Dash Launch v0.01Posted by XanTium | March 1 13:41 EST | News Category: Xbox360 |
|
Team XeDev released this first version of Dash Launch, which will allow you to boot your Xbox360 directly into homebrew software:
what it does: waits for bootanim to finish, then launches a con (you don't see NXE dash) currently launch.xex is built to launch xexmenu con at Hdd:\\Content\\0000000000000000\\C0DE9999\\00080000\\C0DE99990F586558
install: -put launch.xex in the root of your hard drive's content partition -add the included patches to freeboot/xbr patchset (there is a bonus in there for those who don't have it)
xex source is included, in it's current form it does the minimal amount of work to launch the con if it's not present it should fail to dash with "could not load" error message

Sorry to be a pain belenos, but I've got a Jasper 512, was hoping you could give me a step-by-step so I don't eff this up.
Feel free to shoot me a PM.
Thanks :]

How do I do this?

Some Clarity? I don't mean to sound ignorant but the readme isn't very clear.

Thanks to the dev team for this!!!! Keep it coming!

how can i use updpatch_bignand.bin?
I have XBR_JasperBB_8955_3.bin on my 360.
-
download pre-made pack. PM me for it.
then just rename the appropriate patch to updpatch.bin and place at root of hdd or usb.
also place appropriate Launch.xex at root of HDD
launch Flash360
Press B (write update areas of Rebooter)
Press B (Write updpatch.bin)
once completed press back button twice and xbox will shut off. turn back on and your loader will boot instead of Dashboard.

I'd also like to know this
-
use build_patch.bat + patches.S to create patches.bin
(the patches.S provided in "dash launch 0.01 + xbr_RF patch" of course, NOT the dummy one)
nandpro XBR.bin: -R16 basepatch.bin 65 1
use hexedit to open basepatch.bin, look for
"FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF 7A 7A 7A 7A 7A 7A 7A 7A 7A 7A 7A 7A 7A 7A 7A 7A"
and delete it.
open patches.bin copy all content and insert to the end of basepatch.bin
save as updpatch.bin
nandpro usb/lpt: +W16 updpatch.bin 65 1
powercyle / boot.
Or just ask me for the prepatched files and use flash 360 much easier.

Regionfree
-
used flash360 to flash the updated xbreboot patch (extra=regionfree)
then placed launch.xex on my hdd and 360 stalls after the bootanim.
This is on a jasper with 512mb nand, so i used updpatch_bignand.bin file.
Xexmenu is installed as a con in the proper folder on the hdd and it launches perfect from nxe dash.
-
Been using the freestyle boot disc, but this is much more convenient! Plus regionfree, ah its a good day

Do the "updpatch_autolaunch_0_01_and_regionfree_xex.rar" files on xbins not work?

don't know. where are they at on Xbins they probably do work.

Belenos your package works perfectly (this sounds weird when spoken outloud but anyway) thanks. This should also be put onto the front page so people with freestyle dash can see it.
-
@belenos
could you please PM me the package with freestyle dash?
i've been dying for something like this but don't have the know-how to patch it myself.
thanks!
-
@belenos
Hook me up to?
-
me too plz belenos
thx
-
I assume you will be able to exit back to the NXE dash, correct.
Would be nice to be able to easily choose what dash to launch during startup.
-
@ belenos if you could hook me up i would appreciate it ...i really don't know how to do all of this but if you could get me started in the right direction i wouldbe forever in your debt man
-
Working yeah!
Belenos thanks a lot!!!
-
Nice send me it too. I would definitely prefer Freestyledash instead of xexmenu.
Or any 1 who has it already send it to me PLEASE
-
This is a great development but I don't really have a need to boot into any other dash than the standard nxe at the moment.
I do however like the idea of the region free patch. Anyone know how to just implement the RF feature?
-
To all those who boot directly into freestyle dash but have been using the auto boot + disk method before, you you should still keep the freestyle disk in the drive because you will still want to be able to go directly back to freestyle dash board by using the guide button and then play game on disk (otherwise you'll have to go back to nxe and then relaunch freestyle).

sure, edit out the patches that you don't want from the included file. they are very clearly commented.

