e.g. if you have games in Y:\Console\Medal.of.Honor , Y:\Console\Enslaved
     select Y:\Console
2. you choose between ftp mode or locale extract mode (checkbox with name ftp)
3. with ftp:
you choose your xbox ip and as destination e.g. \hdd1\Games or \usb0\Games
   without ftp:
you can press on the button to choose a directory or type it in by hand
4. you hit the rescan button
5. you can rearrange the extraction queue (right click and drag and drop)
6. you can rename the extraction names (by pressing F2 or clicking on the name)
this will be used as full path e.g. you used as destination \hdd1\Games
and the game name you choose was Medal.Of.Honor than the full path would be
   \hdd1\Games\Medal.Of.Honor
7.optional: if an iso was found that you don't want to extract hit the checkbox
in front of the name to deselect it (it won't get extracted then)
to invert the chechboxes click invert
8 optional: deselect skip $SystemUpdate and/or select delete iso
9. hit go
10. lean back and let the software do the rest.
Now it shows you the current status (statusbars at the bottom).
For more information on the current extraction you can go to the current tab

beta tested it with 181 isos and only 3 failed to extract, seems like an exiso problem with very old games.

nice tool

I forgot to mention that it automatically deletes the $SystemUpdate directory, because it is most likely not needed.
If someone really needs that, I can implement a checkbox that it won't be deleted on complete.

Another way would be to extract the $SystemUpdate directory with wx360 or XBOX360 Image Browser.

"+ each iso will be extracted to the target_dir\where_the_iso_is_located_in"

Any chance you could make it so you can choose a default target drive/directory? Over it automatically using the source target?

Extraction would be MUCH faster if it was not writing to the same drive as source.

Thanks!

well maybe it's not well written

Your suggested behaviour is already in the application.

F:\ISO\AC2\iso.iso

and you select dir h:\iso_extract

than the extracted dir of the particular iso-file would be:

h:\iso_extract\AC2\

I hope this makes it clear

Sorry, I had not actually tried it yet.  I was going based on what I quoted.

Thanks I will be trying this later, this looks like the most effective BATCH extractor to date.

Supporting directory recursion is awesome, how many people keep all their ISO's in a single directory?

I just tried this tool, by far the very best batch ISO extractor to date..  Just select your base directory you want to extract your ISO's from and make sure recursive is set to on (it is by default), set the destination for ALL extracted dirs and click scan, It then scans all your ISO's and puts them up with them all checked to extract (you can deselect whatever you want at that point) then click go.  It reproduces the same directory name on the destination with extracted contents for each ISO from the dir it was in. (minus the $SystemUpdate folder)

Perfect

Thanks again!!

The only addition I would ask if you are looking for any feature requests is the ability to generate a local directory structure for quickboot 2.0 after extraction. (Similar to what e-xiso GUI has) http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=706990

You should post a link to this over at xboxhacker.net in their software forum also.

thank you. I've posted it on xboxhacker.org

Well about your feature request. I don't really see the point in it. When you extract all the isos to one directory, you can scan for it locally. exiso gui has the feature because it copies the files to the ftp and therefore you need a local copy of it. That's not the case here.

So the current goals for the next version are:

- Multi-DVD support (currently both Mass_Effect isos must be in seperate directories)
- Quickboot-File autogeneration (well maybe, quickboot2.0 is very good in it already)

Feel free to ask for more

Sorry, you are correct.  I did not realize that you could just launch quickboot and point it to where everything was extracted and generate and upload for all of them from quickboot.

So that really is not needed then.

Yes, QuickBoot works great with local extracted isos, in exiso_GUI Quickboot-File autogeneration is only used for isos that have been extracted directly on FTP : it creates a local copy of the FTP folder tree.
Great tool too Somski, thanks ! smile.gif

it names the directory like you named the directory where the iso is located in. So why not simply name the directory correct where you put your iso?^^

This is by far the best extraction tool for 360 iso.

However, for those who use this program frequently, it is repetitive to have to select the iso and destination folder each time the program is executed, especially when the user selects the same exact folders each time.

To simplify implementation would it be possible to add two check boxes, one for saving the iso folder location and one for saving the destination location?  Then the check box options  could possibly saved to a text file and is loaded each time the program is executed (The delete iso check box should probably always default to unchecked). The folder locations could be saved to the text file as well.

Also did anyone have trouble extracting Saints Row, this program only seems extracts the .mp3 files and such and not all the files in the iso, and the program saids the extraction was successful.

