Title: Xbox360 Showing Video Marks And Freezing
Post by: shambles1980 on November 30, 2012, 09:54:00 PM
to me it looks like the gpu or ram is over heating (probably teh gpu)

you do not mention what revision xbox you have.  i will now guess that you have a falcon phat "given that it is not dead and has issues"

i would replace thermal paste. if it is a falcon then it does have a 2nd gen gpu heat sink.
i wold think about adding an extra fan or doing a 12v fan mod.

Is the 360 still under warranty? If it is consider getting MS to repair it.

Even if under warranty try different cables to connect it to the TV. I have seen crappy HDMI cables cause the video to get problems like that.

Does this happen as soon aa you cold boot the 360 or only after it heats up?

I have an old Zephyr/Xenon based Xbox 360 that i've been trying to get working. When it boots up, it has glitches and will freeze.

I'm wondering if it could be indicative of the Southbridge overheating. I've already added new thermal grease, X-Clamp fix, created a better fan shroud, and upgraded the intake fan to one of those T-X3-F1's. I've added copper heatsinks to memory chips as well. Only thing without is a single hynix chip, the southbridge, and a chip named Ana.
