i.
Is there a way to manually choose what the dash is gonna use while leaving all HD options enabled? Thank you.

Auto-switch is still EEPROM safe, and so is the persistent setting. If anyone have noticed, it doesn't require an 'Unlocked' HDD to save/modify those setting.

Yes, modify the setting to your liking (via this dash or MS Dash) to suit other games/apps. Then MANUALLY edit config.xml and set the options you don't want to off. UnleashX will obey that setting.

Have controled the gateway and IP's its correct, the link in XBMC and UX are the same...

im no expert but id almost say your bios has a probem with something...
i had a problem similar with my game directory being gone, 40+ games gone...well..thats a pain...but i switched my bios and everything was still there and had no need for a format or any drastic measures!!

When ever i reboot the xbox or restart the dash it seems to change the MAC address of the xbox. Allthough if you go into settings the MAC address is always the same. but then when viewed from another computer the MAC is always different.
I am trying to get my DHCP server to assign my XBOX the same IP everytime it connects. Was working fine till i installed Unleashx as my Dash.
Any ideas?

cant say much about the mac addy(diddent know it could be changed, or maybe somethings reading from the wrong area?), but as far as DHCP, it should under normal circumstances be given the ip in the order it connects to the router, meaning your computer is xxx.xxx.x.100 and your xbox is xxx.xxx.x.101 and unless you have other connections that may interfere, id suggest going with a static ip, hassle free for the most part, and the ip is always the same, hope this helps a little bit

Not sure if this is a bug, or if it was redesigned...but this time I was notified 'An update is available' and only saw the ok button. Then I had to go the settings screen to get the update...seems like last time it said 'An update is available, would you like to download it now?' yes/no. Now I DID see this screen, but only after manually running the update from the settings screen.
Next issue...after the update, some [not all] of my game previews would not work. I tried to see if maybe it was only the wmv's, or only the xmv's - but most are wmv so its hard to tell. They were all working fine after the previous update to V0.39.0212A Build 570. I tried reverting back to V0.39.0212A Build 570 by renaming xbe's, but now even in the previous version they were not working. I reverted back to V0.39.0222a Build 572, and checked each items details. It turns out that at some point along the line I had renamed some of the videos to preview.wmv instead of mxm_ss.wmv, so it wasnt picking it up...but the strange thing is, its been like that for a while and it worked fine after the last update? Its almost as if the previous version would check for preview.wmv if the specified file was not there, but this one wont??? Just wanted to provide feedback.
One last thing. I have my own installer, and I am able to cram it full of goodies by rar'ing the hell out of everything. 80% of the files I install are rar'ed equalling a total of 13 rar files in 2.85GB, so I rely heavily on the unrar feature. Up until the previous update V0.39.0212A, these would unrar without a hitch...tho it took quite a while, and would cause the music that was being played from the same disk the rars were on to skip badly. Also the GUI doesnt always keep up with whats actually happening...in other words it will hang on 'Extracting File' for quite a while, then suddenly jump half way across and then move on to the next file. Anyway, these are minor problems because other than that it would work great. But ever since the upgrade to V0.39.0212A I'm losing half the rar's. It isnt taking as long as it should, and it often gives errors - or files are simply missing from the unrared folders. I will add one last thing about this issue, as I am hoping its resolved in this most recent upgrade. The rar's contain FOLDERS which already exist on the hdd. In other words, within the rar file you would find 'UDATA\0001561605\000000000\FILES.TXT' [this is just an example]. So in this case, the UDATA folder already exists, and the 0001561605 folder may as well. I dont know if this will help solve this problem or not?
Argh..I knew there was one more thing! The audio issue does happen to me as well, tho its HARDLY a big deal. Basically when you have it set to random, the song abrubptly ends maybe 3 seconds early. NO BIG DEAL...but I can give you more details if it will help...

