COD3 is a pretty sick game though..
But you know what really sucks, I come home today with my brand new game- rainbow 6 vegas (or whatever it's called)..and I go to turn on my 360..and it freezes a couple times..then bam- 3 red lights. Damn error 0102. blejroewjioihrgoihegohriuoghiowerhgoierhgoi

"came back from leave", you must be in the military, it's the only place I here that term instead of vacation. You would think that a company would test the maps first. I'm sure they'll have it fixed in no time.

Another possible option is if the buffer overflow checks are ensuring the map can fit in memory and for some reason the 360 thinks the map won't fit in the smaller memory space of the retail consoles. But I wouldn't expect it to perform these kinds of checks when loading the map list, only upon loading the map (wouldn't want to slow down the display of the map select list).

Why would they even choose to make newer maps if they were free? Just because gamers would like them? Companies generally are not altruistic. I doubt the newer "free" maps would increase game sales by much.
Game patches, now those should remain free - but new content should cost, at least initially. Bungie did a good thing with the Halo 2 maps - cost at first and then free for all a few months later - those that care get them early and those that don't will wait. Win-Win situation.

Companies that offer maps only to those willing to pay, in my opinion, make their product less appealing. It will push me to not buy the product, or never buy any of their products in the future.
(I will have to buy the maps to play on most servers, since I am missing the required maps.. essentially I am FORCED to pay more, to continue to enjoy the multiplayer).
I will not pay. I will not support this NEW trend. (its NEW because many companies in the past would reward their loyal customers with new maps/addons)

youre going to save money yes, but youre going to miss out on some fun new maps. the trend is here to stay, the proof is in the numbers
