Title: [beta] Party Buffalo Drive Explorer
Post by: doveman007 on October 01, 2012, 12:11:00 PM
I wish this worked for me but it just locks up when trying to open my drive (250GB Hitachi). Xplorer360 and USBXTAFGUI are able to open it OK but they can't seem to extract the files properly (I can sometimes manage to get it to work on individual files, but if I select a few folders to extract, it just locks up and they're both exceedingly slow).

Hi everyone, sorry to bump this old thread, but I've released an update for Party Buffalo. If you want to read about it, check here: http://clkxu5.com/20...uffalo-2-0-1-0/

The short version: all hard drives should now work properly, "latest news" bullshit was removed, and between 2.0.0.9 I released another update on my blog (not pushed out as an official update) which fixed support for devkit hard drives, which is also included in this version.

This is most likely the last update for Party Buffalo. The blog post explains all of that.

Latest version: http://clkxu5.com/dr...rty Buffalo.exe

[This is a copy/paste from another board, so please excuse me if something doesn't make sense or out of context]

This app is pretty self explanatory -- created by me from ground-up, and has been in development for a while now.  To use, connect your drive (if using a drive), press File>Open>Open Drive Selector>Select your drive.  If you're not using a drive, load your file by going to File>Open>Open Dump.

Features so far...Future updates...One known issue I want to address is when extracting multiple files from a hard disk, it will throw an error about the handle not supporting asynchronous operations, etc.  -- working on that.

Instead of keeping this closed-source, and having licensing and all that junk, I've decided I'll just make it open-source.  I figured it would be too annoying for Cheater912 for me to ask him every time I need to update for him to obfuscate the executable, and then to have to create a licensing system would be annoying as hell.

Quick note if you peek at the source code...
The code in just about every single one of the forms is really messy.  Please excuse that.  Also, if you use the dev build, you're doing so at your own risk...  I wrote a lot of the code in the writing quickly, and have barely tested any of it.  So if you're using a hard drive, or anything else you don't want to get messed up on accident, please use enable beta mode by changing the bool at line 16 of the main form to true.

This is real nice, good that it can read the USB drives, good for uncourrpting profiles and moving between consoles.

I'll look in to that here in a second -- see what the problem is.  Probably a quick fix...  Would either of you feel like letting me on your TeamViewer to check out the problem for myself though?

Is there   a reason that it is trying to connect to the internet? does it check home for updates? I blocked access to the net for it since there is no reason.

Will it be possible " in the future " to add to a memory card or usb drive being used as a memory card. with this program?

I have been trying to add the media update to my usb drive, formated by my xbox 360 so I did not have to swap my internal hard drive between my 2 jtaged xbox 360's to watch movies. 1 xbox 360 is in a bedroom and the other is in the living room.

Finally a program that just works with my 250gb smile.gif

I kept getting an error when trying to extract the compatibility folder.
I could extract each item individually and rebuild the directories manually, but if I selected the main folder and hit extract I got "fuck, error" lol

Also, I backed up my whole drive.  Does anyone know if I can manually delete HD installed games? I don't need them wasting precious space on my PC.  For example, I only have one right now, Halo: Reach

I located it (by the size) in:
\Data\Content\0000000000000000\4D53085B\00004000\D5F8036CA497AFADC59687E1566C10D3.data
The files are Data000 through Data0041
   Do I delete the whole folder? Just those Files? More folders?

Just wondering.  Would rather not have to delete them, backup, then reinstall.

Thanks!

Yeah, that error message is one of the things I forgot to change for the beta...  As for the error you got, I'm guessing before it said that, it gave you a different message?  If so, I'm working on that guy -- more of an annoying bug because it has to do with the Win32 API.

Edit: Oh yeah, and as for the HDD installed games, you can just delete those files.  Games install as Dataxxx

What exactly do you mean?  Writing to the drives?  That's disabled for now since I haven't tested much of my writing stuff, and I'd rather mess up my own drive than someone else's.  So until I'm sure it's 100% stable, it's disabled.

Sorry for the confusion.. I was asking if the program will be able to write to a xbox 360 formated usb drive.. When i use the transfer data on the xbox 360 it will not let me transfer the optional media update to the usb drive..

I tried to make a content folder on my usb drive and just copy the media update to the drive, It did not work. and when I hook up the usb drive to my computer it has a folder named XBOX and the files in that folder are named " DATA001 " and so on. like the files on the partition is a differant format than the internal hard drive.

Iam glad to here that when and if you are able to get the writing to drive 100% you will release it.

Thanks!  As for the imaging, I figured it'd be redundant since the partitions are already in files.

Ah, yeah I should have the writing features fully done and tested in the next week or two.  Sounds a little long, but I've got school and some other reading-related bugs to fix first tongue.gif

Haha, alright, and not your fault. I didn't post anything else in it in page 1, and I forgot to state so as well in the OP.  And nope, I did not use X360 dll's -- coded this entirely myself

Edit: I just pushed out version 1.0.0.4 -- here is the changelog:
QUOTE

Update fixes bug with closing drives
Fixes bug with extracting folders on a hard drive
Might fix bug with some USB drives(I say might, because it's a ghetto fix.  If it messes up on yours, please message me regarding the issue)
Added extracting of Security Sector
Added extracting of Josh sector

But they do the performance check for good reasons. Bypassing it may not be the best idea.

Anyways, nice app, CLK. Fun to have some competition. ;p

Personally, I don't know much about the security sector, so most likely not.  People seem to be satisfied with HDDHackr as well.

Well since you have one working one, you should be able to just copy the Xbox360 folder in the root of the working USB onto one that doesn't work.

Let me know if that works.

I'm hoping CLK Rebellion and Eatonz can help figure out how to make all flash drive compatible. There has to be a specific thing that 360 format is doing because even the clone apps aren't working to make 2 flash drives identical.

Sounds like write-leveling, Might not be a good idea if that's the case. OR It could be the controller/FW in which case you may have other probs. Pls post ur results if u decide to try it as I often get asked about adding SSD's to JTAG's.

CLK: Thanx for the quick update etc.. IT WORKS GREAT!! (Using the 'official' USB adapter- I havent had time to try SATA yet but I will shortly w/a slim drive)

I have always wanted two features out of an XDFS manager:
(1) Ecc/DIR Check (ie; Disck-Check feature) AND/OR
(2) Disc defragmenter

The guy who did 360 drive commander was working on the above but I think maybe his interest now lies elsewhere....?...?...?

EDIT: I was also wondering why I can't delete (In right-click context menu) - I wanted to delete from systemupdate dir (a dash update)

The weird thing is all of my ocz 16gb flash drives appear to have similar speeds in read/write performance but only 1 ocz drive works. My kingston 4gb data traveler is much slower but works with 360 perfectly. Thats why i'm interested in what we can do to fix it through pc route.

Good job clk.

Why thank you sir.