Tried the XeXmenu one. Didn't work, box just hangs after the boot animation. Someone please help.
-
I allways appreciate any new jtag software but i am soooo scared to use this...reason being i have seen waay too many 360's fail after that initial boot out of nowhere and i would hate to ruin my jtag...oddly my one friend whose xbox 1 i modded allways makes fun of me cause i dont use xselect on mine just standard unleash x...so I have a history of timidness I suppose. The region free stuff is very cool though...if that would save me a step instead of patching an out of region game with gamehacker every time now that is great....also i heard battlefield 2 gives people playing out of region probs with gamehacker...hopefully tis not a new trend of security...

There may have been a reason he sent it via PM rather than posting it for everyone to see, I think it may be because this thread is a tool Team XeDev wrote to boot into their menu and we are all wanting to use it to boot to a different one, kind of a kick in the teeth.
Just my thought really

how the hell do you compile the xex its using VS2008 i have 2005 installed and 2008 but it says i don't have the configurations to load the project so it files to load.
heeeelllllppppp me please i want to do a custom path inconjunction with quickboot xexs so then its truly a custom boot without 5 versions of xexs.

You should just be able to start a new 360 project in vs 2005 then copy the code provided in the source in to it and compile it.
I'll release a more flexible launch.xex later this afternoon (QuickBoot type configurable).

I've replied to PM's. only asked for Pm because of direct link rule figured it would be better by pm. That is my link tho so those files are good.

Its somewhere in the sky now also
Thanks Team XeDev for the original release
and Belenos for the modified Launch.xex awesome job.
No offense to Team XeDev but Freestyle Dash is nicer then Xexmenu.
With preview videos, nice custom skins like Gryz, Aquatica, and Blue steel.
And the FSDindexer. Freestyle seems to be on Top.
But im sure the next Xexmenu may have some great updates.

Is there a way to modify the NXE to make it region free?

What are the requirements to get this to work. I don't have a jTagged system.

Hey guys, I can't get passed 360 Boot Animation. No matter what file I use (compiled in xbins or build one with dash launch).
It just stays there and does nothing.
I can't download stuff from Megaupload... can some PM me or host "belenos" compiled files elsewhere for me please?
Thanks.

What it does:
Waits for bootanim to finish, then launches either XexMenu or Freestyle Dash and makes Console Region free
install:
1.) Rename appropriate XBRpatch to updpatch.bin:
For 16 Mb nand rename updpatch_16MB.bin
For Big Blocks (256 and 512 Jasper) rename updpatch_Big_Block.bin
For region Free Patch Only (only tested on16MB) rename updpatch_RF_only 16mb.
2.) Place Updpatch.bin at root of USB or Xbox HDD
3.) Place the appropriate Launch.XEX at root of Xbox HDD (not needed for region free only)
XEXmenu Lauch expects Hdd:\\Content\\0000000000000000\\C0DE9999\\00080000\\C0DE99990F586558
Freestyle Launch expects HDD:\\Freestyle\FreestyleDash.xex
USB Launch expects UsbX:\\Content\\0000000000000000\\C0DE9999\\00080000\\C0DE99990F586558
or UsbX:\\Freestyle\\FreestyleDash.xex it will launch first found.
try usb port 0 first, because its first to be recognized by the system on startup.
(usb0 = the one on the back)
4.) Launch Flash360 (thanks Redline99)
Press B (write update areas of Rebooter)
Press B (Write updpatch.bin)
Once completed press back button twice and xbox will shut off. turn back on and your loader will boot instead of Dashboard.
Orignally brought to you by XeDev
[cOz]
xex source is included, in it's current form it does the minimal amount of work to launch the con
if it's not present it should fail to dash with "could not load" error message
Still unsure of if I can just post a link. let me know if you want through PM for now. Or if someone else doesn't care about MODS anger you can post the link.
Posting to MU, RS, MS

