When creating a new soundtrack, if we hit cancel or ok, the software crash and close(Run-time error '9': Subscript out of range).
connecting, downloading song, playing and stoping them works fine, but the button delete is not available(I guess it's not implemented yet).
Also the add soundtrack is not available in the menu.

two other bugs

1-If it's not in the directory I installed it the first time it give me that error even if i delete it and reinstall it: (Run-time error '7': Out of memory)

2-if I hit disconnect in the menu after i had connected and disconected, i does an error: (Error uploading database), but if i disconnect without connecting, it does an error:(Run-time error '75': Path/File access error)

For my system specification: I'm using win xp pro on a 800mhz and my xbox is a v1.0 with an executer2.0 pro with the xecuter bios 4979(i think)

I got a runtime error '35602': Key is not unique in collection.

Note that my Xbox does have some soundtrack weirdness, including a phantom song that I've tried deleting many times without success.  Just might want to do a little more error catching on stuff like that.  I like the UI immensely, very slick.

Tivac,

Have you applied some st.db exploit or something?

negative, just a Chameleon modchip running UnleashX.  Xbox soundtrack manager shows that I have no soundtracks left, but the MS Dashboard disagrees.  Trying to delete tracks through the dashboard has no effect though.  It's a weird problem that I've never tried solving, but was hoping that your program could fix.  smile.gif

I'll play around with trying to delete stuff some more.

EDIT:Ah, it appears that I have two soundtracks, both called "Xbox Mix" showing up in the MS Dashboard.  Neither is deletable through the dashboard or via Xbox Soundtrack manager.

Hey,

KiLaHuRtZ, theres no possible way to make a shortcut as you where saying, and also the ST.DB file is limited to a max of 500songs so theres no possible way around that.

Everyone else, thanks for the positive posting, I was actually expecting a bunch of crap from alot of pep.

heh.. weird that it converted 7 songs and uploaded them all THEN bitched smile.gif

BlueCELL, the ST.db is really limited to 50000 songs (100 soundtracks and 500 songs per soundtrack). What really limits you is the size of the E partition. Great program BTW!!!

smile.gif. <<Thats what happends when you are grounded and cant do nothing.  Well anyway Im going to try to reply to all the posts here.

iamcheese
When you connect to your Xbox, hit the "Add" button on the top toolbar.  Then it will ask you for a SoundTrack Name (Make something up).  Once you entered that you should see it on the Top Left Box, click on it once!  Once you clicked on it you can upload songs and that error should happen anymore, sorry about these lill shits, I'll fix them today!

anu|b|iss,
At the moment the VXCR doesnt replace missing st.db files. But people do say if you delete it from the xbox, that the Xbox will then regenerate one, I havent tested this so I cant confirm this!

Also, if you have the Audio Exploit, I am not sure if this App will work, I doubt it thought, but if anyone finds out let me know!!!1

You also asked about Porting this to Mac.  I honestly never have worked/developed with Macs before.  But if there is someone out there that knows Mac programming I will be more than happy to supply that Programmer with instructions on creating a Port.  Anyway I might try to port this to Linux though.

sneakydave
This is Developed w/ Visual Basic 6 SP6.  But I guess you have it working smile.gif

mlapaglia,
I'll try to fix that.

Next Gate,
If you have SoundTracks on you Xbox it might be that causing the Problems.  But boot your Xbox in the orginal dashboard and remove those SoundTracks if you dont mind then see if it works.

EveryBody,
If you have a SoundTrack Called "BYW Shared", Do you have Xbox Music Mixer or whatever its called?  B/c a friend of mine had the same SoundTrack which he didnt create!

Hope I didnt miss anyone,  but thanks everyone for trying this Application and understanding its a BETA,  I'll try to fix all of these issues soon!

The "BYW Shared" soundtrack is from the game "Backyard Wrestling: Don't Try This at Home". It's created when you choose to copy any of the tracks from the game to the hdd.

And, I'm grabbing this app now. This is too good.

One of my xboxes had a similar problem. The st.db file was there, but the xbox was not recognizing it. There were several songs there too. I deleted the /TDATA/fffe0000/ folder, went into the MS Dashboard, ripped a song from a cd, and everything went well after that.

Also, found one issue which may be difficult to dance around. If you try to upload a song to the xbox while the UnleashX dashboard is playing from the xbox ripped items, VXCR will create the .wma, upload it, and then throw an error saying "ST.DB could not be uploaded"

I should've expected that, as UnleashX uses st.db while playing songs from the xbox.

Only way I can think to check for this, is to see if the st.db file is being accessed by anything else at the time. If it is, alert the user that while the dashboard or other app is using the st.db file, they may not be able to upload their songs properly to the xbox.

I just have one question.  This converts mp3's to lossy wma's, right?
Title: Virtual Xbox Cd Ripper Beta
Post by: SamSam on April 09, 2004, 10:10:00 AM
Bugs:
1-Run-ime error '339': Component 'MSWINSCK.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid
IF i move it it's doing this error the first 1,2 or 3 times I start the program and then it's start working fine()

2-I tried to upload a song to the byw soudtrack(bad idea) and it overwrite the first entry of the previous soundtrack(the song file was uploaded to the correct directory and the other that was overwrited in the db wasn't erase on the hard drive)
So you should disable uloading to that soundtrack

3-The remove button do nothing(Not implemented i guess)

4-If i push play or the button stop when a song is playing on the xbox(i had pushed play on a xbox selected song), the error(Run-time error '70': Permission denied) is showing
P.S. it's working fine if the song is on the computer, but the button play stop the song if it's already playing

Improvements:
A refresh after finishing uploading the songs would be nice.