I just coded up a function for getting the STFS name/general info (still have to work on images, as they're not in the same buffer as everything else), but I need to figure out a good way of getting it for folders...  I was thinking I could load up the subfolders/files and grab the game name from one of the files, but that would slow things down a little bit, yet it may be the only solution.  It's already sort of slow getting names for folders with a lot of files (for instance the cache folder), as it checks the header of each file to see if it's a valid STFS package, and if it is it loads all of the info at once and caches it. -- Lied about that.  I just put in a filesize check to make sure it's got the minimum package size before doing anything, and loads the cache folder almost like normal.

IPB Image

Also, I made it so that the app requests to be run as administrator upon startup (would make it so that if people don't run as admin, it doesn't crash on them when going to the drive selector), so expect that in the next update as well.  (This is my little way of procrastinating from doing anything writing-related, although all of it should work already -- just haven't tested any of it except for creating new folders tongue.gif)

When right-click on a folder in either the tree view or file list view and Extracting, I get everything inside the folder but not the folder itself. It would be significantly more convenient to get the topmost (ie right-clicked) folder as well.

What I'm doing right now is copying one of my arcade games. I right-click on 584108C and Extract to the desktop and I'm left with just the folder 000D0000. If it copied the 584108C folder as well I could just drag that into my FTP client and transfer without having to manually create the folder in Content\000...\
This is while browsing a flash drive, in case that makes a difference.

Great program otherwise.

I am pretty sure the device ID is the issue. I will have to verify how it is calculated and maybe I can get it to work.

Confirmed. The Device ID value in the data files is what locks it to the USB itself. Modifying it to match the ID of the new USB will make it work. Unfortunately, it seems to be calculated differently than hard-drives. Once I figure it out, formatting will be a possibility.

Good work and good luck sir.  If all goes as planned, I'll hopefully push out an update that includes writing functionality and the above (STFS stuff) today.

Does the program have a limit on how many folders/files it can display?  For whatever reason it doesn't show all of my folders under my gamertag and even trying to navigate to them manually tells me "Path Not Found"

It shouldn't... But I have a feeling that it's with the flags I set for it to recognize as folders.  If you could, could you open your drive in a hex editor (in HxD it's Extras>Open Disk, and the disk will be under physical drives with the number under the "ID" in my device opener), then go to offset 0x130EB0000.  After that, search for the name of the folder, and any folders you can't see, could you tell me the byte directly before the name of the folder?

My 16GB USB flash drive doesn't show up a device in the DeviceSelector.  My friend's 8GB USB flash drive doesn't show up either.  We are both using 1.0.0.4.  Have we both missed a step?  Do we need to install something other than the .exe?

Thank you.

Nope... my guess is that it could either be used by another program or just something else that's weird.  I'll be sure to look in to this -- thanks!  Just to make sure... you guys ran it as admin, correct?

Edit (don't feel like double-posting):
Here's 1.0.0.5.  Still no writing support for the standalone exe, but you can download the source and compile that with the "IsBeta" bool in the main form set to false (be careful, that form is very messy!)

Changelog:
-Fixed a bug with a reading function that liked to read more bytes than it should
-Made it so that it should request administrator permissions at startup (should fix some people's issues...)
-Added the reading of general STFS info, as you can see from this screenshot: http://imgur.com/neMr6.png
-Added a "properties" window for files
-Other small bug fixes that I can't remember

Thanks for responding!  I tried 1.0.0.5 and again, my USB flash drive doesn't show up in the DeviceSelector.

I can mount the flash drive fine in USB XTAF Xplorer 32 beta3 and the flash drive works fine in my Xbox.

The flash drive is SanDisk Cruzer, appears as H:, device descriptor is USB Mass Storage Device at Port_#0001.Hub_#0008 if that helps at all.

My friend and I found that USB XTAF Xplorer seems to have a bug where you can't transfer a large file (like a 2GB), so we wanted to try out your app.

Cheers.

CODE
Buffer = io.ReadBytes(0x2050);

That's lovely...  I have no idea why I chose a number like like that...
I also messed up on a rounding function, and instead of putting 0x200 I put 200.  Fuuuu...  I'll try to push out 1.0.0.6 later today with writing support. Scratch that, pushing out 1.0.0.6 right now as I remembered I have other things to do, and don't think I'll have enough time to re-write some of the forms to include writing support.  Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

Oh yeah, and @OzQuant 1.0.0.6 has a minor edit to how it detects USB Drives.  I forgot the function that returns a list of logical drives, so I did a char array and had it loop through each, detecting if the drive "IsReady", and if it wasn't then it would throw it away.  Hopefully this works better...

I went through device manager on 2 ocz rally2 drives to see the differences. These are the things the values differed in:

container id
parent
device instant path
base container id
driver key

You can't modify it, it is in the firmware which is not writable by normal means.
Only option is to find it, but I am still unable to find out how it is generated for USBs.

However, through an IO function on the console, there is a way to get the ID. Expect a PM from me soon, we'll try getting one of them to work.

Thanks for your support!  I think that writing should be done tomorrow... I just did an entire re-code of my Extraction form to make it work for both injecting and writing (no need to have two forms when you could just utilize one), made it cleaner, and I'll just have to test it on my hard drive/memory unit to see how that works.

WOW saved my butt big time!  Someone thought it would be funny to delete my profile off my usb stick! This program opened my partitioned usb stick and was able to undelete my gamertag!

I wasn't able to inject the gt back into the usb stick but xtaf gui took care of that but it doesn't have undelete!

Enjoy the donation! I've been working on this undelete for about 6 hours and your program did it in a few minutes.

Sweet, thanks!  I really appreciate it!  You aren't able to inject your gamertag back in because I'm still working on some of my writing functions, but those should be done fairly soon.

Edit:

1.0.0.7 -- includes writing.  I just tested injecting a folder in to my thumb drive, and it showed up perfectly on my Xbox.  All game saves were there, nothing appeared to be corrupt...

Other changes in this build:
•I removed basically everything except the "Extract" function from the treeview's context menu.  Reason for that is I noticed that when you right-click on an object, it doesn't actually select it.  So say you right-click on your profile but beforehand you clicked on the "Content" folder -- it's going to extract the content folder vs. the folder you right-clicked, and there's no way (that I know of?) for me to fix that.  I figured it'd be safer to remove the writing functions from that so you don't accidentally overwrite something you shouldn't...
•Fixed the listview not being cleared after opening the drive selector
•"Get Help Online" in the "Help" menu item actually has something there now
•Entire re-code of the extracting form

I really have to stress this though: if you think the app isn't do anything, but it's responding to input (that is, when you click on it, it doesn't say "(Not responding)") -- it's probably doing something.  When writing to your drive and you need to overwrite something first, it will go through and delete everything within that folder (if you're deleting a folder), therefore causing a little bit of a delay.  And please, if you feel a little bit worried about writing to your device -- make a backup.

Bump & Update -- 1.0.0.8

This one's sort of funny actually, and really goes to show that you shouldn't copy and paste code just because you're lazy.  I've got two functions that are basically the same, just serve different purposes (one's for writing a FAT chain, the other is for clearing a fat chain), and they've got the same names...  within my delete function, it called to the writing function, therefore causing it to re-write what I just deleted.  WEAK.  Besides that, this update adds drag and drop support, fixes a threading issue, and has some better error handling.