Great work belenos!
Would appreciate it if you could PM me the link for your new pack, thanks.

belenos, you are the f'n man. 'nuff said.

i have made a simple batch file (based on an xbh thread ive been reading) that auto-patches (using xextool) the 1888 dash to be run from the HDD (or usb)
i have not tried this on disk
I think a lot of people would be interested in booting into the blades dash (while keeping the 8955 pull-up screen via the 360 button) using dash launch.
Belenos, PM me if you are interested in patching the patch (lol) to do this....
-
WOW great job Belenos. Especially with the just region free patch. Will work great for my other Xbox full of GOD

Do a google for crosstools (crosstool-0.43), when you find that grab the pack, unzip and run the shell script for ppc 970 - the assembler and objdump are all your really need but the binaries are valid enough for patches and the like (as well as libxenon/xell/etc.) The makefile from freeboot 0.02 should be usable, you'll have to monkey with the base names for unknown- in it and such though as crosstool doesn't build xenon- bases by default. Haven't looked into it personally but it's probably possible to assemble patches with MAC-PPC or CELL/PS3 -as binaries as well.

New pack contains same USB launcher as previous. could you explain any problems you are having:
What does it do?
what board?
have you check the paths/files names?
any addition info you think would be relevant.

"Dirty" Workaround would be to use the freestyle launcher and just rename the 1888 dash to freestyledash.xex and place in hdd:\\freestyle\

Awesome stuff, now booting straight into Freestyle, thanks xeDev and belenos

i really want to start using freestyle dash now it can be booted before the nxe dash, but i have a question and i hope someone could help. can freestyle dash list the 360 games that are on the 360 hdd (not external) as i have tried a few times but cannot get the dash to list anything. would i need to edit the config.xml file. if so i have no chance of doing that as i'm rubbish at that sort of thing. sorry if this was a bit off topic but i was not sure where to post this question.times are geting very exciting for the 360 now that we can start to boot up csutom dashboards..........................sudeki300
-
are they GOD packages or extracted Iso's?
if extracted Iso's they just need to be in Partition 3/Games and they will be detected.
If GOD package there is a modified Freestyle that will detect GOD packages only problem is it last I saw it places them in the Arcade tab regardless of if they are arcades or full version may be fixed by now tho.
-
Yes it will list games, but not GOD games, unless you download matties modified XEX.
To launch games from freestyle insert game on hdd:\GAMES\(Game).
Root of partition 3.
-
they are all GOD packages and they are sitting in the content/000000000 folder..............sudeki300
-
Id suggest using GOD2ISO and then extracting all the contents of them with xbox image browser. Then put in GAMES folder.
-
that would work but require a bit of work or just get the modified freestyle but like i said then your games appear in arcades tab. so its 6 in one hand half a dozen in the other.
-
Any chance someone could make this so that when you exit back to dashboard from a game, it looks for launch.xex instead of nxe and launches back to launch.xex?
-

sorry you have lost me for a second, you mean make a games folder on the 360 HDD on the root fo partition 3 then put the extracted isos into this folder. then i would not be able to launch the games from the nxe if i did this , would i?...................sudeki300

Why im getting an 71 when i flash updflash?? I just rename updpatch_16MB.bin to updpatch.bin and flash with Flash360 or xell, and when the console boots the animation is interrupted by a nice error 71. Ive reflashed the xbr twice because console didnt wanted to boot. Help please.
-
here ill write a mini tut, using halo 3 as an example.
Step one, obtain god2iso, and extrac the god to an iso file.
Step two, obtain xbox image browser, and extract the iso contents into a folder. (example, I have a halo 3 iso and I extract the data with xbox image browser into a folder called Halo 3).
Step three, make a folder on your hard drive or usb drive called GAMES (if using Freestyle dashboard).
Step four, place "Halo 3" folder in there.
-
can anyone tell me where i can find this modified freestyle dash that lists the GOD files.thanks for asll the replies to my questions..............sudeki300

find my tutorial in the XeXDK development section, It shows you exactly how to replace it, etc.