Probably wont post the xml for that version since there is a newer version out
As for the soundtracks yeah its a little anoying but you have to open up the media player Press Start go to Manage Tracks Select the one you want to rename press on it and select rename
Or just go to the custom music dir ftp over the Info.xml file and modify it then ftp it back and reboot
It would be nice if it defaulted to the dir name not Custom Sountrack for each one

My xbox is broken at the mo, should have a new one up and running by Monday... PM me if you want to track this down UnleashX, I'm happy to help how I can.
One other thing, it's to do with Xport's emus... they all share the same game icon. Xport mentioned recently that it's to do with the way certain dashes read the icons or something, but he also said he was gonna try and give each game a different title or somesuch for his new releases. Not sure if he did this with the new xboyadvance since I can't test
But maybe if you look into this? Also I mentioned the save game manager bug a while ago which should be easy to fix. Haven't seen any notice that is has been. (Basically I don't think it deletes BOTH udata and tdata folders for the game... one of them gets left behind. It should remove both).

Ok I got problems with the new info.xml for music getting corrupt allready and duplicating names/times of songs into other ones
In the images below the song "99 In the shade" had its info over written by "Ride Cowboy Ride" you can tell its an error because the skinning items like SongTrack and SongLength still use the info from the file not the info.xml and get it right
anyways here's some images to explain it
See the info is wrong in this one
Notice the SongTrack tag in the skin is right but the playlist is wrong

build another xbox and when transfering my files from 1 xbox to another i'm having problems getting the games to play everything has transfered without any errors but when i try and play the game i get loading then xbox reboots back to uleash dash. this is happening in the xbox that the files were transfered to the transfer from xbox is still working ok
i have deleted the items.xml and tried loading each game through the file manager so it would recreat a new items.xml
i have done this twice and it's driving me bongers
xbox has 200 gig hd
x3 with 3294 bio

In the version before (570) my custom skin had to be re-aligned but it did say in the update log that the dash has been visually re-aligned. My custom skin still looks the same in 572 as 570.

Bug2: If you use "Move" in an "Action" and Arg1 is a directory with subdirectories, it will move the files in the directory, but not the subdirectories or their files, and result in an error message.
This command working correctly, along with the date variable somebody mentioned in a previous post, would allow for some dynamic backup scripts. For instance, I would like to move my custom soundtracks folder out of my U&TDATA (because of the size) before backing up my U&TDATA, and being able to tag that backup with date and time would be more descriptive and allow for multiple backups. Ditto with apps, dashboards, etc.
Another alternative would be to include a Backup feature in the Game Saves Manager.
Suggestion: I was also thinking that maybe a better implementation of the HD Lock/Unlock feature in this version of UnleashX would be to make it an Action (not included in the default config.xml) so that more experienced users can include it with password protection, rather than in settings where people can kill their softmod.

1) That would be because the skin is designed to be that way and probably has a width tag on it that keeps taking up less space the higher the rezolution you use

3) leave the live update server blank the default and only working liveupdate server at the momment is programmed into the code so just blank out the feild and it may work

Here are also a few ideas that I had since now seems like a time while changes are happening. Most of them are ones that I liked in Avalaunch back when I used it, and are not available in UnleashX.
1. Shoutcast: It would be nice to have an option for shoutcast as background music.
2. Xecuter settings: It it possible to have an option to change some of the settings for the Xecuter3 chip directly in the Unleash Settings.
3. Xbox2Xbox connection: I know Unleash has a ftp option, however I have run into file naming errors from time to time. Avalaunch has an option to set up an xbox2xbox connection (which I thought was ftp), but it I have not run into the issue with file names using this method.
4. Application updates: A means to download and install updating programs directly in Unleash(i.e. XBMC, DVD2XBOX,etc.....).
5. Preview Audio: A way to disable/enable preview audio in the Unleash settings....rather than editing the skin.xml directly for each skin.

Your awsome this was exaactly my same issue. I went through and jsut reinstalled from a buddies xbox and it works like a champ. I am still having the same issue with the RSS feed though with the width problem. My RSS feed only shows the top third or so off the feed when it scrolls across the screen.