You can migrate, but not like that.
Would be better to extract the Content folder and put it on your new HDD. I assume this app creates a complete binary-level backup and putting it on a bigger device will most likely break that larger drive. (Security Sector, in particular)

I try to extract my data partition (or even just the content folder) and it gets through name.txt and cache and then then "Party Buffalo Explorer has stopped working.."

EDIT: Nevermind, I seem to have the extraction of /Content/ working, but it crashes if I try to dump the whole partition at once, I'm going to see if I can narrow it down to a particular folder/file once this finishes.

Copy was never a function, it was just that the treeview is a little weird with the way that the right-clicks work.  When you right-click, it wouldn't select the node you clicked, and the previously selected node would still be selected, which could be problematic.

@Martinchris
CODE
at FATX_Browser.STFS.STFSInfo.CheckBuffer()

I have a feeling that's what's causing it.  Does it do it whenever you go in ANY folder, or just in that one?  If it's happening with all of them, it's most likely where it tries to grab the STFS info for the package/file.  If it's whenever you go in to a folder with files, try running my ye version:

Ok - I managed to drill down just about every other folder on my HDD (including other manually created folders as well as FSD's fsd2data folder) and it's fine. I can access and see files populated with STFS names. It's literally just this one folder which is causing it to bomb.

I'm calling it a bogey though - I copied the folder using another tool and re-injected it using yours (and the other one I used so I could compare the result) and it now opens fine. I've still got the full error log from the problem before, so if you want it, drop me a PM and I'll forward it on. However I'd say if anyone else has this issue, the above steps would resolve it.

Thanks for your help!

That's the most bizarre thing...  I have no idea why that would have happened then to be honest.  If you ever encounter this problem again, feel free to PM me and I'll look at the entry/FAT chain to see if maybe something's weird with the FAT chain where there's no ending block or something -- that's really the only thing I can think of that may cause an infinite loop like that (especially since it's with that one folder).

Edit
Found that bug (actually encountered it myself), "fixed" it by putting a try/catch there (which is a really ghetto fix, and is applied in the latest update).  Thanks for the bug report!

You're welcome - glad to help smile.gif

As of today, I have no idea how many updates I'll be able to push out until I get a new Xbox (my current one just E74'd, video here of right before it happened (lol): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebVuWxEte6I)

So, I'll start working on some other features (currently, everything seems like it's working fine) that will hopefully boost performance of the app and don't require me testing them on my box

Hi.

Fantastic app, I love it so much.

However, now it just won't work... It had some issues with moving lot of files to the xbox harddrive, so I wanted to try a newer machine with more power, so I went from xp sp3 32-bit -> win 7 64-bit.

Anywho, no matter how much I run as admin in win 7, I can choose my HDD, browse to directory and BAM, whatever I do from here results in not answering. Create folder, delete folder, move folder to the disk.

How can I provide you some information here? From where do people get the log thingie, that helps you?

Also my xp trusty machine also gave errors yesterday, however I will test more today.

Again, best app ever...

Nope, XP still shut down the app, as soon as I make an action with the HDD, I can see it fine, but when you do anything, like add folder, inject or something, it freezes and shuts down with error. sad.gif

When the app closes, it should have a dialog come up telling you the app crashed and all that stuff, then near the bottom will be a button that says "Details".  If you press that, there should be a summary of the error.  If you could post that, it would be wonderful!  I'll also do some testing today for writing a lot of files to see if I can reproduce the error on my machine.

If you're deleting something, it will freeze until it's all done because that part isn't threaded.  If you can do everything else though, then that's probably why.  I'll put an update out tonight with that threaded.

Yeah, just pushed out v1.0.0.12 which threads that stuff.

Full changelog (I haven't posted any of the changelogs for previous updates on here in a while, so this goes back to v1.0.0.9 as well)
QUOTE

v1.0.0.12 threads the delete function so the app won't freeze
Some minor GUI changes
v1.0.0.11 fixes issue with deleting
Fixes issue with the app throwing "Xbox 360 out of storage" error
v1.0.0.10 fixes some GUI issues
Possible writing issues.
v1.0.0.9 fixes issue with drag/drop support
Fixes a problem with reading some usb drives

Also, I'd like to mention that the latest source code is always available directly through the app, or http://clkxu5.com/dr...re/src/fatx.zip
I'm trying to find a way to make it so that the directly isn't forbidden to read from, but for some reason no matter how I chmod it, it's always a "forbidden" directory (even when I tried putting my own PHP script in there to list the files it bitched at me).

Currently, all of the sources in that directly are:

when I say deleting I am refering to a small file of less than a meg and it just stops responding.

Another thing, may or may not be related is after I had copied more content, some of the games that worked then failed to boot from hard disk, maybe some type of corruption??

I just received the message

Got your e-mail, checked it out and it was a silly mistake on my part (the error wasn't true, but yet it threw it anyway).  Pushing out an update right now that should fix that...

As for your other two problems, could you PM me with your IM info if you have AIM or WLM or something like that?

Please make a version for mac OS X .

I steeped over to the mac because windows does have so many trojans , virus and spyware . With the Mac you don't . The only downside is that there are almost no apps for the Xbox 360 .

I have 2 360's : 1 Elite unmodded and a Falcon Jtag with the 9199 dashboard and the freestyle dashboard ( XLink ) .

It is generally not worth the effort to write a program for a Microsoft system on Mac.
However, it is possible, but it would limit the program to being a simple USB explorer since Macs cannot interpret p/invoke calls for opening safe handles.

@sean I'm sorry I haven't gotten around to messaging you; I've been busy these past couple of days with some pre-winter break finals.  I'll be sure to message you tomorrow!

And I pushed out v1.0.0.18, which changes the flow at which some things are written (to reduce problems)
Fixed writing to 2-byte chainmap entries, fixed/changed how I check the file name (the code was very... confusing and messy to say the least and wasn't hitting all acceptable characters either, but does now!)
Added a "read-only" mode
Made it so that the app does NOT load STFS information by default in order to increase performance (this can be changed by going to Drive>Load STFS Info, but is only applied per session)
Changed some things in the source code to make it [slightly] cleaner -- more things commented/summarized, added icons to forms which did not have them, changed the change log box in the updater (that was actually done a few builds [days] ago)
Fixed the timestamp when using a deleted entry/writing a new file or folder (changed this a few builds ago as well).

