yeah, i got componet inputs on two of my non HD tvs. whats up w/ em? are the pictures better? liek EDTV or whatever?
See if your tv is an EdTv, you should know this.
Also, Deftech, what can you say about differences between a normal tv with Component cables and a tv in 1080i or 720p? IS there any mor enhanced quality other than color seperation, like removing some jaggies etc.
so what's the verdict?
It does 480i, not 480p.
Buy the enhanced a/v video pack, which I assume you already have since you are using s-video. Go to bestbuy and buy normal component cables, On a 27" tv, monsters would be a waste of money. Standard component cables should do you fine, like these:

And since your TV has vertical compression, if you want widescreen:
On your xbox, change the dash settings to display games in widescreen. At this point, your games might appear stretched vertically. To make your tv display this widescreen setting correctly, access your tvs settings and select 'vertical compression to 16:9' and you will then get widescreen.
it's laughable that anyone would consider S-video even close to HD
S video is better than composite... that's it...
S-Video can only do 480i and it's not even the best cable for transmitting that format.
If the best you're TV has is S-video, then by all means, use it. but if you so much as have component then use that instead if you're looking for better video quality.
composite < S-video < component < RGB or SCART < DVI-I and VGA < DVI-D and HDMI
^ you can see S-Video is fairly low on the food chain of high quality video, out of the standard formats in use today, it's the 2nd worst.
And anyone who says S-Video is "close to HD" is either blind or an idiot.