Good points:
Uploading is working fine
search is working fine for me, but I have no idea what the button add is supposed to do
also everithing i said in my first post is still working on my new system

System:
Now i'm using a new system for the testing: amd 2800mhz with windows XP SP1 and the xbox is still the same(1.0) in the lastest evox

P.S. sorry if some letter are missing, I have some trouble typing correctly with my new keyboard

SamSam,

The OCX error that you are getting is only because I havent made a installation for this application, but try placing the OCX files in the Windows/System32/ folder then launching the application.

With the Overwriting of other Soundtracks, that is my fault there is a bug in the AddSong Function, sorry about this,  I'm only in High School, 10th Grade that is, so my math isnt the best, I'll fix ASAP.

And with the Refreshing after uploading songs, I've just added that today.

The app looks real good, but I cannot get it to transfer music.

I can get everything running; i'm able to ftp and look at both the xbox and pc music, but when i try to upload an mp3 song to the xbox it first converts it to wma and then supposably sends it to my xbox.  Problem is, sometimes the songs listing shows up in my xbox directory, and then the next sec it gone, and most of the time it doesn't show up at all.  Then when i go into the ms dashboard, the song is never there.

Also, when i try to upload a wma song to the xbox, the app just closes and nothing happens.

So what's up?

Hammer,

You have any songs in your Xbox Already? if so try delete them.  But if you upload and before you go to your Xbox BE SURE to press the "Close" button on the Top Toolbar to upload the new St.db file

Lemme know if this is the problem

This is more Alpha than Beta.  Not all of your features are implemented yet.  Regardless though... I like the app for what I can get to work so I am submitting some things that I think may help.

Crash Bug:   If you select a lot of mixed files and choose tp upload (I had maybe 50 selected)  it crashes to desktop without error.

Small bug:  If you select one song then hit upload.. then while that song is uploading check another song it will immediately start processing the second song after the first one finishes even though you never chose to upload it.  While sometimes this is actually nice if what your trying to do is select songs for a new soundtrack your going to make it is a pain.

Crash Bug:  I uploaded a file, then checked another song while it was working on first one.  After it moved onto second one it then processed it.. and after finishing crashed to desktop.  Unfortunately every time it crashes even after transfering files finishes the songs do not show up because I never got the chance to hit close to update the .db file.

Feature suggestion:  Select all/invert selection buttons.

Feature suggestion:  intelligent bitrate conversion option/manual bitrate option.  For the manual one allow people to select the quality of the file your app onverts to.  For the intelligent bitrate conversion one, check current bitrate of mp3 and use similar settings for the converted files.

Feature Suggestion:  Allow the GUI to be maximized and allow the individual window panes to be adjusted in size like every other windows app.  Some of us have really long directory structures.

Small Suggestion:  Add a clickable html link to your web page in the about screen.

Feature suggestion:  Once you have your virtual drive working (or even before that) it would be nice ot have a right lick option in the windows shell on sound files that allows transfering directly from shell.  Would be as follows:  Right click mp3 file.. choose soxbox sountrack option: then a list of current soundtracks on default xbox to click on.   Then your app would process the file hidden in the background and then close itself, of course reporting any errors that occur.

From looking at your currently non working options screen I think your app has a lot of potential and I appreciate your work on it.

I'm having the same problem as a few other people, the app says it's converting and transfering, but the tracks are nowhere to be found.  I was running MXM 0.9o (WIP for the leet beta testers), on a v1.0 xbox.  Didn't have any of the run time errors or random crashes though, app ran fine just didn't do what it said.

I am fairly certain that this can be changed in the bios (the location for the music, not too sure about the limits for songs/soundtracks), along with locations for game saves, but is a different topic for another thread in another forum. wink.gif

EDIT: Forgot my feature suggestion... Have your code automatically upload a new st.db file everytime a new soundtrack is added or connection is closed or if the program is closed by other means than the close button or after a song/songs are uploaded to the box.... Not sure, but what if somone fotgets to hit the close button ? Their songs are on there but, no new st.db file ? That could mean problems...

Yes this is a topic for another thread but just to clarify, it is possible with BIOS editing... You can also use a program (forgot which one) to patch the default.xbe's of your games to look for the music in another location, so that the in-game music is read from another locaion other than the Xbox' default place for storing music...

Im not sure if everyone else is having this problem, but after i upload the songs to the hd, i start to rename them and then a song about 7 lines down gets the same name as the file i just renamed, and then turns about 50% of my songs on the new folder into a completely different song that is unplayable...

and to make matters worse, once i start to move songs, garbage files that i cant delete start to take over that folder...

Well, It seems to connect to the xbox fine but I cant do anything else with it since everytime I try to create a soundtrack I get the 'runtime error 9 subscript out of range' error message.

Using xp pro, avalaunch, what else ya need to know?