I wound up changing some other things as well that help control the flow of the program/error handling, I honestly just can't remember what I did to help the performance.

is there any easy way to transfer contents from one 250gb hard drive to another (both official microsoft drives)?

i thought i could just use a program to make a backup of the drive i want copied, then restore that image to the new drive.  i've got one drive i've been using on one 360 and been swapping that drive between the two, but i purchased another 250gb drive so i would no longer have to swap.

i tried making an image with FATXplorer several times, and it always failed at various points (usually after 14 or 15hrs of imaging).  of course Xplorer360 doesn't really support the 250gb drive (except unofficially with a few byte mods) and it usually locked up,  finally got an image with party buffalo drive explorer (pbde), also twice as fast than FATXplorer.  Then when i went to restore that image to my drive, using pbde, i got the dialog box telling me that this could (or will) destroy the drive that i'm writing the image to, so i didn't proceed.

then i decided to do a partition / file / folder copy of the drive i want to copy, never could get it to work properly with FATXplorer (always threw up some form of error, no matter if i did complete directory copies or manually did each file or folder.  didn't even try Xplorer360, since it doesn't really support the drive or has really been updated or supported in the last few years.

i used pbde and it seemed to work fine after a few issues (same issues with folders and files, also doing folders / files or manually), but in the end it seemed to do the job of copying the files to the drive.

now i finally get to try and copy the files / folders from my pc to my other 250gb 360 drive.  first i used pbde, thought things were going well, copied over several folders and files just fine, then the errors started, but the most persistent error is a 'Cluster out of range' error and a few others, so i deleted all the files out of the folder and started manually copying, can always copy 5 or 6 files over fine until that 'Cluster' error pops up.  Other similar errors occur with FATXplorer.

I purchased FATXplorer hoping it would do what i wanted, but i am pretty much giving up on it until 2.0 comes out then i will give it another go.

CLK since your app seems to be working better for me (at the moment), still not perfect, but i notice you constantly seem to be releasing updates, i will be donating your way in the next day or so.  Seems that FATXplorer doesn't get any updates between semi major releases (of course i've only been using it for less than a week, but decided to support the author by purchasing it) or so it seems, but i will keep checking for updates and giving the program some chances.

CLK, if you have any ideas what is causing the cluster out of range errors, help me out if you don't mind.  again i will support you in your efforts by donating, i will atleast donate what i paid for FATXplorer, fair is fair smile.gif

also, we need more (or better, no offense) drag and drop support for both applications (pbde and FATXplorer (FE), there really isn't any for FE and in FE, to do some minute things requires tedious effort(s) ie: injecting / extracing files or folders.

i haven't really spent alot of time with both apps to make a wish list, but both apps seem to have tons of potential so I don't think it would hurt to have some wish items smile.gif

so i thank CLK and Eaton for their time and efforts with both programs, but since FE requires payment to really get use of the program, i would encourage everyone to help CLK out by donating to him.

thanks again guys.

Hello, let me clarify some things for you:

1. Imaging: Yes, it is slow and it only errors at the end, but the dump does complete successfully. 2.0 will dump more sectors at a time, which means it will be faster.

2. Not sure what you mean.

3. I have started on the device to device transfers. Look at this picture. One device form is docked as a tab and one is maximized on another monitor. You will be able to drag and drop between all of the trees. http://img822.images...95/35148945.png

I'm sorry you are having some issues with the current version. However, thanks for supporting me and I assure you that 2.0 will fix all of the issues you are having.

that image of 2.0 looks really really good smile.gif  thanks for the info on the imaging errors, didn't know if the image was corrupt or not, that's why i just deleted it.

trust me, i do support, and continue to support software apps (and the devs) that i use daily and find that i couldn't do without them smile.gif

thanks again, looking forward to 2.0 (much more) now.

Hi, I have tried twice to extract a content directory (97 gig) and it always stops at 61 gig for no apparent reason. Are you caching the xtraction? IS there any obvious reason it does this? I remember with the older XB image xplorer etc, they used to crash if you run out of paged mem etc.. as it cached they whole lot as it went.

[khs] is there any easy way to transfer contents from one 250gb hard drive to another (both official microsoft drives)?

[clk] There's really no easy way (or at least with my app) because of the fact that the device ID's would change. It COULD be as easy as cloning partitions, but since the device ID won't match, then some content won't work (I believe it's a flag in the STFS package?). If I wrote an interface (an IO) specifically for reading files instead of having to jump around and extract each individual cluster, then I could probably whip something up to change the device ID on-the-fly, except I'd need to write up some STFS classes that would be able to properly rehash a file

really all i want to do is just copy my game saves and game updates over to the new 250gb hard drive, none of the arcade apps or saves.  i'm just going to use my new drive on my second system (offline) to install games to and play all titles offline (no arcade titles at all).  i just don't want to lose my progress on all the games i've played over the years.

i've formatted the new drive on my second system (offline), so all i want to do is be able to use the saves from the first drive (online system) on my second system (offline system).  so i really don't want to change the device id or worry about that cause i'm not gonna be playing any xbl titles or using any xbl content on the offline system.

[khs] CLK since your app seems to be working better for me (at the moment), still not perfect, but i notice you constantly seem to be releasing updates, i will be donating your way in the next day or so. [clk] Yep! I try to fix problems as I see them. Since the app has no security and is open-source, it makes it easy to push out updates.

The constant updates are awesome, and shows great support for your app smile.gif

[clk] I actually fixed this error in v1.0.0.19, and thanks! It's really appreciated!

So far i've been using v1.0.0.19 making a new copy of my old 250gb (folders / files only) and have started to copy them over to my new 250gb, just injecting one folder structure at a time, and so far, no 'cluster out of range' errors.

looks like you nipped this problem so far, thanks smile.gif  i haven't had a chance to donate just yet, been tied up the last few days, just got around to trying out the latest pbde as mention above, but i'll get you that donation in the next day or so smile.gif

[khs] also, we need more (or better, no offense) drag and drop support for both applications (pbde and FATXplorer (FE), there really isn't any for FE and in FE, to do some minute things requires tedious effort(s) ie: injecting / extracing files or folders.

[slk] Care to elaborate on this? I'll see what I can do. I have a feeling you mean dragging and dropping from inside the program to explorer?

absolutely, so far there is quite a bit of d&d in your app, but their are some instances, can't recall specific ones, but more integrated d&d from pbde to explorer and explorer to pbde.  but what is in pbde works great and is very handy.

thanks for your help with pbde and thanks for the quick responses and updates.  i'm sure the other users of pbde are all on the same level of appreciation smile.gif

Hi CLK,
I see that you have set the LoadSTFSInfo to be always false, Is that for speed problems or what? I prefer the names to be displayed even if it degrades the performance a bit. The only where it should be disabled I think is for the data install of the games and you know, it should be easy to ignore those. Again thanks for your great work, I actually enjoyed browsing your wonderful code wink.gif

Hahaha, the code is absolutely messy... I'm on winter break, so I'm going to go through and look at most of it (mainly in the reading class) and see if I can find ways to improve it and organize it better.  The LoadSTFSInfo can be set to true by going to the Drive menu and clicking "Load STFS Information", and yeah the reason why it was disabled is because I noticed that when going in to a folder with maybe 20 packages, it sort of dragged the speed down.  In the next update (hopefully sometime this week since I'm now on winter break, adding package creation) I'll make it so that it automatically saves user settings though.

