Title: Xbox Freezes At Xbox Startup Logo Then Screen Fade

my xbox was working fine but now it freezes before unleashx dash on the x log screen and then the screen fades a bit.

if i switch the chip to diabled it boots fine to ms dash.


i'm not able to ftp to it in the frozen state

what shall i do???

i've got loads og stuff on the hard drive please tell me i wont lose it  :uhh:

please help :(

Your config.xml file is corrupted.  Create a boot disk (any dash you prefer, I like avalaunch myself) and set up the ini file so that you can ftp into your box.  Simply swap out the config.xml file for the one that you have backed up  and you will be good to go.  This happened to me several times when I was editing my config.xml file ... best of luck.

 The 1st step I would try is use the original Xbox dashboard and go to memory, delete the UnleashX save files that are there.  Then try booting.  Maybe the cache and save stuff got currupted.  If that doesn't worth then check using a boot disc to see if your config.xml got messed up.  Also if you replace the config.xml delete the items.xml file too.

ok i deleted the unleashx save files in the ms dash and rebooted.

this time it went past the startup screen but freezes with a black screen.

Still can't ftp etc.

another reboot and it gets stuck on the startup screen again.

go back into ms dash and a new unleashx save file is there, if i delete it i can get past the startup screen to the frozen black screen.


will now to do the boot disc option

can the config file become corrupted on its own?

also should i replace the whole of unleashx or just the config file?

I am having this exact same problem, have you been able to figure out what was wrong, if you have, could you let me know what you did so maybe I can try it on my box as well

I had the exact same problem and it was caused by by my Items.xml. I edited it and mistakenly added the wrong thing. I fixed it by using my boot disk and reinstalling Unleash.