quick question: if I want to use freestyle dash with loading games from USB, would I have to install the usb loader version, or would i be able to install freestyle on my hard drive and load games from USB?
also thanks a lot belenos and everyone involved with making the initial version, was waiting for something like this!
-
Seriously how do you put the files onto the root directory??
I am using FlashFXP with/without passive mode, logged in with flash/flash and still nothing! ahhhhhh
-
no you can install to hdd freestyle scans each storage device for games. altho keep in mind this is just a launcher you need to get freestyle from its thread and have it up and working before installing this.
Choochoo. are you using xexmenu or freestyle for ftp?
if freestyle have you set it up for the proper ip?
also try filezilla thats what I use.

I just verified that this is true. It works fine with total commander but not filezilla. Freestyle Dash's ftp is working with either program though.

I use filezilla all the time. with the 360 and xexmenu.
you just have to go into the options and set it to active mode.
works fine

This does work but I just find total commander better because you can set it to use passive mode and it will still work with xexmenu
-
Yeah, I totally patched mine all wrong. It's late though, so I'll pull out the old POS laptop and lpt flash it tomorrow. In the mean time, could I have that package? And I looked all around for this "build_patch" batch file and can't find anything of the such. Is it from the source code of XBR or something? Anyway, I don't want just region free, I would like it to autoboot into Xexmenu. I say that because I see some of you trying to patch just for that alone and I'm not sure if there's more than one patch now, or what. Thanks.
-
Just tried this myself on my Falcon box, couldn't get Freestyle quick launch, or XeXMenu 1.1 Quick Launch (works from NXE) or XeXMenu live to be booted through launch.xex (with patches applied to nand of course.) With those files removed from hdd via Xplorer360, the console boots to NXE without any errors
When the files are in the correct locations, I'm faced with a black screen and no errors after the bootanim.
-
My Freestyle is in that exact location. I put the launch.xex in the root of the content partition as suggested..
-
Thanks for trying to help, but by saying the 'root of the content partition', I meant I put launch.xex in the root of Partition 3 before.
-
regarding the hanging/freezing, just unplug the power and plug it back in and start the xbox
or boot into xell (eject button), power off and power on.
Only my jasper 256mb have this problem. My xenon boot up just fine.
-
i tried booting into xell first, then reboot and it hangs at a black screen.
when i dont boot xell first it hangs at the bootanim screen.
looks like it just doenst work on jasper 512mb consoles

i flashed "updpatch_16MB.bin" with flash360, restarted, transfered launch.xex to the main dir of partition 3 w/xexmenu, rebooted and it locks after the boot animation, i tried booting xell/unplugging the power for awhile and got the same thing, it works fine without the hdd connected.
anything else to try?

I need this region free patch because my box freez
-
can someone pm me the link for the region free patch please, thanks

I don't need the patch because I flashed back my full nand and everything is good now!
-
Place the appropriate Launch.XEX at root of Xbox HDD (not needed for region free only)
XEXmenu Lauch expects Hdd:\\Content\\0000000000000000\\C0DE9999\\00080000\\C0DE99990F586558
Freestyle Launch expects HDD:\\Freestyle\FreestyleDash.xex
U have to put them in right place for which ever launch.xex u put on HDD:\\launch.xex

It appears the reason the Usb launcher doesn't work is the autolaunch function is done before the usb drives are ever initialized. The Usb launcher was removed in the latest Pack V4 and may never be usable. those of you with problems could you tell me which launcher you are trying?

Thanks for the info belenos, i was waiting for a new usb launch.xex. i used the one you sent me and it just froze on boot anim. had to boot linux and reflash xbr, so ill just throw freestyle on the hdd. Thanks for the hard work belenos and xedev! another great release!

Any idea about why alot of people are having XeXmenu freeze? I also am having this problem.
-
QUOTE(belenos @ Mar 2 2010, 09:20 AM)
you are trying to run Xexmenu from HDD correct? and you have double checked the location and name?
If so could you do a test for me?
Use the freestyle launcher but get the xexmenu XEX version and place it to hdd:\freestyle\ and rename the xexmenu xex to freestyledash.xex and see if xexmenu boots. this will show the xexmenu launcher as the problem.
Haha i was just doing that. Ill let you know.

can someone provide me with a link to the latest pack?