Also, I need to add support for null files (although I don't really see anyone injecting null files...), as they aren't assigned any cluster which could cause some issues.  I also need to work on a better way of determining the FAT size, as sometimes the number needs to be rounded, sometimes it doesn't.

Thanks for your support and opinions!  I completely removed the throwing of the "cluster out of range" error since I figured that if anything is going to be writing to your device, it's most likely not going to write an incorrect number (the cluster out of range exception was actually thrown on false alarms, due to an invalid cluster number which I can't currently fix without causing an infinite loop [can't fix at this very moment, at least]).

As for dragging and dropping, I'll see what I can do about dragging outside of the app.  Thanks again!

appreciate the responses clk.  i finally got around to copying over my backed up files and folders from my old 250gb drive to my new 250gb drive, things were going great, pretty much everything copied over till i started on the Content\0000000000000000 folders.

got about halfway through only copying one folder at a time and now i constantly get the 'FUCK YOU' error when trying to copy over any more folders.

any ideas or ways i can send you a log of what is happening?  thanks for the help!

Changelog for v1.0.0.20:
Improved caching (I actually noticed a flaw with my function that loaded files/folders, and the flaw was that if the user chose to load deleted entries, and we didn't load them before -- I would reload the entire thing, including files and folders.  It's now been changed to where it loads the deleted entries with everything else to avoid reloading!)
Loading of game names for title ID folders
Saving user settings
New toolbar/quick messages (updated by me whenever)
Other things I can't really remember (I'm soooooooooooooo tired right now...)

Still no support for null files!  Too lazy to edit a couple of functions.

Thank you!  Totally skipped my mind when I was implementing that stuff, but I believe I'll add this in the next update:

IPB Image

Those subfolders are annoying to figure out what's what in the 000000... folder.  Upcoming update will also fix invalid characters for title names -- I wasn't reading unicode strings.

Edit 12/23/2010:
I feel as though I've gotten enough feedback to bump the app from beta to RC, and with that, I plan on doing a large rewrite of a lot of my code to make it more functional, reduce duplicate code, and make it a lot more neater (really means nothing for the end user, except maybe some speed increases).

There is a bug it seems: I have a 250GB HDD and not all my title updates are showing in the cache folder, 10 out of 21 or so, just checked it with xplorer360 250gb patched version and it shows them. Gonna debug and see if I can find anything but it looks more serious than that to me biggrin.gif

Oh God I need to go through and remove all of the errors that come up with that... (when I'm debugging, I like to just use quick errors with variants of the word "fuck" so I know that it's something bad).  I just looked at it, and I noticed that the "FUCK YOU" message box only comes up in one specific function which I removed from later builds (starting around v1.0.0.17).  Are you currently running the latest?  If so, I'll send you a build with catches removed so we can pinpoint the problem.

Quick update...

http://i.min.us/ibrooQ.png

It's a little slow at this moment, but that's because I'm loading the subfolder for each title ID folder, and then the files & folders within that folder, then when you go to click on the folder, it has to load them again (basically, I'm not caching the referenced folder) - nevermind, I am caching it... it just takes a while when you have games with lots of files!.  I'll make some modifications to that later in order to speed things up.  Folders without any given game name don't have any files within the folder, so I can't grab the name.

Edit:
The update is now live.  View a screenshot of the updated GUI here: http://i.min.us/ibvHCk.png

New toolbar/quick messages (updated by me whenever)
Other things I can't really remember (I'm soooooooooooooo tired right now...)

Still no support for null files!  Too lazy to edit a couple of functions.

i was running v1.0.0.19 when getting those errors.  thanks for all the quick fixes.  i haven't had a chance to do anything yet, so i will try out the latest build tonight.

again, thanks for the quick fixes.  shows great support and dedication, appreciated by all of us!

No thank you, much appreciated. By the way, the latest source code of your app is not available, it gives me 404 error on the web page.

Whoops, I'll fix that right now.
I believe I fixed the bug with the app not reading as many folders/files, would you feel like testing it for me?  http://clkxu5.com/pbde.exe  Just uh... don't write anything with that build haha

Thanks, yes, it fixed it, now it shows all of them, I can get the source now without problem too  cool.gif
I wonder what was the problem though biggrin.gif

EDIT: LOL, That was cute : #if DEBUG  "What. Why are you lookin at my source code" #endif biggrin.gif

tongue.gif if you read through my comments, you'll see that I like to have a little bit of fun while I code.

The problem was that early in development, I wasn't really thinking and the function that grabs the entries in a folder is supposed to stop after looping 0x100 times (the maximum amount of entries allowed in a 0x4000 byte cluster (0x4000/0x40 = 0x100)), except I put 100 on accident.  I really shouldn't have put 100 anyway since cluster sizes can vary, so I did away with that and just put a quick math function in there.

One other thing I'm fixing right now is deleting entries in folders that span across multiple folders.  I was thinking, and if you delete all entries that are in the last cluster in a folder, then the FAT chain would still be written, except there'd be just a bunch of deleted entries in the last cluster.  It really doesn't matter since it's not like it's really affecting anything, but that's an extra 16KB that another file/folder could be using.

i haven't had a chance to try things out yet, but i did run the app to get the latest build and after download, got a debug error, restarted, re-downloaded and it worked fine.  i will find some time tonight to check things out.

also i sent you a $40 donation (just about 5 minutes ago) for all the work and the helpful input and support you give.  that's what i paid for the offline licensed edition of FATXplorer and i told you that i support the devs of the software i use most and like i said, fair is fair smile.gif

i updated to the latest and i also downloaded the exe, speed is fine with the program.  i have run into a couple of things that i think may be related to what moh.sakhaii was describing earlier with missing files.  i'm keeping a log of what i find out may be issues so as to hopefully help you out smile.gif  here is a little log of what i've found so far:

-----

1) straight extract from Data/Cache and out of 160 files on the xbox drive, it extracted 155 files to local drive \Data\Cache

2) manual extract from Data/Cache (10 files selected) and out of 10 files on xbox drive, it extracted 5 files to local drive \Data\Cache

3) manual extract from Data/Cache, 5 files selected on xbox drive, 5 files extracted, selected next 5 files from xbox drive and only 1 out of those 5 extracted to local drive \Data\Cache, so out of 10 files (5 selected on each extract) only 6 copied over.

4) did a straight extract of the entire Compatibility folder (root) and all folders and files copied over fine:

Compatibility\TDBX\Tdbx.db
Compatibility\Compatibility\config.bin
Compatibility\Compatibility\xbox.XEX
Compatibility\Compatibility\xefu.XEX
Compatibility\Compatibility\dash\xboxdash.xbe
Compatibility\Compatibility\dash\fonts
Compatibility\Compatibility\dash\xodash

i didn't want to list every file in every folder, but i checked and everything copied over fine.

just a little info i found out so far with Version: 1.0.0.22

thanks again for the hard work!

SHORT VERSION: I didn't comment out a function, should have.

