I like the part when they says they hope that not "too many" Xbox 360 will die! Talk about reliability reputation. I hope to never have to deal with Microsoft customer support after all we hear!

Anyway still a good game released!!!

It might be because a bunch of people are just on GTA IV right now instead of Halo 3. I'm saying this from a practical perspective, not because I don't like Halo (in case any of you were wondering), I play the thing almost every day. Still can't hit friggin' general (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) .

My main box has been getting especially loud since I finished The Orange Box.  That's why I keep all of my saves on a memory card - so when it dies I will just pop one in from another room and will be good to go...

its a good game
but i don't think its THAT special
i always find it a tad boring until i get the cheats working and go around shooting every thing
and once that happens its going to be awesome
i reckon multi player is going to make this game for me
more killing less missions

Was a crazy que at the local asda (NEVER shop there!) so I went to Gamestation and walked right in and got a better deal (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) - So far not bad at all, the biggest gripe I have is with the camera angles when driving and walking.... really fustrating - why can't the camera just stay perfectly fixed behind me and not swing all over the place requiring me to swing the angle around with the analog? Very annoying.

Still, I'm looking forward to GRID more (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Just purchased the game at 12AM last night. Super sweet! Greatest game I have played in a while. I have a Benq drive and have had no Pop-Ups or texture issues. Everything is perfect and online play kicks butt! The city is huge!

i picked up this game today, and while it is great, i still have quite a few complaints. like bugs, its so damn buggy. ive seen a parked car just sitting on its front two wheels, with the back ones a metre in the air, i walked into and the back wheels fell to the ground. i had a cop car dissapear that was right in front of me, and then fall from the sky and hit the ground right in front of me. i slid sidways into a tree which sent my car a couple in the metres in the air as it got caught between the tree and a fence. the cars weight is way to light, you can get huge air off the tiniest bumps which just fucks you up.

the AI is pretty dumb, and they said that the cops where going to be alot smarter and stricter with crimes. i have yet to see that happen, as ive rammed plenty of cop cars and most of the time they do nothing about it. and ive stolen cars in front of cops before, sometimes they wont chase me at all. when you have a partner following me, if i jump a fence and keep running, they usualy stay on the other side of the fence untill i go back and get them.

other than that, the missions are great, the graphics are great, the gameplay is great. i love all the little detail they put into everything, it just brings the city alive.

they really need to fix some of these bugs before i would give it 10/10. i would say about 8.8 right now, and those bugs can be really off putting and stuff you up

just thought i might add, my orignal disc runs fine, no lag, no pop-ups or any problems, but my backup has pop-up problems. this is on a 5x BenQ drive. might try changing the speed

Congratulations to Rockstar.

This game was surely the most eagerly awaited of all time so it had a massive weight of expectation.

The game is superb, the graphics are amazing and the addition of so many online modes means that after you complete the game there will be hours more fun to be added. Not to mention future downloadable content the first of which is scheduled for August.

Only minor gripe is that there are no planes/parachutes and the main character Niko lacks the personality and Charisma of the last GTA star CJ.

In all honesty i expected to be let down by this game having been so taken by Vice City and San Andreas. Not heard most of the soundtrack yet and i doubt i will like it as much as i did Vice City due to my nostalgic love of 80's music but so far so good.

Played a few online games - looks pretty good will be better when i get a group of mates into a game. Still quality when you see an opponent in the middle of Times Square firing his AK47 and you go and run him down in your Aston while the guy he was firing at bursts out laughing.

I'm just trying to find a chopper, argh! I loved flying. I remeber texture loading delays in Vice City when flying. Hope it doesn't happen here.

(haven't had texture issues while on the ground like some people report)

choppers can be found at the airport on the very first island (but im not sure if you can get them at the start) or on the second island where the heli tours are. i havnt noticed any choppyness or texture pop-ups while flying, and the draw distance is great

i havnt noticed any problems with live so far, everything is running as per usual

I'll really miss the planes, too.  In GTA:SA, I could kill hours at a time just flying the different planes.  I can't imagine that it would have required that much extra code to have planes in the game.  Heck, they don't even need to make them a part of many of the missions.  I think it was just a bad decision.  Thankfully, they at least left helicopters in GTA 4.  As far as the characters go, I'm not far enough into the new game to comment on that.  From what I see so far, I still think GTA:SA was the biggest improvement over a previous version, but GTA 4 seems like it's still the best overall as it appears to have even further improved upon a lot of those ideas, polished up a lot and looks as beautiful as it SHOULD !!!!

OK this is weird, two unmodded xboxes, one is getting really noticable popup, the other none at all!

Why would this be?

Did later 360s get faster drives or something?

found a way to get a five star felony rating very easy.  If you go onto  highway and from what I gather early in the game some are blocked off until you progress further.  If you shoot at the police office blockade you will get a 5 star immediately.

The second way is to try and swim from one island to the other.  Basically any movement that you try to get to another area of the game that would normally be off limits till you complete the missions will get you a 5 star.

My biggest gripe with the game though (as a side note)  The AI for the police is pretty lame.   Unless you basically slam into a police car, most other crimes (speeding crashing into light poles, driving on the wrong side of the road, etc. are un-noticed).

My guess is that the planes are gone due to framerate etc. issues, there is a lot more to draw, a lot faster from a plane vs a chopper.

I think the planes are gone because the game is based on New YOrk city and they didn't like the idea of people flying big planes into tall buildings.

heres a tip for some people that i worked out (quite stupid that this works really): if your car breaks down (car will not start, i dont mean that it has blown up), just keep holding down the right trigger, bring up your phone, type in any number as it doesnt matter what number, call that number and when you either get the enganged tone or someone answers, your car mysterially springs to life!

also seem a few more bugs and things that annoy me...

if you park your car between two thing (a wall and a tree for example) and it blocks both of the front doors, try to get out and see what happens. the car suddenly flips on its side and niko then climbs out the door.

the clinging to walls feature (a la GoW style) is buggy and quite crap. first of all, he moves slow as hell while hiding behind something, and can sometimes be hard to control. sometimes, if your in the right spot, and you try to cling to a wall, he will actually cling to a different wall anywhere within 10 metres around you, for example. i was standing at the top of a flight of stairs and wanted to cling to the railing at the very top of the stairs, so i pressed RB, and niko ran (faster than he can actually run in the game) to the bottom of the stairs and clinged to the railing there. ive totally given up on this new feature and just end up crouching behind something.

I can't see how planes would cause much more frame rate problems than fast cars.  Granted, it's more of the third dimension, but I think both would require intense processing.  In any case, it's sad they are gone but the game is still great !

Maybe they took out the plans cuz its based in New York (well kinda) and theyu don't want people re-creating the 3/11 Senario, I mean its proven by the story line the guys have hearts, maybe they drew the line at terrorist attacks lol i dont know