Does this only patch block 65?
I ask as my BB NAND had some bad blocks that were a bitch to remap, so I need to make sure I'm not patching any of those in case it screws it up again.
-
yes only 65
-
Cool, that's a relief as I checked and one of my bad blocks was 68!
-
the modified launch.xex that boots freestyledash works fine, but the original that loads xexmenu does not
-
yes and I find the kinda funny considering this was originally designed to work for xexmenu. a work around if you really want to use xexmenu is to create hdd1:\\freestyle\ and insert the xex version of xexmenu and rename it to freestyledash.xex it will boot xexmenu then. It has been confirmed the xexmenu launch has something wrong with it. you can do this until a new launcher is released.

hi
nobody knows the nandpro command to patch a nandbackup with the updpatch.bin on computer ?
its something like
nandpro xbr.bin: +w16 updpatch_16MB.bin 65 1
but im not sure if capital W or w, and not sure if + or -
with cygnos chip u can only flash the whole nand so u need to prepare it on computer with nandpro...
or does anyone have a link with a good description what the fuck spare means and when i have to use it or not ???
nandpro readme doesnt help me
maybe i just dont understand it cause im no native english speaker i dunno...
and where to get that freestyle dash CD that allows to go back to freestyle dash during gameplay ?
nice greetings to everybody
-
nandpro usb/lpt: +W16 updpatch.bin 65 1
iso comes with freestyle
-
QUOTE(schubi @ Mar 2 2010, 04:11 PM)

nice greetings to everybody
this just an extracted quickboot container or look in the includes folder edit the config.ini point it to your dash burn that and the default.xex to a disc normal burn no need for xiso done.
-
Is it possible to delete the launch.xex from xbox hdd using some linux live cd?

QUOTE(belenos @ Mar 2 2010, 05:25 PM)
nandpro usb/lpt: +W16 updpatch.bin 65 1

yea i know this command
but i have a cygnos chip
with a cygnos chip u have to flash the nand COMPLETLY and WITH CYGNOS TOOLBOX
not with nandpro
so u have to PREPARE the FULL IMG to flash with nandpro:
nandpro XBR.bin: +W16 updpatch.bin 65 1 (nothing like usb or / lpt )
^^
what i dont know is if the command is still "+W" if i dont flash the nand directly (through usb/lpt)
but just edit the nand image on computer with nandpro virtual nand handling, i would guess its the same command but i dunno... the nandpro readme confuses me pretty much
in other words i have no idea what this whole SPARE shit means at all... and i dont find any good explanation with google
or are there any cygnos v2 users, that dont flash the nand with the cygnos toolbox but with the usual non cygnos jtag methods like flash360 or nandpro ? anyway it would be interesting if the nandpro cmd is the same or not
i know stupid questions i suck ...
-
Hey belenos, PM me a link. I dunno If you got my PM or not.
-
Just installed the RF patch on my Falcon. Worked like a charm! Tested with Dodonpachi Dai Ou Jou Black Label Extra JPN. Thanks belenos!
-
USB version of Freestyle works for me.
It's on the HDD with the thumbdrive plugged into the back.
Auto boots into freestyle, with all the content/graphics/etc loaded, and games run fine.
-
What about using the xex that is on the Freestyle boot cd? That has a easy to use config file where you can choose what to load (from anywhere).
-
@shabang22: right you have freestyle actually on the hdd and the fsdata installed to usb correct? that does work fine the problem was when all freestyle data was on the usb drive. the usb drive was not yet initialized when launch.xex called for it. This issue should be fixed in the next release hopefully.
@Jbonze: can't use that exact xex because of certain code needed, like the pause to enable xexmenu to work, but something similar is in the works.
-
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE can someone send me the BB region free patch or link to latest download i have v3 on jasper 16 but just need BB for my other box

