Title: The Orbs-half-life 2 Theme-completed - Download Here
Post by: dhrandy1 on August 24, 2006, 07:46:00 AM: I haven't seen anyone else attempt a skin for this. So I may be the first. Anyways, here it goes. Some of you may have seen my half-life 2 theme for the mc360. Here it is for the orbs. Just put it in the media folder that's located under skins and the orbs. I also took out all the shutter gifs code because I couldn't figure out how to get them colored to work right. You may want to do the same. Please leave your comments and tell me what you think. Just put it in the media folder that's located under skins and the orbs.]?.....so in the skins folder i got mc360 and project mayhem III...so i already got the hl2.xpr theme in the mc360 media folder...if i add the orbs one it won't go cause the theme one is already there...then if i reneame it i can only use one or the other?...so what do i do to get the orbs working with it?....do i just make a folder called orbs in the skin folder and put the orbs hl2.xpr in there.....help would be much appreciated (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

If you go to the skin compatablity list on the XBMC forums here http://www.xboxmediacenter.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19374
and click the first link for The-Orbs the file date is The Orbs_V2.0_01-05-06.zip thats 3 days newer.

Your'e right Kotix it will work with the latest cvs as long as you don't enable login and profiles or masterlock
Right now The Orbs is missing the following xmls that make it compatible with those options
ProfileSettings.xml
LockSettings.xml
LoginScreen.xml

Notice the animation in the top orb for the Player controls (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) and the yellow volume bar in the bottom orb.

cr1ms0n to make a skin for xbmc you need to start from the uncompressed textures of the default one (PM3), change them as you like with photoshop and adjust the xml files to your need using notepad.
The Background video that you see in my skin is just a partcular control that xbmc has, called "multiimage", it consist of a folder containing the frames of the video in jpeg.
Better anyway if you go look on the online manual at www.xboxmediacenter.com there are all the infos you need.

- I already added the missing "Profiles Settings" screen
- changed a lot of textures and text colors
- added editable Bookmarks buttons in MyPrograms, MyVideos etc.. but still havent finished them all

I'll post some shots tomorrow.

Post by: kotix on February 02, 2007, 07:28:00 AM: Sorry guys, but so many things as happened in my real life, i moved in my new house and i got robbed just 3 days after; they stole my brand new 37'' philips lcd tv and broke some doors and stuff...
I wanted to start makind an hd version of the skin but now is too late (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) I will not buy another hdtv till september/october.
But that is not the only reason, I have not a good internet connection since last october, i started uploading the xml part of the skin on svn but to upload the gfx was too heavy for my poor cell phone.
Now there is a new ISP in my area that provide a kind of wi-max and i ordered a good 3Mb/512Kb wireless connection, I should receive their antenna next week.
So in a couple of week I'll upload xml and gfx on svn but I'll need help to update it to latest xbmc skin changes.

I feel very sorry about all this delay but I hope you can understand my feeling in this period...

I'll be getting a 37" hdtv within the next 2 weeks. I'm sure there are people on here willing to help update the skin.

I thought i read here somewhere that this wasn't going to be an addon/theme, but rather a whole new skin of it's own. Is it REPLACING the classic Orb we know, or will you be releasing one updated version with all updates, and another with the ckassic graphics pak? If not, it's cool. H2 Orb still looks like a great replacement anyways.
