Title: Incomplete Rar Files...
Post by: msn25 on May 11, 2003, 12:55:00 PM
Fellas....

Is it possible to extract contents of incomplete rar files...?

For instance...

Say Ive downloaded one rar file which contains multiple rar files inside.  If I have just half of the one rar file...but the rar files contained inside are full, I can extract those files.  But can I extract the contents inside those files up until where its incomplete? I think ive tried everything, but i dont know...i hoping someone out there can help me....THANKS!

if the file is REALLY incomplete, its not possible to extract something that isnt there. if you've tried everything, im guessing the file is incomplete or corrupt

so, did you physically extract the inside rar's into a folder, independant of the origional rar?

an example i will use is a vcd i downloaded [legal, of course. :P ]

i first noticed it didnt come with a cue file. odd, i thought.

tried to extract, got "file is balh valh" on rar 14.

replaced [thanks phyte!] and tried again.

same on 20.

then it worked, and had a cue.

dunno what the point of the story is, but i liked it anyways.

I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THAT IS ABOUT...ANYWAYS...DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO EXTRACT CONTENTS OF RAR FILES THAT ARE INCOMPLETE....MEANING...IF THERE IS A SET OF 50 RARS AND I HAVE 1-30...CAN I EXTRACT THE CONTENTS OF JUST THOSE 30 RARS I HAVE????

1.) Select RAR file, right click & select "extract files".
2.) Under "Miscellaneous" select "keep broken files"
3.) Click "OK" and extraction will begin.
4.) "Next volume is required" box will pop up (once it reaches last available volume).
5.) Select "Cancel" (to break extraction).
6.) WinRAR Diagnostic message will pop up stating "CRC failed".
7.) Click "close"
8.) Check the folder you extracted to for the files.

Yup, PAR files are a godsend.
Nice quote from the "LoveLine" radio show. That call was hilarious.