Edit - I have everything on the USB except for the launch.xex, which is booting off the HDD.

wow how did you get so luck. no one I know of has had that usb launcher work properly. a new one is in development tho.
-
No clue honestly, I fiddled with the damn thing for at least an hour before I got it working...
-
well the creator has said that the launch.xex is being executed before the usb drive would be initialized and that was the problem and will be fixed in next release. so not sure how yours is working but glad it is.
-
Anyone found a way to delete the crashing launch.xex from the root of the xbox hdd? Without the hdd box is working.
-
just boot without the hdd and use xexmenu iso to load flash360 and then just flash the region free only patch. then boot with hdd attached and delete launch.xex
-
Where to find only the region free patch? Usual places contains only updpatch_autolaunch_0_01_and_regionfree_xex.

Ive been doing some updates to my Blog. Also has any one else taken a look at the source for this? I don't have the library but I was wondering if it would be possible to boot to different dashboards as I am holding a controller button when launch.xex is being booted. for example "Hold X to boot Debug Dash" or "Hold Y to boot XEXMenu CON" "Default is Freestyle Dash" ect.

XBR Patch Pack V5
Package Created By Belenos originally created by XeDev
[cOz]
Thanks to PorchMonkey and any involved with XexMenu, Freestyle Dash, Dash Launch
What it does:
Waits for boot animation to finish, then launches a xex or con as defined in ini file and makes
Console Region Free*
* note: Region Free will only work on xex files so xbox 1 game are unaffected as they are
xbe files you will also notice you cant install "out of region" games via the NXE but you can use
iso2god on them and they will work that way.
Install:
1.) Rename appropriate XBRpatch to updpatch.bin:
For 16 Mb nand rename updpatch_16MB.bin
For Big Blocks (256 and 512 Jasper) rename updpatch_Big_Block.bin
For region Free Patch Only 16mb nands rename updpatch_RF_only 16mb.bin
For region Free Patch Only Big Block nands rename updpatch_RF_only Big Block.bin
2.) Place Updpatch.bin at root of USB
3.) Place the appropriate Launch.xex at root of Xbox HDD Launch.ini can be placed in usb root or hdd root.
You can Use 2 different Launch.ini if placing one on Usb root and one at HDD root
Usb Ini will be loaded first if not present Hdd Ini will load. If neither NXE dash
will load as a fallback
XEXmenu Launch expects Hdd:\\Content\0000000000000000\C0DE9999\00080000\C0DE99990F586558
Freestyle Launch expects HDD:\\Freestyle\FreestyleDash.xex
USB launch version of Both Xexmenu and Freestyle Included
Xexmenu expects Usb:\\Xexmenu\Defualt.xex
Freestyle expects USB:\\Freestyle\FreestyleDash.xex
Custom launch version has no path. User must alter custom launch path.ini and insert path.
Then rename to Launch.ini and place at root of HDD or USb
If launching Con or XEX from HDD use launch.ini at root of HDD
If launching Con or XEX From USB use launch.ini at root of USB
DO not cross-reference Launch.ini and Con/XEX
(I.E. DO not use usb launch.ini to call file on HDD or vice versus)
4.) Launch Flash360 (thanks Redline99)
Press B (write update areas of Rebooter)
Press B (Write updpatch.bin)
Once completed press back button twice and xbox will shut off. turn back on and your loader
will boot instead of Dashboard.
Orignally brought to you by XeDev

caveats:
this is presented as-is, any risk is solely the end users responsibility. While all of us are sorry
when unforseen things happen, not every situation or mistake can be accounted for before they have
been spotted.
usb testing was done using a usb flash drive, it's unknown at this point if the delay added to fix
xbr con loading
will be enough to allow hdd's to spin up.

