A modchip won't be able to work on the 78 as the key can be in different locations even if its the same drive.

So if i was to buy a xbox360 now it would have a hitachi 0078fk and that means it cant be modded or hacked?
Cuz i was going to buy 360 but not if i cant save my games from my kids greases hands.

No mate I bought a 360 from amazon last week and the drive in that was a Hitachi 59DJ so you might be lucky or you might not .
