I totally overlooked that option. There's a feature where you can turn on/off the audio for previews, which should determine if background music should be muted or not. It's just a flag, I'll add that in.

End User error: finally found my problem had a couple of bad zips. unzipped all of my skins and now it works like a charm.Thanks to the author for this great dashboard! unleashx is by far my fravorite dash and i've tried em all.

2 bugs I found today. Both very minor.
1. When renaming xbe's, the music will make a noise like bad reception for a split second. This does not affect renaming.
2. On earlier versions, my xbox was listed as v1.0 (correctly). Now it says v1.1+.

I just uploaded it to the box, cannot do alot of testing right now ( gotta get back to work ), but I have the EXACT same thing happening.
My BOX is 100% a 1.0 - but it displays as a 1.1+

Already had it freeze on me...but I'll test it out without the dongle and see what happens.

It's actually rebooting when you click the tray eject button. this is by design of the xbox, i believe, and not related to UnleashX.
I have troubles with it locking up on boot up periodically, seems to do it 1 out of 10 times or so. Also the thing people mentioned about preview video sounds.. and when I scrolls to a app/games that has a preview video, my music stops and I don't get sound from either the preview video or the background music.. that kinda stinks, but I was thinking it was related to an option that is set in the skin I am using, I just haven't taken the time to look into it. Also, when scrolling through selections in the menu, if I scroll really quickly, sometimes, it locks up and I have to reboot. The choppy preview video problem with WMV's is majorly improved, but it still doesn't play WMV preview videos as good as MXM does, but that's ok.. I'll just have to convert them to XMV and see how they look then. Ok that's all the 'bugs' that I've noticed... now I HUGE round of applause for all the new features, I especially love the new action command and the ability to rename xbe titles.. super awesome... great job... and as always... Thank you for all the hard work...

The problem is still the ChipID$ Any skin that uses that will lock the dashboard when I try to launch an app or game. Also the speed of the left analog stick is way slower than it used to be, I liked the analog stick being real fast and the D-Pad or Left/Right Triggers being medium speed.
Congrats on fixing 99% of the problems that I had with the dash. I have been using this as my only dashboard since the first version.

I'm using the DVD dongle and have no problems. I have it on the fourth port of a v1.2 Xbox with an X2 4977 BIOS.
I really appreciate the fixes in reguard to accessing the memory card in the file manager. Previous versions had me scratching my head as to what I was doing wrong!
The only bug I've seen is that when you eject a DVD playing in the MS dash, the Xbox reboots and UnleashX comes up without a skin loaded. Everything's back to normal after a manual reboot.

mine has just started doing what it used to.I used IGR then my dash froze..rebooting. it just hung there
restarted another 2 times and it is fine again.But it used to do this and go back to the default skin...when it reboots now the skin is fine.
Seems the problem is still there with the crashes with the soundtracks
Still great dash tho m8, well aprreciated.
But if you put this to the top of your todo list would be ace!

I did find a strange bug: When i rename "Dvd-X2 Dongle Free Dvd Player" to just "Dvd-X2 Dvd Player" it turns around and names it "Dvd-X2 Dvd Player Dvd Player" kind of wierd but I have renamed other xbe's and had no problems.
This isn't major by any means but it was one of those wierd things that some people appreciate.

Today I upgraded to a High Def cable, changed my M$ settings, and the display settings on my TV...while UX was running on my xbox. Then I went go to into Games and it locked up. I've since powered off and on quite a few times and have done numerous other things (games, apps) and have had no problems.
Perhaps that was an isolated incident.

If you don't see your Drive G, enable it from the settings and you should see it immediately after you save it. It's disabled by default.
As for the communicator issue, sorry I can't test it yet. I don't have one but I'll try to get one.
As for the freezing on bootup, if you don't see the Xbox logo fade, the dash ain't loaded yet, thus, is out of my hand already. I have experienced this as well, but using UnleashX or Evox seems to not matter, it just happens. Right now, I'm leaning towards BIOS issue but I really can't say for sure.
It would help a lot if you tell me your setup: What BIOS are you using? Are you using it as an app or dashboard? Please provide as much info as you can, and if necessary, post your config.xml (edit it, I just need the settings section).