Here is the read me for XBR Patch Pack V5
Waiting for Dash launch Creators approval before releasing the Pack
Let me know if you have questions or if there is confusions with the instructions so I can address the issues before the pack is released.
So is this just adding the USB booting or are we going to have the ability to boot to multiple dashes depending on what button we hold on boot ?
Mainly i would like to go to Freestyle dash on boot but would like the option to boot to nxe from the off to change settings, memory card management etc by maybe holding "Y" during boot anim.
looking at it though seems to be just usb....... oh well
-
well you can set 2 different launch.ini or Say you have freestyle installed to the USB and when USB is plugged in it will boot to that and if not it would still boot to NXE. There is some customization options but no "hold button to boot ..." option.
-
Works like a dream! I love it! I even tested it to launch my SNES Emulator CON on boot from the HDD! I love it! Thanks XDev & belenos
-
I think the read me is summed up well Belenos. Not hard to understand it. Ready for the drop.
-
requesting v5 pack link, thanks dude!
-
Note: Be sure to use back slashes. Forward slashes seem to break the ini forcing it to go to the NXE.
-
belenos does v5 pack use the updated version of the app? or still 0.01?
-
can anyone compile the patches.S of 0.02 and upload it somewhere ?
dont have the compiling environment
thx in advance
and isnt there someone with a cygnos chip and can tell me how to insert the compiled patches.bin in xbr.bin on the computer ?
i cant only flash the patches.bin directly on the nand...
everyone have a nice day
-
BTW if anyone here has Xellous installed you can drop updpatch.bin onto a thumbdrive and flash it with xellous on ALT (Xell) boot. Also, don't forget you can backup your Flash from Xellous too via its built in HTTP server. So if you screw up and can still access xellous you can reflash your backed up dump by renaming it to updflash.bin.
Happy Modding.

QUOTE(omega232 @ Mar 2 2010, 05:55 AM)
Can you PM me a link for the freestyle dash one?
There seems to be SO many new pathces lately I would have thought some1 would have incorporated/pre-pacthed into the XBR images on Xbins as xbr_3c or xbr4 or something.
@omega232 Can you please post ur updated stuff( a .rar on megaupload or similar) I really need a straight-forward way of doing this/ The Auto-patch .bat package from xbins isn't clear on where/how one would incorporate the launcher patch (alltho there's mention of it in the Patches.S) I've tried using the batch patch (that doesn't require cygwin) It wasn't clear where/what directory it wanted nandpro to be in. After it created a directory with two files in it, I used XBR.bin and it still wont run the launcher.xex This is all driving me nuts as I have a falcon with a cygnos V2 running XBR 3a and it wants a pre-patched image. If one can use flash360 why didn't they just give us all an 'update.bin' file?
I don't have time to get in-depth on this one (very busy sorry if I've overlooked something posted elsewhere etc..) so any help here would be hugely appreciated...
-
I can see that soome one has allready replied to my last (thanx btw) but I can't seem to read any of the posts in the last 3 pages of the tree structure thingy (hate the whole tree sructure btw guys prefer the old, granted it can clarify some stuff when a topic get huge but it's not worth the hassle, it's soooo much easier/better with the orignial straight-up style) It would be cool if you could choose which way you wanted to view a topic (only show tree on request) in the control panel somewhere (I've looked for it)
Sorry for my rant off-topic above but I was annoyed I couldn't even edit my last post. Speaking of which, I've remembered that ppl can't post links to XDK compiled code (fair enough) . The patch(es) really should be at least in updflash.bin format .A directory for each or in the XBR_falcon_3a.rar would be nice (not to be ungratefull but if It's not like me to have trouble with stuff like this )
Thanx again all,
-
OK, I have it working now (The delay is a bit annoying, but it' seems a nescessity - bummer) A simple mistake was made as I'm not the only person who uses that PC for flashing stuff (long story won't bore u all)
But, Something that threw me off is that in the readme (and other places) it infers that the launch.xex and the .ini go on in the root of the content directory not the root of the partition, so it was lucky that I was looking at the patches.s looking for a non existent error and seen the actuall path or it would have confounded me for a lot longer.....
It would be cool if we could put other stuff in the .ini file ,like bootanim to xexmenu delay for example.
Good work ppl, I'm sure this will open-up lots of possibilities with scripts to automatically check usb for updates to XBR or Xexmenu, XM360 etc.. etc... That would truly be awesome AND make my life a lot easier...
-
glad you were able to work it out.
-

