You need to have a component or HDMI cable. Are you using one?

Does it give you the option for 1080i in the resolution settings? I haven't used a DVI/HDMI cable, but my HDMI setup gives me the option for both 1080p and 1080i.

Yes, but the interface is identical for all versions. I wonder if it's because you have a HDMI/DVI cable. It's possible that the DVI settings don't support 1080i as DVI is generally used with LCD monitors.

If your TV can do 1080i, I would think it would be able to do 720p. (That is, unless your TV is really obscure and has an odd setup.) You might try 720p/1280x720 and see if that works.