Other Suggested Features/Improvements
------------------------------------------------
*Display the size of all the files in each iso.

*Display the total size of all the files for all the checked iso's

*Check to see if the extract destination has enough space and display a message if not enough space. (I haven't run into the issue of not having enough space, so might already be implemented)

*Consistent capitalization and naming conventiions on program labels/buttons/etc

*Automatically scan the iso folder when the folder is selected, or scan that folder upon execution if the location was previously saved.

*A visual indication that the top and lower display panel can be adjusted up and down (maybe a lined bar).

*"files: 0" and "isos: 0/0" indicators be placed directly next to or on top of their respective progress bars.

* A check to see if an iso folder has been selected when the "Go" button is pressed, otherwise display a message.

*Remove dummy files (I don't know if there is a standard way that dummy files are created, but Saints Row has two dummy files that saids "Layer0Filler" and "Layer1Filler".

*Flip the positions of the choose destination and iso folder buttons and close the gap between them (and widen the gap between those two buttons and the scan button), or just remove the text for those buttons and make them smaller and move them next to their respective folder location text fields.  The second option would free up some space on the left side of the screen to add more options/status messages.

I hope these suggestion prove useful.  Also, I'm not trying to be dictative or anything like that, but just wanted to give some feedback.

Wow. Great work somski. I was looking for an application working in Linux and this command worked:
wine exiso.exe -x file.iso

But I bet this is possible using a native Linuxbased CLI-tool, but I haven't find that yet.

The only thing I miss is some progressbar in percent so I know it's not stuck, but low priority.

Too late to edit, so I have to make another post.

This command works like a charm:
wine exiso.exe -x /path/to/filename.iso

It's creating a folder named filename.

But this command fails:
wine exiso.exe -x /path/to/filename.000

Output:
unable to create directory /path/to/filename.000: File exsist
failed to extract xbox iso image /path/to/filename.000

I compared output using:
file filename.iso and filename.000 and the output was identical, so I just tried to rename .000 to .iso and that worked. I don't know if this is effects the GUI.

I was looking for the same thing a week or so ago, and ran across this (below) -- seems to be a port of an older (xbox 1) dvd extraction program (updated to work with Xbox 360).  It compiled and ran quite well on Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic/AMD64) fwiw.  For people comfortable with the command line, most of the requests (for this option or that option, etc) are available in this guy's port -- sorry I don't have a direct link to the code, but I bookmarked the page where he listed where to download it:

http://www.xboxhacke...?topic=13553.20

It's called extract-xiso.  I haven't been around the "scene" long enough to know if this is a remake of a popular tool, or even if it's just a port of *this* tool, so hope I'm not stepping on any toes by pointing you in this direction.  Anyway, worked for me (sans Wine) and it's been my go-to extraction tool ever since.

Cheers, hope that helps.

Are there any application where you can "UnExtract"? What I want is to be able to extract an ISO. Make some changes (remove system update folder or whatever) and then "pack" all extracted files as an ISO file again. Are there any app that can do that?

Nice work on the new release! Looks cool. Just 2 issues I've come across:

If you open the app and select your source and destination folders, the click the arrow down it throws this error:

IPB Image

It's obviously because no game is checked, but you might want to do "if no item is select do nothing" etc...

Second issue is if rescan, select the ISO on the top, click the arrow down, the button changes from green to yellow, when it should actually remain green since all you doing is moving the iso down the priority list:

IPB Image

Thanks!

And no there is no trojan in it. Sometimes exiso gets detected as trojan but it's not (might be because of its ftp library). And my GUI doesn't establish any internet connection at all.

So I've been trying to get this to work as I have all of my isos on an external drive and I'm trying to extract them to play on the JTAG.  This is the first version of this program that I have attempted to use and it seems as though nothing is working.  If anyone cares to glance at this or directly me to a step by step tutorial that would be great!