This is what updpatch_autolaunch_0_01_and_regionfree_xex.rar is this is the patch use Flash360 to install and your done easy peasy then put the launch.xex in partition3 or hdd1 in ftp and edit the ini accordingly.

nandpro XBR.bin: -R16 basepatch.bin 65 1
use hexedit to open basepatch.bin, look for
"FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF 7A 7A 7A 7A 7A 7A 7A 7A 7A 7A 7A 7A 7A 7A 7A 7A"
and delete it.
open patches.bin copy all content and insert to the end of basepatch.bin
save as updpatch.bin
nandpro usb/lpt: +W16 updpatch.bin 65 1
powercyle / boot.

auto lauch doesn't work unless there is an launch.xex in the root if it's not there you can't tell the difference so it doesn't matter what one you use.

The control to change that is in the top right of the thread you are viewing, a little ?java? dropdown called "options"

the readme specifically states "root of the content partition", you look for the partition with "content" on it and put it in the root... what I find confusing is that it is considered an update partition, a system partition, and partition1 by the system softs, but many others seem to think it is partition3 because of the xplorer PC apps... "root of content partition" on the other hand seems much clearer (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

I do the same thing here, but doesn't this defeat the whole purpose of dash launch anyway?
Actually I just realized we don't need in game reset or the disk. Just use the guide button, go to quick launch, and then all the way over the right to games, then you can select freestyle dash games or whatever.
-
here is the links to Patch Pack V5
This uses Dash Launch .02 as base and I have pre compiled the patches for both auto launch and region free. Also pre-setup some launch paths for xexmenu and freestyle. There is also a custom launch that can be edited for what ever con/xex you like.

"FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF 7A 7A 7A 7A 7A 7A 7A 7A 7A 7A 7A 7A 7A 7A 7A 7A"
and delete it.
open patches.bin copy all content and insert to the end of basepatch.bin
save as updpatch.bin

By any chance have you updated xell to xellous? If you have, it has the same patch features as flash360 so you can just put the correct updpatch.bin onto the root of a usb stick and boot into xellous to patch.

You don't need to solder anything. Download xellous from xbins, rename xell-2f.bin to updxell.bin, copy updxell.bin to a usb stick, boot into xell with the usb stick attached and let it update. Once updated deleted updxell.bin from the usb and copy the new updpatch.bin to the usb stick. Boot into xellous (eject button) with the usb stick attached and let it update.
As taken from the xellous guide:USB Notes:
For best results of getting the usb device detected. Remove the power plug from the console
after running the MS dashboard. Then reinsert the power plug, insert usb device and then
boot into XeLLous.

OK so i did that and now it doesnt even boot xell

Are you making sure to start your system with the eject button (and letting the tray open all the way) and were you using XBR3 or XBR1?

If you can still boot XELL, you don't need to install Xellous to recover XBR. If you still have the original XBR, you can download the Gentoo Live CD, boot it up, and follow this tutorial to flash XBR with lflash.c: http://ep-comps.com/...lflash_16mb.rtf

yeah there is no xell booting now after the xellous update i cannot figure out why

This is a shot in the dark but, your dvd drive is connected correct?

no XELL just black screen and green light
To quote Looouky from the xellous thread:

black screen with green usually means your jtag wires are incorrect connected. I told you this already, check your soldering. I have done 4 big blocks jasper using my tut, 2 256 and 2 512.

Possible bug report for Dash Launch. If you currently have a system without the Avatar system update, and your console is set to auto boot any games in the drive (any game with the avatar update included, naturally), when booting the console it will hang when the update window begins to appear. The update window never fully renders correctly because presumably this is the point where DashLaunch tries to load the launch.xex - basically you're left with the outline of the box.
The obvious workaround for this is to disable auto boot, or boot the console without a disc in the drive, but I figured it may be worth reporting in case you're able to add code to ignore the launch.xex if a system update is attempted.
