i recently burnt avalucnh latest files on boxplorer cd.installed em onto xbox hd renamed default.xbe to xboxdash now my xbox is busted.i get rotating cube then it stops and red light comes on,i cant even boot from my boxplorer cd either.
if anyone could shed some light i would be entirely grateful

trouble is i dont have acces to my box through pc and also my xbox doesnt wanna know any cds!.ive even bought a new xbox and replaced both dvd and hd with new ones and now my xbox wont accept them either

Maybe you just have a damaged Boxplorer CD,
Re-burn a bootable boxplorer CD-RW, & se what happens.

Of course an Xbox wont accept a harddrive from a new xbox, unless its unlocked.

what I mean to say is: the xbox always boots from disks in dvd-drive. Always. If it doesn't it's because of one of the following (your mod-chip works.. right?):
* Crappy medium - fix by reburning on a new disk
* Wrong medium - if you haven't got a Samsung (and not always if you do have one) you cannot read cd-r disks.
* Errorus Image - fix by creating a new image
* Damaged DVD-drive - fix by replacing unit (no. don't fcuking replace the HDD. doesn't matter and prolly won't work)
* IDE-cable not connected - fix... well d'uh
that oughta do it...
oh btw: is there a file called default.xbe on your 'bootdisk'?

Have you used a different brand of media?
- I got lucky once with one brand, but it never worked after the first time. So, I switch brands.
- Unless you have a Samsung, you should be using CD-RWs.
Did your bios have the DVD-ROM check on/off?
- I haven't used this feature, so I'm not sure if this would affect booting from CD/DVD.
Have you dummied your burn?
- This helps with reading small burns.
Are you using xISO or something similar to create isos before burning?
- If not, try it.

nope my xbox is def screwed i tryed the dvd rom drive in my new xbox and theres nothing wrong with the drive.tryed reburning iso with several prog and also tryed loading diff games etc and it just hangs at xbox logo screen with executer txt at bottom.If i switch xbox on with nothing in drive it loads cube intro then sticks at a blue screen and the red led comes on.I just find it strange only ive been able to still read cds/dvds in past when things have gone pear shaped.

Go to walmart Buy a new one...
Put the fucked xbox in the walmart box...return it to walmart tell the old woman working the counter it doesnt work and she needs to contact ms...u want another one...ms will love it when they get it back, plus, you got a good box now!