Sometimes we developers like to do things the hard way tongue.gif
You could find all the references to that function with the power of visual studio or just comment it and let the errors pop in during compilation, but I know that you now better than me, just found a reason to chat with you biggrin.gif

Very interesting... I'll be sure to look in to it!  I just came to a conclusion why you got the "FUCK YOU" error a couple days ago as well:
Two functions doing the same thing, one used for writing to a cluster based off of an offset, the other used for writing to a cluster based off of cluster number (relative to the beginning of the drive).  I though I removed all references to the latter because that didn't work out too well when the block number could be passed as an offset on accident (really stupid mistake on my part).  Because of this, in the function that used the block number, I just had it show that message box so I could debug and make sure I got rid of all of calls to that function, but under the conditions with my drive, it never hit the code that executed the function but did on your drive (because of the number of folders & files within a folder).

SHORT VERSION: I didn't comment out a function, should have.

that's good to know, makes since now with the way you described it.  i'm still doing some other stuff and double checking things before i post any issues i discover.

i haven't coded in a few years, but i'm gonna install my old copy of msvs2008pe and take some peeks at your various source codes, sounds a little interesting.

don't wanna be a pest posting issues i find, but with everyone troubleshooting and finding issues for you to check out, i think your program will be much more stable and complete, but it's a great program you got going here smile.gif

also, i've been doing some more extracting (straight / manual - straight is complete folder structure - manual is, well folder by folder or file by file if needed), here's what i've got so far:

1) straight extract of Data/$TitleUpdate (1 folder within) from xbox drive to local drive \Data\$TitleUpdate, copied fine

2) straight extract of Data/Compatibility (1 folder within) from xbox drive to local drive \Data\Compatibility, copied fine

3) straight extract of Data/Content/E00000D35A83DAEB (2 folders within) from xbox drive to local drive \Data\Content\E00000D35A83DAEB, copied fine

4) straight extract of Data/Content/E0003EB9D832559A (1 folder within) from xbox drive to local drive \Data\Content\E0003EB9D832559A, copied fine

5) straight extract of Data/Content/E00003655A83DAEB (3 folders within) from xbox drive to local drive \Data\Content\E00003655A83DAEB, copied fine

6) straight extract of Data/Content/E00000155A74D824 (300 total folders) from xbox drive to local drive \Data\Content\E00000155A74D824, all folders copied fine (300 total) now going through every folder in E00000155A74D824 structure and checking folder / file contents.  only checked 3 folders so far, but everything looks good.

on 1 - 5, all subfolders and files within those directory structures all copied over to the local drive structure completely fine, no files or folders missing with a straight extract.

also an update on a previous post where i had issues copying files from Data/Cache.  my mistake, i had my new xbox hd hooked up and those files were from my previous attemps at copying with the older versions of pbde, instead of the original 250gb xbox drive i want to copy from.

here is the update (with the proper drive attached, my fault):

1) straight extract from Data/Cache and out of 1674 files on the xbox drive, it extracted 1674 files to local drive \Data\Cache

2) manual extract from Data/Cache (10 files selected) and out of 10 files on xbox drive, it extracted 10 files to local drive \Data\Cache

3) manual extract from Data/Cache, 5 files selected on xbox drive, 5 files extracted, selected another 5 files from xbox drive and 5 out of

those 5 extracted to local drive \Data\Cache, so out of 10 files (5 selected on each extract) all 10 copied over.

so on my old 250gb xbox hd i want to copy data from, all the files in the Data/Cache folder (1674 files) copied over fine, there are no issues there.  but with my new 250gb xbox hd hooked up (in error) i ran into errors trying to copy the Data/Cache contents over to my local drive.  but now with the old 250gb drive(correct one i want data from), everything in the Data/Cache folder worked fine.

i don't know why i was getting copy problems from the new 250gb drive, but that's not an issue any longer. again my error, sorry smile.gif

also, the other directory structures i mentioned are all correct and proper.

Great to hear!  I'll be looking around though to see if it's something wrong with my code that caused it to not extract the previous time.  But I really like hearing about the issues because usually, it will lead me to find something else wrong with the app.  For instance, the issue you and moh had caused me to find that bug with the "FUCK YOU" error to come up which wasn't a very nice bug.  As for the source, don't look at the form code.  It's  messy and ugly  rolleyes.gif

heh everyone has their own coding style, so no worries there.  i corrected my previous post with the correct folder counts and how they extracted (with the proper drive attached) and so far things are going well.  i've retraced my steps of what i've copied and tried with the wrong drive (new 250gb), and done all the steps with the correct drive hooked up (old 250gb, the drive i want data from).

for some strange reason, the wrong drive (new drive i want to copy my data to), there were issues with copying various folder and file structures.  i guess the directory structures could have been corrupted from my previous attempts to copy data from my old drive to it (new one).

it's a bit confusing, i apologize, but it was my fault having the wrong drive hooked up.  with the proper drive hooked up, everything is looking good, just gonna finish extracting and double check all the folders / files.

again apologies, don't wanna send you on a goose chase for no reason. so call off the dogs, everything is looking good smile.gif

CODE

private void menuItem15_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
        //Clipboard.SetText(treeView1.SelectedNode.FullPath);
        try
        {
            Clipboard.SetDataObject(treeView1.SelectedNode.FullPath, true, 10, 100);

        {
            MessageBox.Show("Copy to clipboard operation failed!, Please make sure no other application is using clipboard actively and try again later");
        }

SetText is sort of old and deprecated if not officially, instead use SetDataObject with retry delay and retry times to have a better chance of succeeding, and if all fails a message like that should do the job wink.gif

With the build you posted above, browsing nodes is not slow at all, I just didn't inject anything with it.

Huh, that's weird.  It was EXTREMELY slow for me (17 seconds using old method, 32 with what was in the build above).  That was the only thing that was slow though since the STFS information was the only thing involving the stream.  I think I actually may have sped up extracting in this one too because I didn't realize it, but in prior builds if you have loading STFS information enabled, then as you extract a folder it will load the STFS information for a file if you haven't already.  I changed that so when you're extracting, loading STFS information is disabled by default.

And here is the full change log for RC:
Added: Search tool
Added: Bookmarks
Added: Getting STFS package thumbnails in properties form
Added: Custom Backups (choose the content to backup to your PC)
Added: Recent files
Fixed: Automatically refreshing merged folders
Fixed: Listview sorting
Fixed: Issue with reading game name for title ID folders when it's disabled, and for when it's disabled/refreshing the directory WITH it enabled
Fixed: Reading smaller STFS packages
Fixed: Reading game name from some title ID folders would return an empty string.  If there are more files, it will keep trying until it gets something different
Fixed: Canceling extracting/injecting operations
Changed: When getting a title ID folder's actual game name, subfolders will be added to that node
Changed: Retrieving game names doesn't require STFS information to be loaded
Changed: Dev hard drives now appear as "XDK Hard Disk" rather than "Xbox 360 Hard Disk", but they still need work (partition sizes are off)

CLK,

sorry i haven't been around much the last few weeks, been in the hospital, these old iraq injuries seem to keep biting me in the ass and causing problems for me.

alas,

the program is looking great, appreciate all the work you are putting into it.  i haven't had much chance to check out the new code, but i will in the next few days and then dig into testing things out.  but from what i can tell, you have done alot of great work.

once i get caught up with thing around here since i've been out, i'll be glad to offer any help and support you need.