The cables work in 480i on the EDTV.
But if the MS dash is told to do any Progressive modes it will send the TV into a fit. The screen splits, you get giant black bar down the center, the picture will go crazy left and right sometimes. Obviously the owners manual is correct, this TV does not do progressive scan. I get the idea.
But the MS dash can be told NOT to do prorgressive modes and you can still get away with using the high quality component cables on EDTV. OK.
Now I introduce a 21 inch Trinitron CRT monitor into the mix. The monitor does all HD modes. So I softmod the xbox and use SID 4.5 N-knave Edition and use the High Definition Patches to get the xbox to play nice with the PC monitor that does HD, but now my TV is being forced into progressive scan. When all my .xml's and settings, and MS dash all have HD modes set to NO progressive scan. Yet the xbox still is stuck in HD. I can't get it out of 480p progressive mode unless I go down to Svideo cables on the TV. Which makes sense I know, but why did it work fine with component before? But now this new softmod setup and new unleashX that comes with it is acting up and has someone made my TV forget what it used to be capable of.
There is a specific file that is deleted when I try to use the SID 4's High Definition Patches Uninstall feature. It is sid4-hd.bin
I've tried totally removing this file from the HD and anywhere I found it, but this did nothing. Any other ideas would be helpful.

I don't know what that is but did you have to use a button combo in the msdash to turn it into HDTV ? if not then I would say that the Patch that you used has alltered your eprom or maybe your bios to make HDTV work instead of doing it the properway that ms designed. Because to switch to and from HDTV mode all that is needed is a Button pushing combo in the MS Dash not installing any patch.Have you tried disableing the settings in UnleashX ? the last couple of build made it sticky for all applications that you run on your xbox
Otherwise I would suggest you go to the softmod forum and find out exactly what the "patch" changes in order to get the HDTV mode because it sounds more like a SID 4's problem than an unleashX one

installed build 572, running both xbox v1.3 and xbox 1.1
just 1 niggle found:
Unclosed DVD+R discs do not get read by dash or file explorer, in fact this dash just hangs/crashes, no control input when these discs are put in the drive, have to hard reboot and remove disc. These DVD+R discs work perfectly with build 565, and work perfectly in XBMC while build 572 runs, so its not a media or drive issue.
I've since reverted back to build 565, as it is supremely stable with my setup, guess i'll wait until this issue is solved.
I think on pg 2 of thread, some1 else wrote about the file explorer not reading DVD's too, just no response to it.

before this build i was able to FTP a 34 mb file in about a minute or less now its taking me 5 to 6. the IP adress is still the same and all of my computers are working just as fast as they always have, im on a T1 connection

i can't download the update (build 572), i dont know what's wrong, my dashboard is default, i dont have any servers typed in, but it always downloads to 99% then tells me "unable to retrieve data from the server"
maybe its my version of unleashx, i dont know how i can tell which one it is, but its very old :] i just decided to get back into modding, so i used my old installers
any help would be GREATLY appreciated, thanx

I don't know if this will help pin down the problem or not - if I hit the start button to bring up the pop-up menu for an item, its vid behaves normally, playing all the way thru while the pop-up menu is active

you need to download it on your pc from the usual place then ftp it over to the box.. i had to do the same thing works great now.

If I have the video settings on 1080i, my menu fonts are super small. That's ok, cuz I can go to settings, and set the font scale up to 1.6. Now I can read the menus, the file explorer, etc.
The problem is the info on the main dash screen (where you have the RSS, your ip, hard drive space, fan speed, and so on..) are too big. It's as if their size is always 1.5 times the font scale setting. If I set the scale to 1.0, all of that is the right size, but all the menu text is super tiny.
The workaround I've been using is to switch video settings to 480p, so all the fonts are the right size at font scale 1.0, but that's like using my computer at 640x480. It's ugly. Is there a setting in an xml file somewhere that I can fix this with? Thanks!

I just installed the new build and find that the G_FreeMB tag to be acting up. There's ~443.5MB free on the G drive, but it displays 44 then a square character, and it'll flash every so often to show 443.5. I'm working around it by using G_Free, that works fine.

