Just Freakin' great. I get to go to Chicago once, MAYBE twice a year, and the KKK has to be there THIS weekend.

It looks like it's far enough away, at least. As long as the don't come into town and try and cause trouble... It's been a while since I've been in a bar/street fight - not that I'm the violent type, but I don't back down easily, either.
Being a non-drinker helps in those situations, too ;)
Some call it a KKK Rally, I call it an Asshole Convention. If the stereotypes hold, they'll either be hanging out in Country bars or hanging out in somebody's basement listening to Death Metal.

You know, this is totally off-topic but a year ago, I ended up alone and stranded in the Robert Taylor project areas. My boyfriend at the time got into an argument with me in the car and just DROPPED me off there. (needless to say I broke up with him that day)
Anyways, these two black teens assaulted a dollar-store (at gunpoint) while I was inside looking for some fruit juice. I snuck down so that they wouldn't see me and thankfully they didn't. At the time there was also a lady inside with her baby. The two kids robbed the cash register and ran off, while the owner chased after them. As I was leaving, I saw the mother stuff snacks and cigerettes and condiments INTO her baby's clothes.
When you mentioned the RT homes, I got a weird shiver down my spine and remembered that incident.
In my general opinion, people EVERYWHERE are shit these days.

it sucks that you have that view...but its understandable
come and move to canada, everyone is so nice. in my city of 250,000 there is about 5-6 armed robberies a month, a very very occasional murder, then just petty crime like graffiti.

Does it not make sense to quarantine 5000 (for only 2 weeks i might add) then to expose them to the whole population? as i recall, only about 250-300 ppl have died from sars here. thats less than drunk drivers, smokers, you name it.
to clarify another urban legend - SARS is not fatal, its just uncurable at the time. it has a 90% survival rate.

bullshit, I live in a socialised contry (Sweden) with (semi) free healthcare and quite hounestly it works fine, it may no be perfect but it's a hell of alot beter then it is in USA, when I lived there when I was younger there was a couple of years when I parents couldn't aford health insurence and we wouldn't have been able to pay for the bill if any of use became seriosly ill, wich luckly didn't happen, I did however break my arm and get a server concution with in weeks of when we finaly got health-insurence.
As far as how much freedom you have in the states, first of all the USA is basicly a oligarcy ruled by two large and for a europiean point of view very simaler polictial parties (that situation is fairly simmaler to the situation in the USSR). It's basicly imposible for smaller, more radical parties to obtain any power. Also because of the united states outdated election system the US is now ruled by a leader chosen by a minority of a minority (about 16% of the united states population over the age of 18 voted for bush, that's counting people who voted, didn't vote or arn't alowed to vote because of some f-up laws).
As a US citizien living in another country (as I said befor sweden, were I am also a citizen) I feal ashamed that I am american as america is so comanly treated with disgust here.
ok now I've ranted and I hope I get my point across even though it was incoherent and my spelling sucks.