Nope, no filtering by STFS name.
Since it's all folders and files, you don't know what's what on that custom backup, now do you? and you can not load a custom backup just like you could load a full dump.

You know, I actually had it set to CRC-32, MD5, and SHA-1, but something is messed up with my stream to where the MD5 function would *sometimes* try to go beyond the length of the stream (no idea), and the SHA-1 function would ALWAYS go beyond the length of the stream.

Thanks for sharing it, but I didn't find any method for calculating MD5 in there, I added this:
CODE

 private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
        {

            System.IO.Stream stream = xFile.GetStream();
            //textBox1.Text = Calculate(stream).ToHexString();
            MD5CryptoServiceProvider md5Provider = new MD5CryptoServiceProvider();
            textBox1.Text = md5Provider.ComputeHash(stream).ToHexString();
        }

The  problem seems to be that FATXFileStream is not a complete implementation of Stream as it should be, and MD5 method just hits the end of disk apparently biggrin.gif
Then I replaced the code with these lines instead in the hopes of just giving a byte[] to the MD5 method:
CODE

private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
        {

            System.IO.Stream stream = xFile.GetStream();
            byte[] buf = new byte[stream.Length];
            stream.Read(buf, 0, (int)stream.Length);

            //textBox1.Text = Calculate(stream).ToHexString();

            MD5CryptoServiceProvider md5Provider = new MD5CryptoServiceProvider();
            textBox1.Text = md5Provider.ComputeHash(buf).ToHexString();
        }

Again it failed, lol biggrin.gif I think it's obvious enough that the Read method of your stream is not doing what it should, but I do not know shit about FATX and all the logic that you have used, so I hope this could give you a hint as what is wrong wink.gif

                long v_bToRemove = RealOffset - RealSectorOffset;
                // Get the amount to remove off the the end of our list
                long up = m.UpToNearest200(RealOffset + count);
                long v_eToRemove = up - (RealOffset + count);
                // Get the total amount of data we have to read
                long v_ToRead = m.UpToNearest200(v_bToRemove + v_eToRemove + count);
                // Set our return value's length

OK this does not make any sense to me
CODE

 if (count <= xFile.PartInfo.ClusterSize && what >= count)
            {
                // Get the amount to remove off of the beginning of our list...
                long v_bToRemove = RealOffset - RealSectorOffset;
                // Get the amount to remove off the the end of our list
                long up = m.UpToNearest200(RealOffset + count);
                long v_eToRemove = up - (RealOffset + count);
                // Get the total amount of data we have to read
                long v_ToRead = m.UpToNearest200(v_bToRemove + v_eToRemove + count);
                // Set our return value's length
                b_Return = new byte[v_ToRead];
                // Read our shit
                Underlying.Read(b_Return, offset, (int)v_ToRead);
                // Copy our return to the original array
                Array.Copy(b_Return, v_bToRemove, array, 0x0, b_Return.Length - (v_bToRemove + v_eToRemove));
                // Clear the b_Return array
                Array.Clear(b_Return, 0, b_Return.Length);
            }

Going to be 100% honest: me either.  Basically, what happens there is I have to calculate the amount of data to shave off the beginning and end of the read data (since you can only read in intervals of 0x200 on drives), calculate the amount of data we have to read from our current position to the end, allocate b_Return (this array is what is holding the "total" data temporarily), copy only the data we need from that array in to the array passed in the args.

Of course, I was pretty tired/had school/(etc. excuses) when I was writing that, and is the reason why the stream doesn't support writing.  It seems to work just fine though... which is what seriously surprises me.  The ReadByte function may appear to be a little messed as well -- I was trying to get it to cache the data from that sector so if another byte is read from that segment, I can just call to the index in memory instead of having to go back, read the same 0x200 again, etc. etc. (tl;dr failed)

Oo, didn't see the post above that one.  Yeah, it tried to go past the end of the file, which I'll have to play around with later, check the call stack, etc. (I've got a feeling it happens at this line right here: "Position += DataRead;" (line 790).  I think I've got to write up another function for changing only the underlying stream's position accordingly (so it's in the appropriate cluster/position in that cluster) no, that's retarded.

hi
one of my friend, before formatting his "usb360pendrive", backupped all the DATA files u see in this pic
he didn't know about fatx programs...did he lost all the savegames? are all of these data files useless?
is data0001 the file with savegames? (the others are too huge imho)

thanks and great app!

after 3 tries, i've restored all the savegames
--> opened the usb pen(8gb) with the backupped files (data0001,0002 etc)
--> extracted to c:\   the "content" folder
--> opened the 360hd (60gb) (previously formatted from the 360 and then I did just one savegame)
--> deleted the folder "content" inside this 360hd
--> injected the folder "content" from c:\ to 360hd

thanks again

Also... I may or may not have fixed the MD5 problem by recoding the multi-file IO.  I'll have to run some more tests later, but looks like it it is still broken.  Weird, it worked for some things.

Hope you figure it out, if you do, it means that the stream manipulator is perfect which would be awesome by itself.

Quick update on what I have semi-planned (I say semi because I'm just like that):

A few ideas I had in mind were to allow the user to create known/cached folders so they don't have to look up title ID's or whatnot (this is actually done, but I don't really like the way that I presented it.  I had another idea of designing another form to sort of look like how Steam can organize the games with an image that represents it -- in this case being the game's icon taken from a package, and then cached (see here: http://thefrugalnerd...amlibrary.jpg))

New folder stuff... http://i.min.us/ijU1MU.png

Another idea that I wanted to do was have tabbed browsing so that you could open multiple drives in one window and transfer between them, but I'm not too sure how the transferring between them would go (although it would be pretty easy I believe).  This would allow me to easily allow opening custom backups too wink.gif (and recoding the Main form!  Very messy...)

The last thing I had in mind was fixing the god damn auto-updater.  Broken as Hell...  I'll probably also be compiling a DLL if I do decide to do the transferring content thing, since that will most likely be the last change I'll make to the core, and going along with this I added a function for getting the total amount of free space left of the drive (off by a few clusters for now (haven't even tested lol), but I'll go about fixing that later).

Here's the latest dev source:
http://clkxu5.com/dr...re/src/fatx.zip

On another note:
I went to PAX East, which is mainly why I didn't do anything else above in that build except for the folder stuff.

It was starting to extract a DLC file and then it "stopped responding" or something. Something happened and I had to close it, or else I would have let it keep going. I can't remember exactly what happened but if it didn't seem like anything, I would have let it do it's thing but that wasn't the case.

EDIT: The "Unhandled Exception Occured" error popped up with that version. It will open every other folder but my actual profile.