Regarding the freeze on boot: I installed it on a machine and it froze with the X logo up but dimmed. So UnleashX had loaded... Reboot didn't help. So I booted from DVD, deleted the config file and rebooted. It worked. Then I fired up XBMP (remember I can't get UX:s ftp to work) and ftp:d over the SAME config file again. Rebooted and everything worked fine.... Could be the config became corrupt, could be some other thing, anyhow this worked for me.

on to my real request, I would just LIKE to see a "summary" page at then end of a game copy, like in dvd2xbox saying how many were renamed and patched and all that... makes me feel a little more secure. Till then I'll keep using dvd2xbox for peace of mind.
Just noticed something this second!
when you are xfer'ing in ftp and it goes to auto shut down should the "warning shutting down in x seconds" keep comming up and going away? kind of freaked me out just now

It does launch at the 1st time though, but once I pressed the eject&reset button to get back the Unleashx dash, then put the DVD tray back in, the dash would detect the movie disk, but it won't launch automatically.
I'm using the XBOX DVD kit, X2 4976.02 bios, and have set the oringinal MS dash as my DVD player.

I've tested unleashx with Transfer and had the same bug in this version. I would recommend Fetch, which does work on my test system using Panther/10.3.
Let me know if you are still having problems. I can probably figure it out for you.
---Edited to say: I haven't tried PASV mode in Transfer. You may want to try that. I'm at work for 11 more hours so I can't test right now

and after how many igr's does the skin or dash fail...
im sure its hard to trouble shoot with out knowing what variables could be causing the issues.
id say if your reporting a bug, list:
bios version
xbox version
any kind of hardware you might have ie: large hdd ect...
or any software variables like if you had music running or videos playing at the time...
with more info getting to unleash maybe the few "flaws" this dash has can be resolved.
grade A dash by the way just replaced my mxm with it...thats saying alot!

IGR works flawless with music on/off random/not random on the DEFAULT skin.
Just IGRd like 18 times with music on and not 1 crash.

the music player was causing problems in the last realese too if im correct, for now just to be 100% stable you might just want to run the dash with out music...

Oh I understand that... I just was wondering about the count down box kept dropping and saying 29 seconds over and over... I thought that maybe like the screen saver as long as there was activity the counter didn't start at all. I guess i rather it this way that way if I leave it won't stay on for an hour for no reason.

I've tried deleteing the whole directory and re-uploading all the files. I've got rid of all my skins except the default ofcourse. And I've also deleted the "savegame" file in the msdash.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I really want to use this as my default dash because EvoX is kinda well.....you know. But I can't replace evo until I get this problem straightened out. Any help would be appreciated

I must admit that the old version is not 100% stable either. When stepping into f/apps/ and deeper in the directory structure it gives errors about the file listings but still lists the files correct. Copying one of the files on such a (failed) directory to the Mac gives a 0 byte file... :-(
Hope this helps.
BTW I noticed that the freeze on boot occurs after installing a new drive in the xbox (with a UnleashX DVD). The first boot after the install freezes when the X logo is dimming. Maybe it makes som initialization on the first run through on a new disk? I also noticed that when it has finished installing a new drive you get the message to press shoulder+shoulder+start to reboot. It never does reboot, just freezes. Tried this on several boxes. These aren't serious problems, I can live with them, but the ftp I would love to see working ;-)

The news feeds work perfect for me as does the NFS Underground Logo. When upgrading to a new version of the dash I would suggest to always remove the Items.xml and the game save for UnleashX.
The soundtracks and stuff seem to be stable in this release, except the CHIPID doesn't work in the skins, causes lockups still. Could be just a problem with the new chips, like the X2 v2.3.

I actually would rather you add MP3 support for the background music then the stuff I ripped for games. That way I could store tons more songs on the F: or G: drives and play those instead. Does away with having to play with the ST.DB file.

I turned off my music mainly because it was making my tired of hearing it in the games. The Xbox partition where it stores the custom soundtracks is just too small to store a good amount of music where you don't get tired of it and have to replace after a while. I am already tired of one of 3 of the CDs I have ripped to the Xbox and now have to replace.
That is actually the main reason I suggested MP3 support for the dashboard, much easier to replace those songs and larger drive partitions for storing more.

I'm having the exact same issue.
And I agree, it happens a lot less than the previous version...I had to switch to MXM for a while because it happened about 3 out of 4 boots. But now it's down to about 1 out of 10 boots

the xbe renamer works flawlessly if you are renaming it to something longer than the original title......however, if you name it something smaller than the original the characters that arent written over still apear in the xbe name.
i. e. if you name XBMP's xbe to "XBMP" from the original "Xbox Media Player"....it will appear "XBMP Media Player"

I suspect it wasn't to do with MacOS, since it was with some cli FTP clients I used, including AFAIR the standard OSX and WinXP ftp. I did post a transcript, it was to do with the reporting of the sizes of the different partitions.
I'm not at home right now, but can redo the experiment and post.
The other thing I've noticed is the 'skin-returning-to-default' issue - this seems to happen to me only if I insert a DVD video, play it then use the IGR (or maybe eject, but my BIOS latest X2 with eject-fix, so I can't recall if this resets it).
No biggie, except to get to my skin, I think I had to do a hard reset (power off, then on).