1.  Start Program
2.  Click "Choose ISO Folder"
3.  Go to COMPUTER, DRIVE I (my external), XBOX 360 GAMES (Where all of my game zips, isos, files, etc are located) and click OK
4.  Program asks if I want to flush the queue and I click YES
5.  I then get a list of about 30 isos and uncheck them all except I:\Xbox 360 Games\MLB.2K10.USA.XBOX360-DComics\dmsx-m2m2\dmsx-m2m2.iso
6.  Then I click "CHOOSE DESTINATION FOLDER" and select USB0 (G drive which is my other external I connect to my JTAG 360) and select the GAMES folder (where all of my previously extracted isos are currently working on my JTAG 360) and click OK.
7.  I then click the green colored "GO" (after I click GO then button turns from green to red color)
8.  Screen says "starting iso-batch extraction"
9.  Additional information says dmsx-m2m2[dmsx-m2m2.iso] will be extracted to G:\GAMES\dmsx-m2m2
10.  Nothing seems to be happening after that.  Above the red colored "GO" button says "0/1 ISOs"

Any thoughts/help or a link to a step by step tutorial would be appreciated!

THANKS in advance.

After clicking on the GO button, try to look into the directory where you wanted to extract it to. While extracting one file there is no status message. So it might work, you just don't notice it. Just look if the filesize grows.

Hi somski,

Any chance you could add in the ability to upload directly to via FTP?

That would be awesome!

Thanks smile.gif

Some more error handling. Get the same exception if you do the following:

Open XBOX360ISOExtract.exe
Don't select iso folder or destination
untick recursive and delete iso
Click rescan and you will get an exception.

Open XBOX360ISOExtract.exe
Don't select iso folder or destination
untick recursive and delete iso
Click "Choose ISO Folder" then click cancel and you will get an exception.

somski you know you can do on the fly extraction with the ISO to FTP with exiso to save time extracting then copying contents right?

also: those having issues with AVG, check out Microsoft Security Essentials, ten times better and wont flag files as virus incorrectly. I am a tech by day and 90% of the virus infection removals I go out to houses for are people wiht AVG, its really junk software.

Nice job on the app =)

Unfortunately all these great apps are always lack of instructions, that's make almost anybody to use it.... Don't blame I am a noob, I am not. I just think who develop some apps should at least try to explain how to use it. Basically all Free60 apps are lacking of instructions, making everyone begging for "how to use it"

Can I make a suggestion for the next release. I use the program almost daily, and it works fantastic.

Could you implement a check all/ uncheck all check box above all the other check boxes? I check this box to uncheck all the boxes or check them all. I need this, as sometimes I only want to select one iso out of the entire scanned directory, but they are all checked by default.

Thanks again for the great app.

Yes exiso supports uploading ftp and that's what I'm using wink.gif So no locale extraction before uploading to ftp. I just added the ability to directly ftp it to your xbox (it wasn't in the gui before). But to remove the $SystemUpdate folder the program is logging into the console and deletes it then. So it's not "only" done by exiso.

I thought it would be clear how to use it .. but here you go:
QUOTE
1. click on "choose ISO-Folder" and select a directory where your isos are located in.
   e.g. you have games in Y:\Console\Medal.of.Honor  ,  Y:\Console\Enslaved ... than you would select Y:\Console
2. you choose between ftp mode or locale extract mode (checkbox with ftp next to it).
3. with ftp you choose your xbox ip adress
and as destination for example \hdd1\Games
without ftp you can press on the button to choose a directory or type it in by hand
4. you hit the rescan button
5. you can rearrange the extraction queue (right click and drag and drop)
6. you can rename the game names (in the name column by pressing F2 or double clicking) this will be used as full path e.g. you used as destination \hdd1\Games and the game name you choose was Medal.Of.Honor than the full path would be \hdd1\Games\Medal.Of.Honor
7.optional: if an iso was found that you don't want to extract hit the checkbox in front of the name to deselect it (it won't get extracted then)
8 optional: deselect delete $SystemUpdate and/or select delete iso
9. next you hit go
10. lean back and let the software do the rest. Now it shows you the current status (statusbars at the bottom).

To get more information on the current extraction you can go to the current tab. (but attention this won't be updated everytime a file gets extracted/uploaded. To force that change between global log and current from time to time (or wait until a few more files got extracted). This is due to some speed problems I encountered ... might be fixed in the next version

hope that makes it clear... have fun with the tool smile.gif

Good deal - I was in touch with the exiso creator and he told me what needs to be done to simply ignore the $SystemUpdate folder but after making changes I cannot compile in VS 2008, would be nice to just ignore the folder altogether, maybe if you want I could PM you the email he sent me and you could get it to compile and share? The issue I think was that it updated the project for 2008, if you use an older VS maybe it would compile without error?

i have to deselect all and select only what i need. plse turn that off! its disturbing very much!

I made a mistake in exiso v2.6.
I upload the fixed version.