For some reason, after my 360 RROD on me and I got it back from repair, it made a new content and cache folder instead of using the old ones. Now all my saves are still on the HDD but I can't access them. Your program is the best one I've tried to use so far, but I'm still getting some errors with it. I can't exactly tell what's causing the error form here, but if you have some time later I could look at the disk in a hex editor (via Teamviewer or something) and try to diagnose the problem.  Do you recall what the error before the stack trace was?  In all honesty, I feel as though the FAT chain for those are corrupt and so it's pointing to the wrong cluster, and is trying to read something it shouldn't.

When trying to opening the folders the error it gives is "Data error (cyclic redundancy check)." Also when trying to extract the "Co|-ent" folder anywhere it says "Illegal characters in path" and cancels the extraction.

Yeah it was a stupid mistake so each block was off by one, so I thought I fixed it but I didn't since I didn't realize it'd still throw an exception when I seek to the very end of the file (which is what it was doing).  Above you had mentioned moving content, and I'm actually about to put that in to moving files/folders to a different folder then I'll work on injecting content from the custom backup browser.

I love this program and its development.  Have a question though, want to move folders from external FAT32 to internal FATX.  Currently seem to only be able to do it one folder at a time by injection.  Can't drag and drop from explorer to PBDE or use shift to select multiple folders to inject. Read through all comments and not sure if missed something.  Also does it support sata as i couldn't get it to recognize fatx drive unless on usb. Running W7x64.

thanks again and i will be donating as this is quite frankly, invaluable and the best program i have ever used for this task.

I am having problems using the software and was wondering if anyone could help.

HDD messed up the other week and said it was unformatted.

Loaded it up with Party Buffalo and found all my saved files still there.

I copied a folder onto my PC and then injected the folder into another HDD. I checked on the memory on the xbox live system settings and the files were there and were not corrupt.

When I went on the game however it didn't detect the saved files, and when checking the files did not have any ownership and so were not detected.

Did I do something wrong when moving the files?

Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks

Thank you! About your question -- you can't select multiple folders because for some reason the FolderBrowserDialog class in .NET doesn't allow for multiselect.  I have no idea why, and because you mention it I'll try to look for an alternate solution (if I remember correctly, there's documentation somewhere around my computer on modifying the OpenFileDialog through Win32API's!).  The problem with dragging/dropping (and maybe even the problem with the SATA stuff) might be due to UAC being on and not running the app as admin (for the dragging/dropping issue, UAC must be turned off as determined by icepir8 somewhere in this thread).

Hey, sorry I didn't reply before... I've been awfully busy lately and didn't bother checking this thread or even X-S at all.  If the saves "have no ownership" then they might not be under the correct profile folder.  Double-check that (just right-click one of the files, go to properties, and check the profile ID) and if you're still having issues, feel free to email me: clkxu5 [atfuckspambots] gmail . com

Hi, I encountered the following bug in Party Buffalo Drive Explorer v1.0.0.24 when inserting Title Updates on cache folder:

IPB Image

I happens every time I insert many TU. The pendrive is empty, has 4gb of mem and the only use its Title Updates...

Also its slow as hell. And tried with many pendrives.

Thanks and congrats for the app.

Hi, this error is still present with latest 1.0.1.6 version. I tested it with a 2gb pendrive and a 4gb pendrive. Could you look into it?
Thanks man, love the app

Hello,
As previously stated, the cause of the error is not because of any fault in the app, it's because you have too much shit in that partition, which can only hold 72 MB -- and by my calculations you have barely under that.  Right-click on anywhere in the treeview and select "Drive Information" and everything except for the partition ID will look exactly like this:

IPB Image

No matter how much storage you decide to dedicate to your Xbox 360, the size of the cache partition and Data000 file will always be the same.

Any chance of the date information and sorting options being changed to something like YYYY/MM/DD instead of MM/DD/YYYY.

Great application overall, just hoping date modified sorting can be tweked to display and acta bit better.

Thanks.

I think I can manage to whip something up in the settings.

@Dolphin your external is Xbox 360 formatted and it's not reading it?  Does it show up in the device selector at all?

Quick update for anyone who may be having issues/slow writing times: I decided to just recode the whole app.  I'll probably be posting more progress on my blog (clkxu5.com) than I will here, so if anyone feels like testing that (I'm guessing I'll have this finished in ~1-2 weeks) before I update the current app it'd be appreciated if you'd check there every now and then to see what's going on.

The reason for me deciding to recode it is that after seeing some users have issues with Party Buffalo's performance (and it's actually a few seconds slow in testing compared to some other newer FATX explorers in development by their testings (not by mine for some reason...)).  One user told me it took him 24 hours to inject 6 GB, with another taking about an hour.  This to me just seems absurd and I figure that recoding would allow me to crush a lot of bugs while improving the source code to allow for more/easier expansion.

Hey CLK, it seems that multiple extraction might result in bad reads. I will get files with 0 size randomly, if I do a multiple extraction, however one by one extraction worked just fine. I think you have to check this bug and get it rectified in the 2.0 version.

Just about nothing works, and the STFS/icon stuff I almost literally just implemented, but try it out:

I tried this now and three hours ago, and no, I can't download this, there is something wrong with the megaupload.

Weird... well good for you then, because you get an even newer build.  Be careful though because while almost everything reading related is done, I decided to do the writing functions in order from least useful on a daily bases to most useful, so the only thing done right now is deleting.

Still, there are files with zero size on the first attempt, the second attempt corrected them, but it is really odd. If that helps I was extracting title updates from my cache, If we need to debug this by code let me know. As I said before the problem arises when I choose multiple files and try to extract them to a folder.

I'll try to take a look at it on my end and see if I can have it happen for me, if not I'll definitely send you a message.

Hello, I've connected my Xbox 360 Elite 120GB drive to my PC by a CK3 Pro and sata.
I've downloaded Party Buffale Drive Explorer 2.0.0.2 and 360RS.

What I want to do is transfer the savegames to my new Xbox 360 Slim 250GB drive.
I want to be sure that I'm doing the thing well. So I'm I right when I do it like this:

Open the 120GB drive with PBDE go to Data > Content, then I've got three folders:
One containing zero's only and two gamer profiles.
I open the folder of the gamer profile I'm using, and by using the right mouse on each game I can extract them to my PC.
Now I have to recover my Gamertag on the new Xbox 360 Slim with the 250GB drive. After I've don that connect it to my PC. When I'm right the same gamer profile folder will be on the new Slim 250GB drive. So I only need to inject te folders I just extracted.

Did I say something wrong?

Then I have two questions:
-Can I use the savegames of my other gamer profile when I resign them?
-Do I need tho transfer the DLC from my old drive to the new one? When i have to do I need to resign them (I don't think so but just to be sure)

Thanks in advance!

Sorry to you and the fellow I quoted below.  I haven't been on Xbox-Scene in a while.  Does this problem still exist in the latest version?  If so, I'll send you a build that will try to at least give some sort of error message.
