No offense, but I can't believe someone sullied this post by inserting the word "phillips" into a thread with Sony and Pioneer present . What's next..someone gonna let "RCA" in |

Projection.... Maybe this is just me, but I would rather have a 42" plasma than that TV. But you know, I haven't seen picture quality or anything, it may surprise me. |

I've been looking for a TV for a while now and Sony was at the top of my list. They make great sets too... I was sooo close to getting a 57" Sony last weekend for around $2250 on sale. All my tube TVs are Sony. |

QUOTE (Xfreak @ May 8 2003, 01:20 PM) Wow,that TV is sick!!! HDTV televisions are beautiful, especially the very large ones . I'm still using a projector which has a bigger screen of course, but not that quality . ????? What kind of projector are YOU running? Trust me when I tell ya, a properly setup crt projector will SMOKE that set. My projector is running on a 52x92 inch screen. Depending on the calibration and scaler quality my setup is VIRTUALLY identical to film. MUCH better then most cinema's. No exaggeration. g |

That's a nice little unit. Have you done any internal calibration on it? Did you calibrate grey scale? g |

Sorry mate,I don't know anything about modifying projectors . I bought the projector, and only used it like it was (no modifications made) . Can you tell me a little more about internal calibration and calibrating the grey scale? Thanks in advance! |

Where you located?? I know quite a few excellent ISF certified guys that can make that TV sing! Just from the looks of the pic, besides the obvious conv being off, it looks like you have the Shapness setting WAY too high. I can see edge enhancement all over the place. Is that a DVD or a Divx file? Another thing you might want to consider. Getting a good scaler. I don't know how much you watch DVD though. There is a company that makes Progressive DVD players out of Germany. They will actually output in MANY different resoloutions from 480p, 720p and 1080i. I have a Sony modded by this company (Cinematrix) and you would be SHOCKED who good dvd can look upscaled to 720p!!! I have compared to the best scaler (Faroudja) and thought the Cinematrix looked "almost" as good. Quite an awesome feat considering the Faroudja goes for about $20k and the Cinematrix DVD player is about $1500.00 g |