You can find here: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?sho...99043&st=15

If you get the filelist (-l) before you start the extraction, you can easily calculate the total progress.

rar support would be nice. I might look into it. That needs to be directly integrated into exiso, because otherwise it wouldn't help much... rarto360 for example just unrars them on your harddrive and grab the iso then..

But that doesn't make much sense, so it won't get integrated in that way, but might in another way..

yes I already do that with the file count. I will ship your new version with the next version. But my GUI doesn't need the bytes of the single files. So no zip update right now wink.gif

1. Antivir has this false positive... as mentioned above.
2. please try with destination path "\hdd1\Games" (Games folder needs to be present).
3. look for your firewall settings. When I first start the extraction the windows firewall pops up and asks me to allow the traffic. So check your firewall as well
4. if that all doesn't help paste the lines on "current"

With default name the iso exraction is not working!!,the ftp not work.
When start ,it's work 1sec then done! Do nothing. The "current" window is empty.

I try the 0.4,0.5,0.6 gui in the same directory,with one exiso.exe.  /witch in the 0.4 version/

thx a lot for the invert-button in the new lrs. so i can deselct all with 1 click. better the nothing, but maybe you can make an options or seomthing that not all iso in iso-folder are selectet automaticly at startup.

then a sugestion:

it woul be nice to set two path! one path for local extracting and one path for extraction over ftp to the xbox.

thx for the good work!

an option to select a single ISO would be a nice addition but the invert works well. great update.

if you could also make it so the app remembers the last xbox ip and path inputs it would be perfect! i also get the complete in 1 second after inputting the path and ip but doesnt actually upload or extract anything. restarted a few times and it worked.

I really don't understand why this uses the parent folder name as the folder for the output. Why on earth would you be creating separate named folders for each game when it's only two files (iso/dvd)?
Can you at least give us the option of using the ISO filename as the eventual foldername?
So "C:\Xbox ISOs\Game Title 4.iso" becomes extracted to "E:\Games\Game Title 4\"

As it stands, i have 200 games in a single folder, but all perfectly titled by filename. Thanks.

however, when i choose "g:\games\" as the destination, they dont go there, they get created in the folder that the .exe is in...

I tried everything but no matter what I do, I can't get FTP upload to work.
The way I do it now is extracting the ISO to a local drive and then uploading it via flashFXP to my xbox.

Direct upload with ISOextract won't work no matter what. I use Win7...
I tried running it as admin, deactivating the windwos firewall and even tried xp compatibility mode but everytime the progress bar would just reach the other end after a few seconds without having extracted anything to the xbox.

Please help me, it's so frustrating  sad.gif

Thanks for the app works great!

maybe it was an issue with FSD dash that they fixed with the CD command. My app also had issues with it but they have been fixed now. Not sure if that was the issue but try updating FSD and see if it works.

alternatively I had been using the older dash just to upload games.

windows executable (exiso): http://www.multiupload.com/Q9E9AALTKP

sourcecode (exiso): http://www.multiupload.com/3TAUA93RJH

A new version of the extractor with a better status bar might follow .

AFAIK, to make a Games on Demand container for XGD3 games, extract ISO with exiso, rebuild ISO with CreateIsoGood or any other program that can build 360 ISOs from plain files then open that ISO with Iso2GooD and process it.

thanks a lot aiyyo. Re: reported as virus, thats always been a false positive with some of the more low end AV programs, get away from AVG and the like and try out Microsoft Security Essentials or Eset Nod32.

Great work.

CODE
                                                             extract-xiso v2.7.0 by somski 09.30.11 (Added XGD3 support)
                                                         /
-- extract-xiso v2.6.2 by Aiyyo (Fix extraction bug)  --
                                                         \
                                                             extract-xiso v2.6.3 by Aiyyo 10.01.11 (Added XGD3 support)

So 2.6.3 and 2.7 have exactly the same functionalities and very similar source code. What I can't explain it's the size of exiso.exe compiled : aiyyo bin file is smaller (49.5Ko against 135Ko for your version).
I think that it comes from the compilator (or from externals dependences of the solution) because when I compile 2.6.3 with VS2010 I obtain a big file too. Do you know why 2.7 is bigger than 2.6.3 ?

In my case 2.7 is crashing when I make a FTP extraction but 2.6.3 works. There is a little difference between the two FtpMessage.c files in 2.7 and 2.6.3 but I don't think that's where the problem comes from.

I'm pretty sure that the crash comes from externals dependences and compilators, what kind of compilator do you use ?