1 bug so far. The media player's sound cuts off when its in the forefront and you move the right anolog stick. Too bad because Slick Rick and Outkast is on this jam.

I have noticed that Unleash will run out of Memory if you have a lot of menu icons or video previews. When this happens, the Xbox resets. I have a lot of emulators loaded, and I am recording custom preview vids for each, but I cant even go through the list without a reboot. If we had some form of Virtual memory, this might fix the problem... or perhaps just load a vid into memory only when the corresponding menu item is under the cursor. IMHO UnleashX is the only dashboard worth using, but the best feature of it is making it crash. Thanks in advance to anyone who cares and helps to solve this problem!

When calculating used space on a folder, the results window drops down once, disappears, and drops down again. Just a visual bug though.

when the server name is blank (by default) it finds the update and I begin to download, but at the very end there is an error: unable to retrieve data from the server
what gives? my unleashx is insalled as an app and a dash on the c:/ I've tried both - (this is probably irrelevant)
anyway - help if you can please.

simply yes but you can retain the previous config file if you have have set it up specifically. ie. not required.

There was a time when Qwix could only be used for Avalaunch and it's boost mode.
I'm not sure when Unleashx and Qwix became compatible but as of latest release UnleashX V0.39.0222a Build 572 and when u use Qwix it will connect and transfer games but if you want to "Manage Titles on Xbox Drive"
it gives an error about Avalaunch being out of date.
Not sure if this has been covered but I just wanted to disclose it.

I installed Unleashx as part of SID's auto instaler and have set it up as my main dash with the option to go back to the sid dash incase anything goes wrong - to get to sid i turn it on via the eject button and leave the tray open - i love unleashx and all of the customiseabilitys it has to offer but here is what i have found...
When playing music that the original MSdash has ripped it plays perfectly, when playing any random WMA file it plays perfectly, when playing a WMA from a custom soundtrack location it plays perfectly but when playing an mp3 either from selecting the file in file manager, selecting the file from the music player or playing it from a cdrw/dvd it always cuts off the last 3 seconds and now that i have the latest version of Unleashx it sometimes cuts off the last 4 seconds!!
I have tried this with all the skins i have which isn't alot - that includes the default skin, the default coloured skins it comes with as well as the new Metalic skin that comes with the latest release of Unleashx as well as my own skin, which needed slight moddification after the new release came out as some of the info tags were out of place.
here is the information i have regarding my Xbox ....
Softmod - SID
Dashboard - Unleashx 0.39.0222a Build 572
Kernel - 1.0.5838.1
Version - 1.0 (Acording to the sytem menu on Unleashx)
Hardware Info - Flags: 1616 GPU Rev: 225 MCP Rev: 213
Periphials - Gamepad on Port 1 (Official Pad as Came with the Console)
Modifications - None - Besides Softmod and Dashboard Change
Apps - Xport Emulators (PCSX, XboyAdvanced, FCEUltrax, NeoGenesis, DOSxbox,) SNES9x, MXM (used once as it made Unleash go to colour from black and white after first instal), Phoenix CE (Windows CE proof of concept release, cannot get in right resolution / runs in NTSC but dont have compatable TV), Sureal64xxx, DVD2Xbox, dvd-x2 dongle-free dvd player, XFTP, Xwatch(for setting up clock via SNTP).
I hope that give you all an idea of what could be happening - oh also i heard that the ID tags of a Xbox app have t be Unique to each app well my SNES9x and the Phoenix CE have the same ID 000000 which both point to the same place by the same name in the Tdata.

Hello,
I just got UnleashX from XBINS at around 0400 12/31/06 GMT. Everything worked fine for me including the Update (there was no available update), however the HDD lock option locked my hard drive with an incorrect key. I have posted a new topic regarding this. I'm sorry I didn't put the build in there, however I just didn't expect it to lock it incorrectly.
Either way it's the most recent one on xbins.

Upload works fine obviously, and its easy enough to just not use boost mode, but if not implemented itd be nice if the command returned an error instead of just stopping.