So anyway. I fired it up so I could load a game for them and ran into this.
Using the primary controler I could move Up and Down through the 3 selections but could not select any of them. Pressing the buttons did not do anything. I could do an IRG ( Using X2 4977 on Chameleon )
On the reset UnleashX came back up and still had the problem. Up/Down but no response from the buttons for menu selection.
I then went to check if the second controler was having the same problem. Thinking that maybe the kids broke a controler. It was then that I discovered that the Right Thumb stick on controler 2 was stuck over to the left. When I released it all worked perfectly again. Looks like analog input from another controler can over ride button presses on the primary controler

I am aware of that. That is not the point. What I was trying to convey is that. IF you are controling from port 1 and an analog stick is held in any direction on another controler, while it appears that UnleashX is functioning you are unable to use any of the buttons on controler 1 other than up and down. Generally on the MS Dash any controler works and all buttons function. Even if you are pressing up on controler 2 you can still press A on controler 1 to make a selection. With UnleashX this is not the case. It seemed that although the dash had loaded it was not responding properly. Untill I noticed that controler 2 had a stick stuck to the left. So ultimately it was not a question of being able to control the dash with a second controler, it was a case of INPUT from the second controler was interupting input from the primary controler.
This was intended to be more of an informational post for those that may think the dash had locked up. Just check your other controlers to see if they are stuck.

Anyone have a PocketPC with Ultramote or PDAWin? Or anything that could capture the data? If so, please let me know, it would help a lot.

Hi unleashx.
I am also having the Xbox MS DVD controller problem. I can use the controller fine in all other apps such as Evox and xbmc etc. But the first time I try to press the down button on the controller, it continues to scroll very fast throught all options, stopping at the last. Pressing up has the same effect in reverse, speeds to the top of the menu list.
If I am quick, I can get it to select options, but it's very hard
I am using an original MS Dongle/controller ( this model ). I have tried all ports for the dongle, with and without normal controllers. No change. I use a 1.1 PAL Xbox with Xecuter2.3b+ lite.
I have an IPAQ and I have loaded the PDAWin as you requested. The same symptoms are shown using that device too. If you need to try these codes and you have a recent copy of PDAWin, you can set it in CCF mode and download this ( .ccf file ) for your tests.
Hope this helps you test, the unleashx dash is my first choice but useless to my needs without a remote.
p.s. I did try an eval version of Ultramote but after the laborious task of learning all the buttons I found the settings files to be unclear and I am not sure what to send you!
Keep up the fab work on this dash.

I have the same problem with the Remote Controller on 1 on my two Xboxes.
I ve tested all "combinaison" of dongle / remote / xbox
And now I m sure that the problem is the dongle model.

The server i use is time.sinectis.com.ar (216.244.192.3). this works with avalaunch. I have tried at least one other in the past with no luck. Just now i tryed time.nist.gov (192.43.244.18) and it worked!

I tried the file and the 4 others found in the same site, but they seem to work properly. I guess this is the same code from the old IR. My Pioneer (RCA based) IR is also working fine on Xbox. However, I'll be trying a few things later. I'll be contacting a few people later this week who have problems with the IR and have them test the build.

I would be happy to test any changes that you need to try out on problem boxes. Just let me know if you need me to help. It is very frustrating having it work on all but the app I want it for
I had a thought, I don't have unleashx as my dash atm, just an app being run from Evox, that wouldnt be the prob would it?

The Up, Down & Select buttons are in the SHIFT screen of the "Xbox" device. I had to add another device called "Xbox2" to include all the numbers although you shouldn't require that.
Lastly, while I hope this helps, I tend to agree with DaWaN in that it is looking like the dongle as I have now tried 3 remotes with what I think are the only codes available. Do you think there are different versions of codes?

Yes, you have to add the width=200 or whatever works best into the menu line. I had the same problem on my Mars Landing Skin I did with the music tracks.

I know about the width tag, its just that the background highlight doesn't seem to show the same as the menu width.
look how far Grand Theft Auto Vice City goes past the end of the highlight bar.

I set the option to mute audio for preview vids so that my indash music just keeps playing.
this does not happen, but what DOES happen is when the preview vid pops up, i hear a half second of its audio, then silence, and my indash music stops playing until i move/deselect that game.
